  1. its a bit of a design cock up on this model of car they corner on the bumstops at standard height and as the back has no bumpstops whatsoever from the factory when you push them thru corners at pace you spend alot of time on 3 wheels looks hard case but you soon get tired of it. hoping sway bar and this mod plus the new suspension bits will keep it planted.
  2. So have been working away on parts to convert my triumph 2500 to powersteer and front sway bar to modernise the ride and handling a bit. I will be going 60mm lower in the front which from experience will put the lower arm almost on the bumpstops so while i have the subframe on the bench in the vice i have been thinking of cutting a 8mm wedge from the top of the bumpstop mount bending it back to give a bit more room then welding it back up. most people when they lower these cars cut the bumpstops down but it can make the ride quite harsh when you really throw the car round corners. i can take some photo's if this didnt explain it well enough. I used to work as a fitter turner up until recently so the job will be done well not a hack job, i'm just not a suspension geometry guru can anyone see any reason why this would be a shite idea?
  3. Hey by any chance is it Blue? if so i drove passed it twice this week already looked very tidy. if it is seized you'd be surprised how effective a few tablespoons of diesel and clean engine and oil down sparkplug holes can be in freeing things up. above all do not scrap it.
  4. Checked out your project looks awesome. manifolds for my engine would be a mission as i would have to group carbs in twos meaning linkages and fuel lines but after reading how yours turned out i'm almost sold on the idea, i take it they sound animal as?
  5. Been trying to find parts to get petrol injection for my car (triumph 2500) most the stuff out there is in need of rebuild now and well been there done that i guess. so after lookin on trademe i spotted 2 sets of carbs off a 1300cc 4 cylinder kawasaki for 250$. now i'm torn they should out perform dellorto's or webbers. what do you think is it worth the effort? or should i look into EFI instead
  6. Just spent last 2 weeks stripping a well shagged and ugly but complete power steer front subframe for the car spent all of sunday arvo wirebrushing straightening and getting some etch primer on the metal parts. mission.
  7. Check the routing of your hoses i just sorted this issue on my car heater pipe had been looped up meaning the water wasnt circulating in the head put them back how they were supposed to be now problem gone... well apart from the gauge is also stuffed in the dash so external gauge also was needed. hope one of these 2 could help.
  8. use 300zx TT engine and pathfinder box for 4wd. dont waste time with supercharger those VG30DETT engines have next to no lag you'd lose power fitting a blower.
  9. check for spark when you wind it over the crank angle sensor goes as well as the igniter pack meaning no go usually both at same time my father in law has a couple of Coronas. i also had one for a while best way to check is to get another corona and swap components over till you can give the fault to the healthy car. thats if the cambelt is intact.
  10. Awesome..... well yet another piece of good paintwork that has to come off. should need a licence to buy the shit aye.
  11. Hey guys just trying tidy up some of the previous owners "fixes" my back window has what can be described as a 2 fingers wide spread of black windscreen sealant around the whole thing been at it trying to pick it off but the shit has attached pretty well, is there any way to break it down that wont take paint with it tried meths and turps with not to much success but no damage to paint either . Is pissing me off only reason it was leaking was because the top half of windscreen isnt even in the frame..... Any suggestions appreciated
  12. Funny you should mention that i have used SD1 brake calipers on a trumpy i had before big 4 piston units worked pretty good, the rovers run a bloody massive stud pattern though and getting decent looking wheels for them is also a hassle well expensive too and same problem with redrilling them not much room to move studs inwards. Have Owned a Sd1 was a top car though everytime i got it running right i'd scatter the spider gears in the diff. Am looking at grafting in skyline front struts now as a Upgrade to the whole front end. just need to get hold of parts and start measuring.
  13. i came across this stuff called emulgel its a marine cleaner you get it fron burnsco marine shit is impressive takes white rust off alloy and leavs it looking mildly polished. best part is bugger all effort doesnt kill paint to much either.
  14. Hey if you can give me a part number on the wheel bearing i can track down measurements that way, Cheers by the way.
  15. This is going to snowball i can tell. repainting an engine bay turned into lexus v8 swap while i was in there last time i had one of these cars.......
  16. I like that logic verniers and socket set this weekend cheers
  17. Think the triumph brakes will need to go looking at that not a hope in hell. Anyone got a lathe and can make up some new stubs for a brake conversion?
  18. These are what i want Uploaded with ImageShack.us Think you'd agree they'd look shit 4 stud
  19. Thinking boyd coddingtons or american racing and most of the styles i want are 5 stud only. Going for more of a classic look instead of jap wheels
  20. Ok guys looking to change the stud pattern from 4x114.3 to 5x114.3 with newer 12mm 1.5mm wheel studs on my Triumph 2500 so i can get better looking wheels for it has anyone found a rotor and caliper combination that slip on front stubs of these cars with the 5 stud pattern i'm after? I know i could use those bolt on adapters but i'm pretty sure that would push the wheels out past the guards and i dont want to even attempt pumping the guards out I like it all nice and standard looking body wise. Has anyone tried redrilling hubs and fitting new studs? this is what i'm contemplating welding up old holes and drilling new ones. Tell me what you think
  21. Some more pics If anyone has any history on it let me know judging by the shit i found in it some crazy times must have been had.
  22. Hi guys just bought this Triumph recently after about 4 years without one as a project, Over the years i must of owned about 25 of them V8's mk1's mk2's mainly Uploaded with ImageShack.us Bought from Morrinsville with suspected blown head gasket for a bloody good price no doubt some of you will know the car. So far i sorted the overheating issue removed a shit load of old dodgy alarm wiring and given the engine a bloody good clean, second was getting the rooted handbreak sorted and while i had wheels off i reworked the rear springs as it had raised heavy duty cobra coils in it so dropped 3" inch out of the back. pretty happy with it now Camber is at about 1 degree negative in back. its driving mint now and i'm going to sort out inside now with some race seats in same colour while i put some coin aside for the engine got a few bits leftover from my old cars i had like front facing plenum and intercooler pipes. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/36900-daves-73-triumph-2500tc-discussion/ Tell me my old wheels looked better here^^^^^
