loest8 Posted February 21, 2012 Share Posted February 21, 2012 Hi there First time doing this so lets see how it goes Got the car of a couple in palmerston North who had upgraded to a MRS Thats how it looked in april 2010 (when I bought it) Got it home to the waikato only getting one ticket for an erratic lane change as swerved for possum. Gave it a wash and degrease then it wouldnt run properly so got told about water gets into dizzy so changed that as looked old anyways still didnt want to run right pulled valley cover off found water down there so drained and new spark plugs and were back in busniuss. next was pod filter on alloy bit of pipe then was set of wheels and tyres from top town after being told they wouldnt fit thought owell might as well try turns out they did 15 x 8 Dtm Banzi +2m offset and 195/45/tyres. Drove round like this for awhile handled alot better but was too high for my liking looked around on forums good and bad info about coil overs and spring/shock set ups. Found coumpany up in auckland (Redline performace) who dealt with bc gold and thought might as well was told by them that they can get them in the 3 bolt top hats up front. 2 weeks later they show up 4 bolt top hats straight on to phone with supplier said they will get the 3 bolt ones down to me 2 weeks went past still nothing called them again saying they where having trouble getting them and would give me a call when they have them in (20/06/2011) Still havnt had phone call from them. Got tired of waiting so thought stuff it its only 2 holes to drill so went ahead drilled holes put fronts in sweet all done brake line brackets needed bit of a file to get them 2 fit. next up was the rear sweet tops bolted up fine get to the hubs hmm 85 aw11 have 12mm hub bolts suspension had 14mm as they are from 87on model only ones they can supply. Rembered someone told me they made spacers so because i didnt have the tools i took car to suspension place told them what i wanted next day car was done with spacers fitted. Next up was guard rolling as the lip was cutting tires then wasnt happy with wheel alignment from suspension place found trd specs for race and auto-cross then back to friends at top town to get new wheel alignment 2 hours later got car back with 4 of the 8 spacers i had made turns out the spacers on the top bolts where stopping any camber ajustment. Car as it sits now daily driven no new problems apart from smoking because of valve guides so am looking for complete motor or just head to rebuild on small budget as also have wedding to save for now. Front has come down 5mm to level it out and is now as low as it can go suspension wise and body before having to notch chassis for axles and exhaust is now 2 inch.
