  1. You can make carb balance kits. Youtube shows you how. Was your bike rejetted to suit pods and 4 into 1. Trust me when I say decent pods can make a world of difference too. If you get completely stuck take it to a decent bike shop. That's what I ended up doing with my 550.
  2. Sounds rowdy! That plastic welding looked bloody good too!
  3. A couple of parts arrived today. Be good to get some nice new plastic on the pop up. New screen arriving from trump land soon too!
  4. Not sure which would be cheaper but powder covers a lot of imperfections easily. The down side is that it looks thick if that makes sense. I got my frame and bits coated but personally think paint would look nicer.
  5. I ended up using degreaser and then a light scouring pad. Used autosol to polish it up.
  6. I spent half the day trying to clean and polish the wheels I'm going to try and order a supplementary plate for this bike and paint it black and silver. This one makes me cringe. Also ordering a few plastic bits like the dash surround and number plate light cover.
  7. If I was going to spend stupid money I'd go exhausts like this... Yep that's a bigger engine tho!
  8. Must be looks the same blue as Mazda axela or what ever they're called. Gonna go the dark grey they came out in. And wtf is up with the bash plates!
  9. Yeap so I brought this home today. Definitely needs stock paint and the exhausts sorted. Needs a few new old parts but otherwise a good bike. Might sell it again in a year or so.
  10. Late xmas gift from the Mrs ... my bike will never be show room fancy but I like to think it will be It's basically all ready to be thrown back together. Just have to sort some shims for the engine.
  11. Is that a cycleworks exhaust?
  12. Looking at Hagon rears from motozone and importing front replacement from overseas. Had all my parts I ordered turn up. Partsfish seemed to take ages and there's a couple bushes missing so I'll have to get onto that. This bike isn't looking like it'll be ready for summer Maybe I should buy something else in the meantime?
  13. I'm a member of that forum, I think it's just a bung forum. They do have heaps of manuals on there tho.
  14. Yeah I might have to. I was thinking of going usd forks but that's too much effort for me I don't want to clean rust off this thing for the rest of it's days. @Snorkpipe is there anywhere in NZ that has/gets them in that you know of?
  15. Fitted the foot pegs properly. Should look ok on the bike. Not sure what to do about the fork stanchions. They've got a bit of surface rust forming. I'm looking at getting some Hagon shocks for the rear. Don't want to put the original back on.
  16. Got the engine In the frame today. Started on the air box too but didn't get a pic of that. I didn't paint the cylinder head. Looks like oil all over it but it's not. I.Will paint the side cover too I think. Not a fan of the raw alloy look. I also fitted some smaller alloy foot pegs but due to them not actually being for my bike they don't fold well... And the bracket for the frame has been powder coated so I can't hit it with the grinder for a better fit. I'll post a pic of them tomorrow. Still waiting for a few bits and pieces to turn up. Waiting is more painful than pulling teeth.
  17. That ts is awesome! Where did you order all your parts for the tt, they arrived quickly!
  18. I feel like a good prime and paint would be as good. Worried about how it's going to look if/when the powder chips. And you can't do any "touch ups" if something does happen.
  19. I've started reassembly on the bits I can like centre stand. I'll have to strip the rear swing arm and get it powder coated to match frame as it looks shit in comparison. Done a terrible masking job and sprayed the discolored engine today. Definitely going to paint the rest of the engine silver as oppose to polishing some parts. Desperate to get shit done before summer is over.
  20. Nice love a good quick progress build. I sent a few emails to mikuni oz re carbs and the man there has a wealth of knowledge. Might be worth having a yarn with him about replacements?
  21. No rust is a huge bonus. I'm sure you'll smash it in no time.
  22. I got parts back yesterday. Overall happy how they turned out. Powder covers a lot so very minimal prep is required to make it look ok. Everything was coated in zinc to prevent rust first. Not sure if I'd get other frames coated in the future. I've also ordered heaps of parts from partsfish.
