Mof
Mof, that looks just like the 'BOOSTER' on my parent's old yunca wegj it used to boil the water in the cylinder it was awesome Unfortunately the steel pipe/cylinder made the water rusty in two days, had to dump the whole 1000L. Haven't got around to getting copper yet
Mof
Got some copper, thanks Jacknz123! Had a few kinks from a previous coil attempt Worked a few of them out and coiled it with the pipe bender for making truck mirror arms at work. Now the fun part of trying to get it into the drum Eventually got it in and fired it up tonight. Was still very slow but definitely hotter. Had it on for about 2-3 hours, the first 5-6 inches of water got to about 35° but the rest stayed at 20°. I mixed it up and it evened out at 25° A little more research on solar thermosyphon has has turned up the system works best if the bottom of the tank is about the level of the top of the heater. So, this may be relocated onto the deck. I wonder if I built the deck strong enough to hold a ton in one spot....
johnny.race
I reckon your coil is not tight enuff and your are not making enuff heat. And that the majority of heat you are making is not spending any time being focused on the pipe like you want it to - but escaping up your chimney. You've got some shit kinking going on on that pipe of yours eh? This is what was happening to me when i was trying to make a tighter coil by hand. Mof
Yeah I know. The bender did a pretty good job andtthose kinks were already there. The pipe gets plenty of heat about 70°+ from the in pipe I think I need to introduce gravity to the situation
