Mr dori
a cheers, i kinda figured that, but hoped it might be something else, awwell pick a part here we come
CaMpylobacter
haha well, surely it wouldn't be a wiring problem if when you tap it, it resumes it's suty again. they're a sealed unit so can't really rebuild i or anything... the brushes or whatever, will be worn, hence why tapping it works - helps bring them into contact again.... Mike-e
^ye. also once in a blue moon the armature will stop *exactly* between the magnetic fields and when you go to crank it it wont move. happened once on my hilux. baby tap with blunt object and i was away
filthy one
Mate i had the same thing a few years back when i had my mighty commy & it was poohed. But i found it cheaper to buy a high flow facet pump {good if you have or are planning engine mods}from repco than a replacement holden one..... RWD4G62NZ
Not 100% sure if this is true but apparently VL external pumps are interchangable with RB20 ones and they are always floating around. My pump for my surgy was doing the same as yours and after a week of tapping it every now and again it burnt out and smelly smoke went through my cabin! Get a new or 2nd hand one soon or ya may end up stranded somewhere!

Jonny
Yer im pretty sure they would be, my mate sometimes orders holden parts for his rb20 and there exactly the same.
