Orange
Hey, Basically failed a wof because of a worn out universal joint in my mk3 cortina, I have a complete manual 86 sierra wagon rotting out on a farm, does anyone know if the sierra drive shaft will fit in the cortina to save me from having to replace the universal joint? The cortina has a sierra gearbox in it and both cars have two piece drive shafts Cheers
KKtrips
I would suggest if you have both cars on hand that you A - measure the necessary dimensions on both cars - if it is close then B - take them both out and line them up side by side and if you can confirm then C - fit it and check the splines and yoke.. Raizer
I am going to say no, but I can't remember why My old MK4 failed a WOF because the rubber doughnut was cracking and yeah I'm pretty sure the Sierra shafts don't work, think it might be something to do with the center mount. Orange
Yep... I tried it, it fit perfectly except the centre mount was in a slightly different place, I got the UJ replaced in the end.
Gaz
So whats the centre mount bolted to?
Orange
bolts? what bolts? it's cabled tied to the exhaust mounts... na but seriously, I got the universal joint replaced on the original mk3 drive shaft, I felt as that the drive shaft was too important to be messing around with it.
