GuyWithAviator's 1974 Austin 1300

I hardly see any down here. I look forward to seeing another one on here! They're very underrated cars imo, haven't got the cult following of the mini but have the same drivetrain, doesn't make sense -

Pretty good now! Haven't driven it much unfortunately. Fixed the cylinder head and put new valve stem oil seals in. In the process of putting a new Lucas sport coil and new distributor cap/parts on at the moment. Also picking up another complete ado16 for spares tomorrow (3rd one owned and I'm not even 18 yet, what's wrong with me? ) I'll do a proper write up on my build thread tomorrow night -
Yamaha has a few parts available still

I thought you'd like that Was bored in tech class at school the other day so asked the teacher if I could bring it into the workshop to look at/work on, being the gc he is he said yes so i rode it through the corridors into class and may or may not have lost traction on the Lino floors..... Ended up just removing the baffle from the exhaust, sounds better now seems to go quicker or is that just me? Does removing it damage anything? I've decided I want to strip the bike completely and paint it, something glossy/shiny. Any ideas or suggestions? I also want to make a half seat for it and move the rear shock mounts up -
Bought this cheap from TM for a cheap run about/daily. Bought plates for it off Fliboi, so if they look familiar that's why Wasn't going when I got it but after cleaning this crap out of the exhaust: Mmmmm two strokey goodness. And cleaning the carb it just ran, no worries Someone had decided that mph were faster so put this sticker on the speedo, good for me coz the dial underneath was still as new After it sat in the garage for a few days noticed a puddle of petrol under it Surprisingly Yamaha had a replacement fuel tap seal, so that's all fixed now Have had it to just over 65km/h on flat Looking to the infamous QCR for inspiration along the way too

I'm not a fan of it, the transmission is already silver and doesn't need painting but the block and head are black/scummy. I'll be getting an alloy rocker cover at some point too. so something that compliments the shinyness. but not as boring as black -

Got around to dismantling the engine, Head, flywheel etc. Gearbox, doesn't look too bad in there Block and a piston, needs a good clean and paint. Colour ideas? Notice the condition of oil/compression rings Piston cleaned up. And finally, this is one of the bearings. Hmm haha. I'm surprised it ran as well as it did Have new bearings, rings, gaskets, timing chain and clutch plate on their way. Started painting the engine bay too Discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/35012-guywithaviators-1974-austin-1300/ -

Sick of putting oil in this every time I drove it so decided I better replace the oil rings and do the clutch while I'm at it. This will also be a good chance to clean up and paint the engine and bay. Any suggestions on engine colour? Something period correct This picture shows my new mirror and how the ride height should look (front) compared to how I have it (back). It raised up because the engine is out The question for this is: How do I mount the seat and handlebars? -

I'm sure you must have the only two 1300 GTs in north Canterbury haha. Mine only gets hot when going up hills etc. Getting an aluminum radiator soon so that should fix it. Have you got a block in the cooling system or something? -
