Timing settings 4G32?

Scrubb

Recommended Posts

Hey just got head reconditioned and new waterpump and radiator fixed and in the process I think the distrubitor or something got moved and the marks that were put on it dissapeared or something.

I think its getting the timing done on wed.. anyone know what the correct timing settings are for my 4G32 in me EX?

Talked to Caboonatlarge and he said he thinks it would be about 5 degrees?

I dont know anything about ignition timing so any help will be appreciated :)

What's it doing?

Backfiring? Probably dizzy out 180 degrees, try spinning cap round to the opposite side and trying again

Check spark with timing light/screwdriver arcing, and smell for fuel too

Long as they're there, you should be ok

Timing=probably what the prob is

Its not doing anything lol

Just turns over and over and over and can smell fuel.. I'm sure its sparking and everything.

I think someone's gonna do something with timing light tomorrow.. I know nothing lol

Stick a screwdriver in one of the sparkplug leads, and lie it so that the shaft of the screwdriver is just above a ground source like a bolt on the car body. I use the bolts from the suspension coming through the body by the engine.

Then crank car and see if a spark is arcing from screwdriver to body

If not, do the same with lead from coil to distributor

If it is arcing, your distributor isn't working right, if it isn't, your coil is stuffed or wired wrong.

Also, check plugs. Might be fouled or stuffed.
