    GL5 diff oil

I have a 10 Ltr of penrite GL5 I got given and wanted to use that, its not a LSD, I managed to get the spc sheet on this oil today and it says its safe for copper and bronze. I think the GL1 was the oil they used back in the day in the ealy diffs. Never bothered about things like this when I was younger, would just pore in any old stuff.

    GL5 diff oil

would it be ok to use GL5 in a 1973 jaguar xj6 diff? I hear GL5 will eat into bronze bushes in diffs and gearboxes. I have looked allover the net for info but carn't find any.
  4. Could you use the VT holden master cylinder and adapt it to fit your peddles? it would take out alot of the gess work
  5. Did it, I purged it with Supamix, nothing exciting happend, it didn't ever burn, there was vapour comming out witch wouldn't even catch fire. Thanks everyone for the help.
  6. I think fitting a 2 pound residual pressure valve in the line can keep the pistons close to the disk to fix that problem
  7. I don't run a booster because I couldn't be arsed, and I made the peddel box to be under the floor
  8. I was going to weld it with the oxy acetylene, I could purge it with the MIG welding gas and let it flow in wile welding like you say, probley the best way
  9. Just been reading about the exhaust pipe trick, I think it will make it even safer being diesel.
  10. Its better to have the master cylinder bore on the smaller side, the peddle is rock hard and like standing on a brick otherwise,
  11. I have a diesel tank with a small gash in it, I have drained and removed the tank, I was wondering is it safe to weld or will it explode? I havent played with diesel ever. When I didn't know much I welded a petrol tank witch I had washed out with water but it exploaded and split open down the seam, it was like getting hit by a train

    Rusty petrol tank

plane steel 10" exhaust tube is over $300 plus GST per meter, thats fucken ridiculous, Anyway I made a new tank from rolled sheet, unsoldered the fittings and welded them onto the new tank
  13. Anyone in west auckland have some sheet metal rollers? I need to roll a sheet of 1mm x750 x 800 into a tube for a petrol tank, any help would be highley appreciated.
  14. How long do you need the tube?, I have a lenth of seamless tube with a 11/16 threed in one end, it was half a tie rod of a T bucket If the tapered hole is worng in the steering arm it could be reemed? The rods ends you have with the angle are HT Holden, the ealy ford V8 rod ends are straight with out the angle, there made by Fuji
  15. I have some 11/16 nuts here if you want, but they are left hand only
  16. The ealy holden tierod ends you speek of will have a 11/16 UNF thread Ford use it to, its a real bum size
  17. Define can't pull the skin off a rice pudding haha, its cheep to run and rugged, would probley go better than the Viva motor.
  18. How about a Holden Star-fire 4 cylinder from the 80s, apparently they run of the smell of an oily rag.
  19. I was wondering if all BW 35s are the same to, the Falcon one has a 28 spline yoke, triumph has a 25 spline yoke and Volvo has a 27. some of them have the dipstick tube going into the pan and others have it going though the housing. was starting to look for one to, mine dose a mad shudder on take off

    Rusty petrol tank

I was thinking more about a bit of 10" OD ally-clad exhaust tube, some baffles and end caps, cut the filler out of the old tank, the tank is behind the front seats.

    Rusty petrol tank

I give up, its going to the scrap, I have made a huge mess, everything I did made it worse, the baffles have come loose, I have wasted heeps of solder and brazing rods, its just a hunk of shit, filled it wp with phosphoric acid and it revealed more holes
