can any one tell me how to work out coil spring weights?

my car is about 950kg and i have 200lb springs in the rear but these are way to soft.

is there some kind of mathematical equation to figger it out or do i just have to gess and hope its not to hard/soft?

any help would be great as i have to get spring custom made so if there rong i carnt realy take them back.

what are people running in the rear of similar sized cars?

cheers guys

Hookes law

where

x is the displacement of the end of the spring from its equilibrium position;

F is the restoring force exerted by the material; and

k is the force constant (or spring constant).

So if you make a jig so you can put say 10kg or lb pressure on the spring, measure how much it displaces from the equilibrium.

I dont know how the springs in a car are measured but this is a way to do it.

Heres a calculator from the tech section too...

200lb spring means it takes to 200lb to compress the spring a certain distance. I dont know what that distance is but would bet that it is per inch considering its in pounds.
