corrupt
problem still to be fixed, this weekend will be when that happens, when i got more than an hour of daylight to fix and appco/repco are open and have the brushes in stock etc... i did retard the timing back to the standard 8btdc and it did help, but did not solve the problem.... corrupt
went to appco this morning, guy couldnt get the right part code for the brushes/looked for 20mins in numerous parts cataloges, useless. just gonna replace the whole starter now, seems the easiest option
corrupt
on removal of the old starter motor i noticed it looks pretty fucked. the bendix gear? was pretty loose on the shaft, there was a loose ring/washer on the shaft which looks like it has come loose from where the shaft mounts at the end, and there was also a half cirlce ring thing which looks to have broken off something, maybe a circlip or something. oh well, put in a starter i found in the garage and its all sweet now, its a pretty noisey starter motor but
