efp0wa
I purchased some extractors for my KP60 Starlet, totaly obvlivous to the EGR crap. Just started labelling and removing everything to get the manifold off and then noticed the pipe from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve.... Wouldn't mind removing all that EGR shit, has anyone done it before with sucess and able to run me through what to remove/reroute so motor will still run ok. Or else will I need to get a fitting put on the extractors to hook the factory EGR pipe into? Fuck emission shit fuck it....I was hoping to get the headers on tonight but will have to wait for you lot to advise me (sensibly)
Raizer
Remove it all, and block where it went with a plate. /Don't know about on a 4K but on some cars you leave the valve in place and whack the blanking plate between it and the manifold so the computer doesn't throw a fit. efp0wa
Remove it all Thats all very well but the system consists of a lot of vacuum lines and switch/sensor/solenoid things, so i'm not sure what exactly to leave/remove.
Raizer
Then remove the line from exhaust to EGR valve and whack a blanking plate between the valve and inlet manifold leaving all the vac lines hooked up.
efp0wa
It's a odd setup, because the egr valve doesnt go back into the inlet. Or if it does its through a 4mm vacuum hose. Will have a look tomorrow.
Raizer
Is the EGR valve mounted directly to the head? (Only K engines I've played with are pre-emissions) probably will have an extra port in the head for it, whack the plate between valve and head. If it was mine and its not a EFI 4K I would probably remove all the solenoids etc and plug the vac lines at the carb/swap to an non emissions carb. efp0wa
I'll take a picture. I understand what you are saying though, I think I will just remove the pipe from the exhaust and block it up or crimp it. I will remove the pipe tonight and block it and see if motor still runs well.
Snoozin
Sorry mate I got your PM but I've been away for a while. Remove everything emissions related, fit a non emissions carb, and blank off any extra vac lines/ports. This is what was done on my one and it ran fine.
