  3. have been doing a bit here in there on the ST90 since finishing the CB50 for DGR last weekend. the wiring i did was rushed and hori as shit, and also took up all the room in the frame which ideally i wanted for storage (of like 1 can of beer lel). i also like the look of the stock aircleaner but cant use it as its way to small for this 150cc engine / carb doesnt line up with it or anything. so i gutted it out and turned it into a good space for everything electrical. this is ideal as if anything goes wrong in the electrical department its only 2 screws to open it and i can swap anything out.

i now have this space in the frame where i will likely make a little plastic container and hold tools / spares / maybe another little fuel bottle

also wanted to hold my phone for gps / filming purposes / wank factor and got this aliexpress ram mount rip off. very good quality actually, except the rubber balls arent as rubbery as my genuine ram mount. now i can pretend to me a 1200GS

I’ve also recently learned about how to set ignition timing with points, so I’ll set the timing right while I'm there.

grab a new set of points while your at it man, makes a huge difference, if you completely disassemble the points that are on it at the moment you will likely see some big pitting holes in the centre of the tungsten or whatever diamond spec hardness that shit is and will likely be slightly sharkstoothed as well. points are generally very cheap (sub $30) and are a consumable part that isnt replaces as often as they should. also condenser can cause missing and shit at high revs, unsure if yours is attached to the coil or the points, but probably another part thats worth replacing to get it running mint.

  6. pretty sure the rsa would do a mega brain at 40 peeps, there wasnt even that many chairs. maybe ask them if we give them $400 bucks can they put on a marae spec feed of blood and guts for 40 people they might be able to organise it. im just gunna go with the flow, id say we will disperse pretty well when we get to hicks, but yea a phone call to tell the razza a few jims will be turning up wont be a bad idea

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask. My CL50 is on exempt class B rego. I don't think it's going to fool anyone that it's a farmbike.

What can I do to get it back on full fee paying rego? It used to be registered as a 'power cycle' under the same frame and engine number (though a different plate!) Do I have to go through the MR2B process or can I just pay some $ to the post shop to change back?

is it registered as a "moped" on class B exempt, if so, you can just go to your local AA/VTNZ and do a class change. i recently did this to the wifes cx-7 as it was regod as a commerical vehicle as the dude did occasional uber driving.

if its registered as a motorcycle and you want to correctly register it as a moped i would think you would need to do an MR2B, but maybe not, id pop in and ask

  8. we use helicopters quite often in forestry, not just for spraying but for flying deadman anchor logs across gullies into farm land and my cable hauler contractors often use choppers for flying strawline across gullies because a chopper can do it in ten mins where as men carrying it would take 2-3 hours, if thats slowing down a entire logging operation that has a cost of around $10k per day the $1000.00 for the helicopter is well spent.

you should be able to get your stuff done cheap as chips with a chopper, as mentioned above go talk to your local outfit and find out when they have a job nearby so they can just quickly do it on their way back to base, talk to them about how they want it rigged up and get it all pre stropped and rigged up for them and it will literally take like ten mins and for 2-3 trips and save you soooooo many kilojoules

  9. Also because sparkles and cams 125 destroys the two 110s on our rides, so def a big power difference, and the 140 destroys all. Top speed in the 125 and 140 are similar due to gearing, the 110s run out of puff a touch earlier. The gear spread in the 140 is shit compared to lifans, my lifan 150 is lush. If I was buying another engine it would be a 125, also shore50s can get 125 semi auto, which is what I’ll chuck on my next cub project.

clutches are better for wheelies tho.

and yea I had my 140 cub geared for 120kmh but it felt like it was going to kill me at that speed and it already has a tall first cos of the “racing” gear spread so gearing it up that much made 1st gear feel like you were taking off in third. I love it now, still not close to the limiter at 100 so it will set there fine but yea does hectic wheelies if first 3 gears easy which makes it mega fun to ride around town

  10. Are you guys for real, fuck I have found the 125s I have ridden wayyyyy more powerful than the 110 lifans u have ridden. I’d never put a 110 in a bike again tbh, cost difference to 125 is minimal and I find the 125s perform closer to 140s than 110s. It’s more than just a cc difference. Cams 125 lifan is not far off my yx140, just more torque with the YX, both waggys and kyles 110 builds I have recently done I reckon are slow At in comparison. @Sparkle and @Dolan can chime in on this

having never done more than a few ks on a motorbike

whats your guys usual stash of tools for long rides/in general

    im thinking

    tube or two

    tyre tools

few adjustable spanner or certain sizes for wheel removal etc?

    spare plug and plug spanner

    spare 4T oil

ive got a small 1/4 socket set

    what else?

yea one tube should suffice unless you have different size wheels, can stash a wee puncture repair kit as well as your unlikely to have 2 punctures in one day. i wouldnt stress too much about tyre levers as there will be a bunch of us with levers, and you can get away with a screwdriver and spark plug tool for that.

correct spanners to adjust chain / axle and remove front or rear wheel, depending on your bike this is usually 10/12 and like a 17 or 20 for axle nut. it is very likely you will need to adjust your chain 2-3 times on the trip.

a small nut fucker never goes a miss

i wouldnt get too worried bringing a lot of oil, especially if your bike doesnt already drink a lot, stuff like a ct110 wont need any, if chinese engine maybe 200-300 mls but again probs not needed.

def a spare plug and plug spanner, find a small bike tool kit where the plug spanner is also a flat head and phillips screwdriver. i wouldnt worry too much about sockets, spanners will do the trick.

make sure you have the required tools to pull a carb off and whip the jets out in case it sucks in a bit of shit.

if you make sure you have the bare minimum for all that listed above you will find you actually need fuck all tools. there will be a big assortment of tools chucked in the support wagon not so much for during the day as that will slow us down but if someone has a major we can fix it that night and will have the shit to do so. ill bring a big assortment for the wagon and things like some brackets and bolts and shit incase mufflers rattle off and that sort of shit but again if we have those sort of issues its likely going to be on the first day and we have raizers workshop / welder that night so should be all gravy.

oh and cable ties, fuck loads of cable ties, they fix everything.

tl:dr dont go crazy as you dont want to way yourself down, but bring enough to change a plug, adjust chain and fix a flatty and you will be sweet.

Even after doing kms on your scooter things can still go wrong like Raizer on the waikato ride on his scooter.

But let's hope that won't happen and we have a great trip.

How many bikes able to two up?

youll be right mate, vespa isnt gunna be rung out like gyro was.

Just make sure you bring some of this so ya dont lose ya nuts

also swapa crates are not that structural for hanging bags off guys. buyer be aware.

for most people they will be fine, but for going full hunoos passing every other bike racing down the motu there is a high chance that the extreme velocity combined with fat cunt on the seat and limited suspension travel will cause said swappa crate to explode
