  1. They ran a GT45 on that engine with the blower too! 23psi manifold pressure would love to know what temps were out of the blower. Car is set up with 600hp worth of fuel pump now more if I go AN-8 fuel line, I may build an engine later but for now setting up with a turbo with some headroom for later on would it be terrible to go the GTX3582R? As for the bearing types I hadn't thought about that the roller bearings letting go, ive killed a few plain bush bearings before hence I thought it'd be an upgrade and less resistance to spin up. China been China I get what you mean
  2. Aim is a lazy weekend car that wouldn't be unbearable as a daily. When I say lazy I mean if it came on boost at 3000-3500rpm that would be perfect so I could still amble around and just chop down a gear to get it cooking. 2500rpm high stall converter will get done with a shift kit to help it hold together. Not after massive power as that will break diffs and gearboxes if it's faster than a ls1 that would also be pretty pleasing and probably do.
  3. Got a spurt of enthusiasm today so painted this nugget, paint is 7/10 but looks pretty damn good considering I only primed some of the plastics. Meh. Looks zillion times better. I did go chameleon paint as well glad I did looks awesome and isn't too flamboyant.
  4. @kpr What's horrible superchargers or the L67? Any opinions on wastegates? Internal or external at what point should I be thinking of going external.
  5. So what ive read from the above is....... I need to look for a A, a Barra B, a smaller turbo if I don't want lag. My only aim is a 12 second quarter have factored in a high stall converter or manual box might be needed to make this happen as well as some diff gears. Realistically I'd probably be happy to just have it go really well and not blow up providing it drives nice.
  6. Got a a long winded holden L67 build going on at home the supply of supercharger options that will make good power reliably and easily are actually a pain in butt to obtain. Years ago I decided on this engine but tech has since moved on since I started all the cool stuff I wanted isn't available anymore for the supercharger. So I've 90% decided to ditch the blower and go single turbo as it would give me the ability to turn the boost up as desired without pulley and belt swaps, what should I be considering EG: internal/external wastegates sizing and bearing types. My research has led me to look at an XR6 Gt3582 off a Barra as they have an internal wastegate to simplify plumbing the exhaust and are on a similar size engine. Specs of one ive found: PULSAR GTX3582R GEN 2 for XR6 Falcon Territory to replace the factory GT3582 turbo this turbo comes with 0.82A/R T3 inlet 5-bolt outlet BRAND NEW Tags: ball bearing, billet compressor wheel, G Series *New Aerodynamic 10 blade billet compressor wheel flow more air over the stock cast or Gen1 11 blade billet wheel *New Aerodynamic 9 blade turbine wheel, less weight, lower inertia, and higher flowability *Genuine structure and rebuildable dual ceramic ball bearing system *Larger 0.72A/R compressor cover with Anti-Surge 4" inlet 1.06A/R turbine housing with larger 38mm wastegate hole and 43mm flap over stock housing *Billet actuator with black anodized coating *3 Layer Stainless Steel 5 Bolt Gasket Description Compressor Wheel: 65.7X82.6mm(extended tip diameter: 85.29mm) Turbine Wheel: 68X62.3mm *Compressor Inlet: 4" Hose *Compressor Outlet: 2.5" Hose *Turbine Inlet: T3 Open *Turbine Outlet: 5 Bolt *Water Ports: -6AN *Oil Feed: -4AN to the Oil Restrictor *Oil Drain: Std T3 Oil Drain Flange *Actuator working pressure: 14psi Application: Replacement for factory XR6 GT3582R GT3576R Turbos.
  7. I've got a VCDS lead I could part with if you want to try some advanced stuff. PM me.
  8. It's off one of those kmart Drift trikes surprisingly good fit for an adults ass. Litteraly every inorganic or tip ship will have them
  9. The sheer volume of cannabis and pie crumbs removed from the crevices of the passenger seat was remarkable! Like a solid tennis ball size. Not a fan so out on lawn which the local magpies found not even deliberately.
  10. Added 2 sets of alpine components these have a nice tweeter to point at your face (even in the back) everything in stock speaker pods so nice and crisp no rattles. Taken better part of 2 days to swap all the upholstery over as my body loom had no power for passenger seat and needed some fettling in diagnostic console on laptop to make airbags talk to the controller, all works mint now. Spent the cash on a install kit for head unit which looks sweet. This is the weapon of choice for road trips as it's a big armchair.
  11. Seeing as I can't obtain engine parts why not fit an obnoxiously big stereo and leather upholstery... it's not easy hiding 2 gauge cabling but it's done aided by pulling the interior to 100's of pieces even managed to snake through the chassis under seat so no lumps showing
  12. Rant over, exhaust has all the Harley heat shields so only gets warm and tucks right up in to motor now which is mint just need to decide if pegs go up front or sort of mid frame. Front feels mint have trialed myself and kids have ridden too using vicegrips, for something so short it's pretty comfortable I would like to add front brakes and a foot gear shift later on so usable places for feet are important.
  13. This things starting to fight me a bit randomly dropped a cylinder which turned out to be a plug ffs none available anywhere like litteraly zilch in country, thought I'd try local repco "computer says no...." check your shelves guess what they had 2 hurray. Get home wont start fuel pump has shat itself fuck. Cleaned it out but doesn't like where my tank is sitting moved tank pump now works. Lots of cranking later starter motor now calls it quits so it's dead till new one gets here from China as nz suppliers seem to think 400+75 freight is reasonable. Deep breathing exercises..... fuck it redid exhaust as stuck out to far used a small muffler I had off something else. Will do the swingarm mods and paint it and call it finished.
  14. So shipping has utterly shat itself globally so looks like I'll build the headers myself fuck it, I wanted bigger than 38mm anyway. To keep trucking on ive ordered the fuel pump locally apparently good for 1000hp so shouldn't be seeing it needing upgrades again. Driving a fair bit at moment as its so much more comfortable on weekend than work ute.
  15. Looks like fuck all has changed, but the hydraulic clutch conversion is done is light as fuck but a little short on stroke so will either use a trailer master cylinder and convert to foot action or redrill the pivot point does disengage at least. Vrod pipes are on all welded up too surprisingly easily fitted just pinched the ends in over some stainless steel cones I had and welded some tabs on to bolt on to heads. Will need to make a muffler nothing I have fits.
  16. I've done this exact thing on a SU carb float. Chop the barb off the plastic hose tail and tap your AN fitting to accept a push on fitting. Works a treat and looks alright if you cut both fittings down a bit.
  17. Got my new Tig today much excitement ensued banged everything together smashed some settings into it without reading the manual and turned out this weld on my kids quad frame. Little hot not pretending I was an expert before but shit that's passable. Forgot how rapidly the arc gives you sunburn. Just a tad over $2k for the new setup Strata 200A ACDC Tig ex demo including a bottle I bought from Gaspro Hamilton welder was from Proline in Nelson.
  18. I've switched over to them $60 for a Co2 fill can't go wrong. Some welding consumables in store too which he gave me for free mig tips etc.
  19. Spent up a storm at GASPRO in Hamilton this weekend getting my existing Co2 recertified and filled and also bought a Argon bottle to go with my Tig. $730 later...... had a good yarn though so I tried to get my bottle done by Coregas who couldn't say when I'd get it back so they said to go there, Gaspro has basically got everyone's bottles going through them now Bunnings swappable Coregas you name it. Lockdown restrictions have paralysed everyone as they are filled in Auckland. There you go just go to them 1-3 days for a fill and they are cheaper.
  20. The Harley exhaust arrived fits where I want it surprisingly well but mufflers are absolutely huge so may get chopped in half and tigged back together came with a massive catalytic converter which I won't use so takes about 600mm out of things. Will continue to shuffle things may be able to chop things around and tuck in more everywhere.
  21. Just finally (after 20 years) pulled the trigger and bought a decent tig I sold off my big mig to buy it and threw some car project money in so I could get an ACDC unit so can do alloy. This brings me to the fact its way flasher than anything I've used before, where the fuck do i start? I can weld fortunately but I'll definitely be rusty so any interesting websites or YouTube channels I should watch? The lingo has me baffled.
  22. Oh I also dropped $500 on stereo gear to get my stash of stuff installed, walked into cash converters on weekend and scored the triple pre-out head unit I needed for fuck all the fitting kit and fascia cost more than the stereo.
  23. Been a while..... headers and intercooler setup are on back order but will be on the way after Christmas Not a bad way to drop 2.5k but should see 250kw easily by cranking the boost up to moderate levels with some headroom.
  24. C02 ring around outside of inlet to blast freeze the whole thing, start each run at -60c have seen a wrx with double walled intercooler pipes before for this exact reason.
  25. Just bought this off mrs today she was going to trade it she's owned it since new so serviced by dealer then me since. Cool thing was it was the ex Fairview mazda demo model so has every possible option including one of the best stock stereos I've heard in a while, I had a 12" sub installed a few years back so I'm upgrading that to my twin 12" subs from my Vw further back in this thread. Plan is to chuck some Mustang 19" wheels on it and just enjoy it for a bit while I finish my Holden engine swap then just keep it tidy.
