redline racer
The car is a MK 5 with a 2L, have just fixed up the head as it had a burnt valve, now im at the stage of putting it back on the car. Have lined up the timing mark for the cam, is there a timing mark for the crank pulley? or is brining number 1 cylinder to TDC the way to do it? any advice appreciated. Cheers. eke_zetec_RWD
crank on tdc (left most marks), cam mark is straight down inline with with the crank, rotor arm pointing a number 1 lead. time it up and sweet as
redline racer
I notice there are 4 or 5 notches on the crank pulley when cranked to TDC does it matter exactly which mark it is lined up on?
eke_zetec_RWD
the crank spins clock wise therefore the first mark is befor tdc, the last mark (most left mark when it is at pointer) is tdc. it needs to be on tdc

corrupt
Needs to be 8 degrees before tdc when you come to doing the timing. But for now, before you chuck the cambelt on, you just gotta have the cam pully mark dead on, and the crank at the first notch on the left when your facing the engine from the front of the car, dizzy should be more or less set in the right position at lead number 1, but you can fine tune that when you do the timing.
