hey, i've got no spark from my coil in my MK2 escort. so the car isn't turning over. just wondering if anyone can give some advice as to what might be wrong, or draw up a quick diagram as to where the wires go to and from the coil( as some of the wires have been changed in colour from the haynes manual)

thanks

samii.

You should have 2 leads to the +ve side of the coil - a +12V feed from the starter solenoid, and +8 volts from the ignition switch. -ve Coil lead to dizzy.

Check the capacitor and points are working by taking the dizzy cap off and manually opening the points with the ignition on. You should see a spark across the points when you open them. That's the low tension checked. For the HT side, check the rotor arm's clean, cap's not cracked and stuff a spare plug in the end of a lead to see if there's a spark.

New capacitors are often fucked on arrival these days.
