did some polishing and assembling today.

 the front bumper is just hanging while i paint then install the filler panels.

passengers side doors all back together.

also painted the hood lining so i can stick that back in. it was a horrible grey colour. now its black.

filled the roof and pillars with a shit load of Dinitrol.

then i put the hood lining in. thats gone ok. need to do around the doors to pull it tight but so far so good.

finished gettin the hood lining in and all buttoned up round the edges.

its come out way better than i thought it would tbh.

glued the screens in today.

it went ok. ended up using a Henkel product which is the right stuff apparently, we'll see........

i reckon a car doesn't really look right until the screens go back in. so, the screens are back in.

screen glue shit seems to be "curing" at a very slow rate but its hard enough now to carry on with other things without any worry about it moving.

so carry on i have.

the dash got a coat of vinyl spray then went back in and i polished the chrome that goes around the front screen and put that back on.

ive painted a few other dash bits and that will be the next thing that i put back together.

also the carpets arrived for it today so they'll be going in when the bulk of the interior is finished.

got some carpets from autodec.

they fit but not very well tbh. typical autodec really.

anywho they are in the car.

i also filled the doors and sills with Dinitrol and put the door cards back on.

and ive got more of the dash back together.

and i bought some mirrors for it too.

tidied up some factory steels and hubcaps, fitted some new tyres. also under-sealed all inside the wheel arches.

if anyone wants the shit wheels that were on this car then you can have them. pick them up and take them away.

 

no matter how much i try and ignore it the back sits too high and look fucking stupid so im going to get some factory springs compressed so it sits level and ill get some shorter shocks.

i had booked this thing in for a warrant last friday but while i was driving it around here to make sure it would actually make it to the warrant place something changed and it started running like a pile of shit.

i had to pull the pin on the warrant check and try and figure out what had happened.

as it turns out two things went wrong at the same time. the fuel pump started loosing pressure and the weird arse diaphragm thnigo on the side of the carb shit itself.

the carb is off a later model smog motor and it got all sorts of vacuum shit all over it. it was working mint, it started like a dream but its fucked now.

i went through the pile of fucked carbs i have and surprisingly enough they're all fucked. couldn't make one that worked so i bit the bullet and bought a china copy off ebay.

fuck knows when it'll turn up but i wont be able to get a warrant for it until then.

gay.

i did however send a pair of rear springs off to get compressed so the back will sit level.

re-torqued the head and re-set the valve clearances last night.

over night parts from china.

ordered the carb Tuesday night, delivered Friday arvo. thats pretty legit.

it looks way better than i thought it would, it actually looks like its well made.

so i strapped this on and it ran like shit, Nick the good cunt sparky came over and we fucked around with it. turns out the points were fucked and so were the plugs, put some new plugs and points in it and it runs like a dream, its like fucking new. we went for a hoon around the block and its running mint, stoked!

 

so this friday its getting a warrant and then itll be on tardme ASAP.

i learned some things while building this car. mainly that my heart wasn't in it, it had to many doors and i just wasn't in to it. I really struggled for motivation towards the end and thats SO not me. 

anywho, lessons learned.
