ok heres the blurb,

shift work has shit on me doing much of the work myself,

a lot of what was done i wouldn't have attempted anyway,

*cut 40 out of the centre of the sump and moved oil pickup back added

1/2 bsp fittings to plumb oil cooler back

*custom engine and gearbox mounts

*moved hole back 150mm for gearshift

*new clutch etc

*gear reduction starter

engine sits as far back as possible without wailing on the firewall, and sump plug sits just above the crossmember so 13s may be an option .

gearshift is bang on being back a bit feels less like a ute to drive now and more like a chevette,

radiator will still be a tight fit but changing to a shorter snout water pump

and only a 2 inch round tooth gilmer drive using a triumph tripple core,

ive had on my dohc,

extractors are gona be a bitch but will hopefully clear down drivers side otherwise will be looping under the front of the sump and down the passengers side with the left bank,

am goin to run twin 2 an a half with balance tube to single 3 with pro flow then 2 an a half over diff into side by side 4" dumpies with 3" straight dropped tips all stainless from the extractors back

future plans,

3 stage dry sump pump either a moroso or barnes,

ebay and an uncle shipping chevs back helps immensely

have 15x7 performance alloys like globes without the black outs

go gold centres polished lip,

also alloy sump in planning to stiffen the block

well i'm not even going to fire it until i have the drysump sorted as it has been said the little rovers suffer from low oil pressure but

don't mind waiting as there other jobs tobe done sorting out the speedo

and getting a one inch master in to run volvo calipers on the piazza discs,

also going to send the heads away for a tickle and a plane,

order a new camshaft and bring new timing gear back from the states,

ie buick 215 roller rockers etc,

gearbox is going to be reconditioned also and looking into an lsd to go into my housing early ford is the word as they are a close fit being a

borg, contemplated locker but would void insurance if something happens

i filled an a3 sheet of paper with the list of jobs that need to be done before certification,

but ticked a few off last night,

refitted motor glued up the wheels and got the car back together to look at extractors water pump and removing the stupid steering damper and putting in a smaller unit

gemini019rq5.jpg,

i don't like the glass flares i got so they will hit trademe today,

whether i can roll the guards enough i don't know

gemini016gd9.jpg,

glue takes a bit to set thats why the tires(215 45 16s) are off the bead

gemini018zg0.jpg,

yuck mazda rotor van and a dubious looking spoiler guess the car

feck its tight underneath a gemi rear end,

put the b16 diff conversion on hold for a bit,

going to indent some tires tommorow,

measured up for custom alloy radiator and going to get quoted

tommorow

and schlonged around with my oil cooler,

also droppin off wp to get rebuilt tommorow

good fit between the chassis rails, which is good will look into

getting an alloy valance with a lip done out the front

little bit of progress lately due to days off and acquisition of parts car,

still undersided to go with these obviously in silver and with hidden bolts and a black rubber strip between them and the body,

the superlights definitely have enough dish and offset to stop it looking like a rollerskate.

flarepy8.jpg,

also took my radiator in to get new tanks and brackets made up and my oil cooler to be modified,

have done all the calculations tyre size gearbox ratio etc to find that a b1600 diff will not suffice,

I have opted for a borgwarner vl diff with a 4 pinion lsd from an early xd falcon,

with 3.23 gears giving me 230km/h at 6g in 5th and 3.08s giving me 245,

got my waterpump back from giant in mahana st who did an epic job for 120 puck

all reconditioned and freshly painted including a new gasket,

Will be looking to drop all the front end out soon and rebuild the sump and oil pump

and completely refurbish the front end with some nolathane new zinc plating and powder coating,
