  1. They are both great locations and the more ideas the better! Hell why not head all the way out to Muriwai and get a few sneaky waves in too! I can ring Riverhead Tavern tomorrow to find out if they have any car clubs/bike groups booked and report back?
  2. Yep, or the easy version and go along the old Albany Highway. All excellent choices!
  3. Hallertau for the win on Sunday. Riverhead Tavern is always packed put with Motor Cycle riders wearing leather and there is never ever anywhere to park. HOWEVER! Riverhead tavern is on the way to Hallertau so we could do a gangster style drive by. Also when I rang Hallertau today they said the would reserve us a table and could also reserve 7 car park spaces for us. They also brew thier own beer: http://www.hallertau.co.nz/ Could all be a moot point for me as I may only be going to Caffeine and Classics part as I should be moving into new house.
  4. As Takapuna born and bred I feel oblieged to come up with a suitable spot for lunch but must admit I am struggling..
  5. Usually each Month I have started a new thread. This month I didn't. My bad.
  6. Lake Rd on a Sunday is poos. Long Bay is not usually crowded this time of year but would not want to put money on it. Parking at any of the other Bays on a Sunday is busy (with the possible exception of Rothsebay) The Pump House on Lake Pupuke is good with parking (and a cafe) or the park on the otherside? More suggestions the better!
  7. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/mazda/auction-626939785.htm I enquired about this car a while ago. It was up for sale "complete" for $9k with fake Rx-3 front ect (but still rolling body only). After talking to the guy it turned out that it was only complete panel wise, all the other bits (like most of the interior) was missing. Stupidly over priced and didn't sell. It then showed up as it is now, but with plates and tags and he wanted $3.5k for it (but said he waould take $3k). Now it is for sale, minus plates and tags for $1k. Have not checked to see if numbers all match etc and I was thinking about getting it to make a race car originally or keeping it as spare body parts. I am also obsessed with Mazdas and my wife thinks I am trying to save the world one Mazda at a time. Just just curious as to what would happen if he tried to keep the tags, as I am sure you could probably still get the car road legal if the plates are on hold, but not on the car. Surely you would still need to sign ownership over or something, get a receipt that you bought own it. I also hate the idea of people selling "plates and tags" seperate, as this only fuels the illegal and stolen car market which gives me angry face.
  8. The car will have a body number stamped on the firewall. It is how you can identify what kind of car it is. The car in question is a Mazda 808 which has a different number to an RX-3. My understanding (which is often wrong) is that if I had the body number, I could apply for new number plates, claiming the old ones are lost (reg is on hold) then wof and go? He is also trying to sell Plates and Tags seperate (which really pisses me off) but these could be useless if new owner was quick? THis is all a moot point, as I'm not interested in the car at all, the new owner of the body will probably use it as rust repairs and chop it up and someone will use the Plates and Tags to illegally get another car on the road...
  9. So a guy is selling a car on tradme. He has tried selling it with plates and tags 'reg on hold' and could not get the money for it (as he was dreaming). He is now selling it just as a shell with no tags, but surely if the car is in the system and the plates are 'live' couldn't the new owner just WOF it and get it road legal, making the plates and tags the old owner has void?
  10. It all started with a stupid little black piece of plastic for the FC3S I wanted and couldn't get here in NZ. It is the cover above the passenger door and covers the wing mirror. My one was cracked (as they all appear to be) and Phill had some new ones. Postage was expensive so I ran them I also ended up with some NOS (or probably cheap knock-off) Mazda 808 badges and the coupe door rubbers. The door rubbers were $80 ozzy. All up including postage I spent $170 Ozzy (nearly $200NZD) so was al little annoyed that that didn't sort it sooner.. Stupid Mazdas lol..
  11. So, my parts still haven't arrived. So I rang and rang and got all kind of promises to sort it out ect as one guy I spoke to on Monday said they haven't even been sent yet. Anyway, today I got an e-mail to say that they have been posted. Pretty pissed about it really. I know they are not McDonalds but seriously annoyed at how long it has taken and how piss poor thier customer service is. Yes I was warned that Phills was shit but still.. And if the rubbers turn out to be poos then all fucking hell is going to break loose (like a strongly worded e-mail..)
  12. House prices in Auckland are silly. Dunedin is awesome and has great surf.. Will also get a hell of a lot more for your money!!
  13. /spam Surley the house prices in Auckland were not that bad you had to move to Dunnos! Can still get a good house on the shore for just under a cool million..
  14. Well they still haven't shown up yet, so I can't say much positive things about the quickness of postage... (insert angry face)
  15. Mega Threadomancy here but.. Ordered some door rubbers from Phils Rotaries after actually speaking to the dude. If they don't fit he offered me my money back. No one else so far has offered anything like that so I figured what the hell I'll try them and see. Will do a full report once they arrive.
  16. For anyone who hasn't looked yet here is a link to the offical pictures of Julys Caffeine and Classics, and when you look through you will notice several 'oldschool' cars in the collection which is awesome. http://www.protectainsurance.co.nz/news-and-events/caffeine-and-classics.aspx
  17. For anyone thinking about coming along and are worried your car might not be up to show spec, DON'T WORRY! This is not a car show, it's a bunch of people who like thier cars, and want to park up with other people who like cars. That is what makes it so much fun. There really is a little bit of everything.
  18. Thank you. Looked good amoung the other cool cars on display as part of the Oldschool selection. Was cool hearing some of the comments we got from some of the regulars. Oh, and Colin the guy that runs it love our collection too!
  19. So next month we are going to be in the lower carpark which should be able to accomodate up to 400 cars. Awesome...
  20. Yeah, that was my little 808 complete with period correct reading material in the back window.. Also, for those of you on facebook, if you search for Popeye Pic's he has 158 pictures of today.
  21. Apparently there was over 300 cars this month. Lots of awesomeness on display and well worth attending. hopefully Snoozin will post up some pictures for us. Also, next month Columbus are going to bring in an extra coffee machine and more staff to cope with the millions of coffees they have to make.
  22. Even if we have to park on the grass its sweet. Actually for those of you that are not at 4x4/nana spec height the grass is actually easier as it has a nice ramp up on to it as the normal car park does have some evil judder bars..
  23. ^my bad. *grins* Any peeps keen on a Backyard bar meet up before hand and roll in together deal? Perhaps 9:30 at the BYB then roll out at 9:45 to travel the 300 metres to Caffeine and Classics?
  24. This is open to all cars including modern ones (providing they are interesting/cool/etc) But there is also a heap of other parking for people to just come and have a look. Think free car show! So to answer you question, yes you should come along, even if it is in a daily to look at cool stuff and a lada.
