Popular Post sheepers
went for cert inspection today. failed on a few minor things, one of which was you have to have the ability to pump your air tank up externally??? WTF I've never heard that one before. anywho, the list is thus, improve rear mounts on both front seats. they are welded to the floor which apparently is a no no. apparently your supposed to weld seat mounts to the roof or something. improve securing of air tank. what the fuck is wrong with tek screws i ask you? the external valve thing. raise bias valve. its mounted on the chassis rail and the knob bit hangs bellow the rail. fix the flex joint between the steering shaft and the steering box. it was fucked, no idea why i thought it would be a good idea to use a fucked flex joint but yea, i did. wheel alignment. so after the cert inspection today i fixed air tank mount, the steering coupling and the bias valve. just have to do the seat mounts and put a valve on the end of the tank dump line and we're all gravy. ill get the wheel alignment at the same time i do the re-vin because the two places i will use are just up the road from each other. this is good. in other news the certifier drove the car up to Kumeu (about 15mins on the motorway) to do the brake test and its reusing great. no shakes or vibrations, temp is stable and everything appears to be working just fine. happy sheepers.
sheepers
the horn and indicator cancel wasn't working because the boss kit is off a celica, you can't buy one for these cars so i made it work. all i did was screw the ring and indicator cancel stalks off the back of the factory steering wheel onto the back of the boss, it was just the right depth and its all come together nicely. sheepers
so, since i got it legal i decided it would be a good idea to go for a drive. on what could be termed its maiden voyage i drove it all around the south island and back. a trip of just under 5000K's. what happened? the M went faultlessly, the alternator died due to my stupidity (the output wire was too close to the body and it rubbed through the insulation and shorted the output) and the windscreen washer bottle bracket broke during the extremely bumpy grasskana. apart from that, it went perfectly. it now has two million dead bugs all over the front of it and its very dirty. i curbed the left front wheel avoiding some geriatric slag who should not have been on the road in Merchison. umm, what else, oh a milk tanker driver just outside Gore swerved into the loose gravel on purpose to shower the car in stones resulting in a chip on the front guard. some pixxxx. after the grasskana the car was a bit dirty. just outside Hanmer

Popular Post sheepers
the main reason for heading south was the old school nationals. if you haven't been to an old school nats then go, don't hesitate, don't stress that you don't know anyone because none of that shit matters. its an amazing time where you meet people who treat you like long lost friends and you leave wishing you could take everyone home with you so you could do it all again next weekend. and that group of people gave me this, peoples choice award is by far my highest accolade. i am millions happy about winning that and i thank you. i also won best coupe which is super sweet to boot. so now i have two sweet awards for the crown and its only a few weeks old. extra choice!!!

Popular Post sheepers
well i haven't done much to this except drive it heaps. fixed a couple of little things (old igniter shit itself, coil didn't like new igniter but nothing major) and have not done much else, just drive it. I went to a Toyota day at Hampton Downs on Saturday and i didn't really know what to expect. they had racing on track, skids on the skid pad and a show and shine so i parked up and went and had a look around. the day was fantastic with clear sunny skies all day. Toyota put on lunch and a BBQ at the end of the day. i went to the prize giving and came away with best pre 1990 and i also won best in show which was very cool.
