tregath
Does anyone on here have any advice and tips on doing this? I have a 68 mk1 with drums and compression struts which i want to change over to mk2 disks and sway bar. Im hoping to use the complete mk2 front end but it does not appear that the sway bar mounts are a direct bolt as the bottom of the chassis rail (on the mk1) tilts up and is not square like the mk2 (can putup pics if that doesnt make sense). Do i need to have new brackets made up? Any advice would be great
peteretep
post up a pic or 2, possibly you need mk1 sway bar mounts? remember that the sway bar is always under load when in the car, so it might not have the same shape when its not tightened up
d.p.n.s
apart from the front swaybar mounts that bolt to the side of the rails the rest will bolt up if you have all the mk2 front end. and for the swaybar mounts just mark out on the rails where the swaybar mounts bolt to on the rails at the front .then drill the holes but make them bigger so you can get a bit of steel tube in there bigger then the bolt you need and slid it in there and weld arount the outside .then when you bolt the mounts to the rail and tightin the shit out of it it wont crsh the rail. oh and the only other thing is some mk1 sturt holes are the same as mk2 strut tops and some like my van are a lot bigger and you will need to use the mk1 top hat. cheers dan
