  1. gotcha. Yeah the tank is in the boot underneath a panel (similar to most spare wheel wells in sedans), the panel is held down with 3 screws, is this considered sealed by LVV standards?
  2. Hi all, The chevette fuel tank is pretty small (roughly 30L methinks), so I was considering swapping it for a slightly larger looking gemini wagon. Looking at the space under the boot tray, there is plenty of space for the gemini tank and then some. What are the rules/laws on expanding fuel tanks? e.g. if I get the tank split in half and get a band or box of steel welded in to make the tank bigger?
  3. great meet! couldn't believe how many showed up despite the shite weather. Some truly gorgeous machines on display. Popped my CaliB cherry, very satisfying and now I want more... is that wrong? I think my mates may have been partly responsible for some of the mess, they shall receive a stern talking to. Filthy smokers Such a good venue, would suck major balls to lose it because of mess. I can't remember who posted it but I like the idea of dailys downstairs, OS upstairs. I think it's great posting the meet up as an event on facebook so long as err'ybody knows what it's about, behaves themselves, and signs up to the oldschool website. The more the merrier right?
  4. Heya The previous owner of the Chevette has moved the battery from the engine bay, to just under the dash, kinda exposed. It's secured down tight as, but I've heard somewhere that it needs to be in a sealed container? Es legit, or no?
  5. ill be out there closer to the 20th if they can hang on til then?
  6. Jebus! what a stunner! I can see why folks are prodding you to finish it
  7. Looking forward to this, hopefully Joe will have his 280zx up and running too. Havnt tried the Cali Burritos before
  8. Cool, looks like I'm in for some oldschool car-perving before the Blues v Bulls game at Eden Park at 4:00 Good timing guys!
  9. Apparantley so, if there's random crap on TradeMe - my family is sure to find it. To be fair though it was a decent tree for $1
  10. crap, should've made this. Had to help my Dad pickup a tree he won on trademe, shouldve swung by after
  11. oops didnt read the date in the heading, please refer to previously mentioned cheap beers
  12. How was the meet last night? My team lost 4-2 but did well with the cheap beers
  13. Ah hang on, scratch that. Just remembered I'm playing summer soccer and drinking cheap beers on Wednesdays (unitl early feb I think)
  14. I'll be there. Any chance of a sticker in yellow? If not I'll grab a white one.
  15. Massive thanks to Amy and Karl for setting this up, almost didnt make it out as my throat had closed up and I could barely talk. So glad I went to this, everyones cars looked immaculate, Rod was choice as, the place was fantastic. Longest trip for the chevette since I've owned it and no problems other than a mysterious scent of fuel going up/down hills and the engine getting a bit warm while sitting still (also pointed out that the rocker cover gasket could do with replacing). Rod's museum was really cool, and so much better with the tour he offered. Couldn't believe we were able to do the legendary driveway! Massive thanks for pulling this together. Is this going to be an annual thing? Keen as for 2013 if it is
  16. Sorry, that would have been my Dad, he was super keen once I mentioned it (he's followed Rod Millens career since many moons have passed) so I signed him up to oldschool. He was with his mate Mark in the black XD. Not too flash on the interweb hence no replies to PMs. They had an absolute blast
  17. Leadfoot Days Eve! Amped for this. Gotta try and get the car good n shiny at some point between work, a friends halloween party, and the morning
  18. Do it. The world needs more Shuvits Will be taking mine if the fuel leak gets sorted :s yep, pleasantly suprised at how cheap a full tank is, somewhat disappointed to see a giant puddle of grass death in the morning.
  19. Nice shots, will you be taking your camera to the Leadfoot shindig?
