i put the old front springs out of the coupe in the sedan and some meow its lowered the front down a bit so it doesn't look so stupid. if your going to do this then remember kids, safety first!

i also under sealed the insides of the front guards.

its rust time.

the ubiquitous "just smash it in and weld a plate over it mayte" rust repairs are present.

in this case the new bit of steel had been brazed on, badly. the amount of distortion in the panels was fucking outrageous! the piece they welded over the top is at least 1.5mm thick and had contorted the lower quarter all over the shop. when i cut it off the factory steel popped back to where it was supposed to be which makes life easier.

 

so the usual routine, cut the outer off, cut the inner out, make new bits, weld it all back together.

all cut away. i left the dangely bit so id know how low the inner is supposed to go. once i got the new inner all sorted i cut that bit off and made a new one.

ive made the new outer and have it clamped ready for welding which will be tomorrows job.

all buttoned up.

tbh im not really that happy with it but it will do. the whole arch and lower quarter has been smashed and bent and all the steel is stretched and fucked. i tried to get it better but its to far gone. i came really close to cutting the whole arch off but in the end i decided a few mm of bog isint the end of the world so that's what it'll get.

once i fill the back of it all up with epoxy primer its be sealed and sweet as.

right so ive done the other side (and didnt take any photos because im slack) and then i poured epoxy primer everywhere inside the rear guards. now its on to paint.

 

ive got the rear quarters and the roof ready for primer which ill be spraying tomorrow as long as nothing goes horribly wrong.

both lower rear quarters had been pre-fucked and needed a bit of bog to get right. there is also a dent in the left side which it looks like they did'nt even try to get out. just fill it with bog mayte.

so ive got that much better. i also chipped all the seam sealer out of the roof/rain gutter seam and it was pretty good in there. gave it a wire wheel with the grinder then a coating in Brunox to seal it up.

paint.

i wire wheeled all the screen rebates and put brunox on them. then i masked it up and put heaps of hi build primer on it. 

it looks pretty good, ill start blocking it tomorrow and see how the shape starts coming up.

started blocking it and its coming up really well. ive done the roof and borh rear quarters with only little pain in the arse corners left to do.the only issue so far is where ive touched the wet paint with my trouser leg.

there's only a couple of little bits left to do and its good for a light coat of primer then wet sand ready for colour. im calling that a win.

time to paint he boot.

all sanded up and ive given it a coat of brunox. there was only surface rust on the floor so it was pretty easy to clean up.

ive since masked it all and prepped the back of the boot lid. next step is paint.

painted the boot.

wet laid it as usual. im not very happy with the boot floor tbh, good thing it gets covered with carpet. despite the whole thing being sealed up with a coat of brunox its reacted in a couple of places. nothing major but still a pain in the arse 

anywho i put some paintable texture  coat in the bottom of the spare tire well to make it a bit more robust because that area gets a bit of a kicking.

also painted the inside of the front scuttle and the inside of the boot lid which came out really well.

finally got some good weather to put some more paint on this thing.

prepped the drivers side, bonnet and boot lid then today i put some primer on them. didn't do the lid on the spray gun up properly so there are drips on the boot lid but that's no matter, its going to get a heap of sanding anyway

tomorrow ill get to sanding it all.

long boarded it all and its come up pretty well. probably wouldnt have burned through quite so much if i hadn't of run out of primer.

anywho its looking good shape wise so tomorrow night (weather permitting) ill blow what should be the last coat of primer on this bit.

put some more paint on it. this should be the last primer i need to put on this part. it gets wet sanded from here ready for colour. 

theres plenty of paint on it this time and its pretty straight so it should come up good with some wet long board action. 

next is to turn it around and do the other side which is only t he two doors and the front guard because everything else is done.

fuck nearly a month with fuck all progress.

what a slack cunt.

been overseas for work and shit, working on other cars and this took a back seat.

anywho i finally got primer on the last bit.

ill give it a long board with 120 over the nest few days and hopefully have a final coat of primer on it by the end of the weekend.

gave it a sand and it came up pretty good.

 so then i got to putting the last coat of primer on the car. in theory thats it for the primer, ive still got the bumpers to do but that wont take long.

now its wet sanding to prep for colour.

been wet sanding.

its coming up really well and its pretty straight which is a plus.

here is a picture of the two sheets of 600 wet and dry taped together.

the green tape has a wax on it and it handles the water without breaking (well, not until the sandpaper is well and truly fucked) but hte tan 3M tape is garbage for this acrtivity, it breaks pretty much as soon as it gets wet.

so the boot lid, bonnet and all the passengers  side is done save one bit i need to spot prime. 

ill turn it around tomorrow night and do the drivers side.'

car is fully wet sanded and im pretty happy with how its come up.

there are two spots that need a spot prime and thats it. im pretty happy with that result.

so today was finishing the drivers side and the roof them getting the bumpers stripped and primed. while i did that i did the coupe of spots that needed more primer.

 

and also in other news its going in the booth next saturday morning for colour.

stoked. 

but right this second im having a well earned beer.
