Guest MasterX
The headlight switch is pissing me off. I always flip it on without knowing it when getting out of the car. Does anyone else have the problem and moved the switch to the dash. Im thinking about it, just wanted to know if anyone else has done it. Also I want to make a boot release inside the cabin so I can delete the lock on the boot lid. Was thinking of putting it above the parcel shelf. Has anyone done this? Pictures? Thanks guys. Jerm
how do you manage to hit it!? i have never... its behind the windscreen thing and all.. if you move it though should be to hard you will need to get a 3 pole switch though...
Guest kris
I've never had that problem either. I bought an electric boot opener from Jaycar - so you only need a button, and you could put that next to the hazard or demister switch. Haven't fitted it yet, so no actual ability to say how well it works. Kris.

mkcortina
why dont you extend the wires and swap the lights for the wipers. and just use a central locking motor connect 1 end to ground and the other to a switch which is connected to 12V just make up a bar to go from the motor to the latch

Guest kris
To Tall? Is that the problem?
Guest MasterX
im only 1.8 metres tall. Im getting WRX bucket seats soon so maybe that will help. Even installing a warning sound or light to tell me the lights are on would work.
atropine
i dont see how buckets will help.. i had a try in a mk2 with buckets (2dr also so easier doors) and they were a bitch in and out.. ps. dear god dont bucket your esky
Gaz
yeah i have an electric boot release in my mk1. I just went to the wreaker and got one out of an old car. Think it was a falcon it ended up out of. Cant memba. I know the mid 80's familia wagons had them and also most holden wagons. Have to make up an adaptor thing tho. Before that i had a cable that ran from the cabin around the boot lid and up the boot stalk. then through the hole behind the seats and up to behind the handbrake. Worked well till it snapped on day. Was a bitch to get open as the boot is now shaved. Had to put togther alot of extensions and a socket
atropine
tssk tssk.. you should always have a backup when shaving... better than people getting remote doors without their own battery..
Guest MasterX
think i will go cable instead of electric, incase something fails. The seats I have in there now are nissan sentra ones I think and are fucking uncomfortable. What do you all ride in? original escort seats? I did a cut and shut job on my 1988 Prelude -> Escort seats. It's a bit involved but worked well. I cut the steel sub frame off the bottom of the Escort seats, and removed the sliding mechanism from the Honda seats. Then welded the Honda frame to the escort subframe, done. Brilliant. Right hight, right position (back and forth) and escort sliders. WOF guy was happy - I am not totally convinced that they don't need a cert tho, and since I am certing the car soon, I'll get those chucked in as well. Brilliant seats. I tried all the seats in pick-a-part, and these were so far the best. Good support. Good luck.
Guest kris
Right, I have (4 Escorts) with Std L seats, Sport seats, Ghia seats, and Prelude seats. I have never had a problem with the light switch on any of these. I can't imagine why you guys do... K.
