Guest gasguzzler
Have heard rumours that lowering blocks require a cert? Is this true? I am looking at putting 2 or 3" blocks in the rear of my ute
davidian
you cant even get them certed if theyre over 2. 2 is no cert needed. however.. 2'' plus reset leaves=win

Gaz
I used that guys 3 inch blocks.. Dont buy them,, they are shit and far to skinny. They are generic and are not wide enough. Build quality is good tho. Also DONT use his ubolts he can supply, cheap as chips and half the dia of standard ones.
peteretep
I bought my 1 inch ones off him, when he asked the how long I needed the rod to be, I just gave him all the dimensions including bolt dia. and they look all good cant complain for $65 all up it was $220 for snells to reset my leaves and add an extra leaf, cost about another $50(cant remember exactly) for them to make up some U bolts to suit

Gaz
I bought my 1 inch ones off him, when he asked the how long I needed the rod to be, I just gave him all the dimensions including bolt dia. and they look all good Serious. The ones I had in my mk1, which I assume are same as your, were way to skinny for the width of the holder. The ubolts had about 1cm space either side of the block which is shit. If they come loose (which is unlikely) the block can move from side to side... Made my own in end with lips that hook over the bracket and are wide enough they touch the ubolts. Now they cant move backwards, forwards or side to side as long as the ubolts dont fall out.. Also got $70 ubolts made, high tensile and same dia as standard escort ubolts. In saying all that I had no problems with my 3inch blocks and shit ubolts, just felt unsafe.
treggo
Fuck I just got my blocks off him. The seem well made and mine are only 2'' so shouldn't be too bad. I'm getting some custom u-bolts made too.

Guest 73gtorallycar
Hi all, I sell suspension for a living aye, You definently don't need a cert for lowering blocks. The only You need a cert for lowering is if You go below 100mm on the lowest structural point.

Gaz
But if your lowering block is bigger than 2inchs/5cms you need a cert for it. If youre block is larger than 2inch then they are illegal, you cant even get them certed. I had to take my 3inch out for a cert and use 2inch ones.
