  1. Ah shit thought I'd replied to this but somehow got lost in the process Yeah pretty stoked with how its coming along, still love the lines on it and those massive rear side windows. I had bought a spare 1256 off Tony Lynch which I had plans to recondition as funds allowed and get the engine bay looking slick and original, however I have a mate who is putting a 4AGE in his viva so passed on the 1800 and box for cheap so figured it would be the better option to chuck that in. Box is a 4 speed manual as well. Of course being an old Vauxhall engine the only thing the old owner warned us about was it leaks oil like a sieve from a few of the top end gaskets, so we've chucked new gaskets in the top end so that should make it marginally better Hahaha many umms and arrs were had over the whole tollroad thing, whenever we tried to pay it would tell us its already paid, so would generally pay anyway which added trips to it or something, give me your mums number bank account number and i'll chuck $13.20 through. So yeah now have a spare 1256 straight out of the viva, and another from Lynch which is complete minus waterpump, he reckoned it was a real good runner just been sitting a while, was just gonna chuck them up on trademe and see what I can get for them, feel free to make an offer if you like Also the new lump of metal in the engine bay means the front of the viva now seems to sit even lower, not quite catseye smashing spec but it's getting closer. Will chuck up a few pics in the project thread now. Also single pee shooter sidepipe is in, might look at turning it into shotguns like so Will chuck up a few bits and pieces in the project thread now //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/28056-estate-s-viva-estate/page-2
  2. Have a photo somewhere of my old carry with 6m lengths of wood on the roof haha..
  3. What's happening here? Nah don't get excited just an 1800 boat anchor/slant going in. Viva's been daily driven and alive since getting it off Lawrence/Coldturkey, progress been a bit slow due to student budget etc, but has had a bit of rust work and tidying up over the last year or so. Busy swapping the 1800 in now so will update soon.
  4. Can't help with transport myself, but if noone can help you and it comes to needing a company I used Advanced Automotive Towing who did cash way cheaper than any other company had quoted and the guy was real easy to deal with. Might be worth giving them a call to see if you get stuck. He ended up getting stuck in traffic cos of a crash on the motorway and taking over 2 hours to get from Penrose to the shore but still stuck to his quote and was a GC about it. http://www.nocowboys...omotive-towing/
  5. As above, it now idles at 1500rpm with ever so slight surging, so i wound back the idle screw to see how it behaved at lower revs, it will still not idle much below 1500rpm without big surges and stalling. Disconnected the vacuum line from the carb to the dizzy, changed the idle slightly and there was a noticeable vacuum if i put my thumb over the line coming from the carb. Sprayed a few areas with start ya bastard and couldn't find anywhere that would obviously pick up revs, but will go have another try now. Here is a video of it, in the whole video I did not touch the throttle, just the idle screw when you see my adjust it. As you can see at 1500rpm its not very noticeable, and hardly an issue, but lower than 1500 doesn't idle well Oh and sorry about the video being on an angle
  6. It has now started idling fine for no apparent reason, but at ~1500 rpm, it used to idle at ~700rpm cold, ~900 warm. But this also seems to be pointing to a vacuum leak then? Will go see if i can find it now, cheers for the advice
  7. Pretty much as it says in the title. Had my 86 D21 Navara break down on my the other day on the side of the motorway, it just lost spark due to a snapped points spring. Anyway got it towed home, put some new points in it, it started right up and idled fine with the odd drop in revs, but would idle fine and be sweet up to about 3.5k rpm, where the rev counter would bounce all over the show and it would sort of bog down. Anyway I realized i hadn't cleaned or gapped the points properly, so did that, points gap at .020(spec is .018-.022) It will now run fine at higher revs, but will not idle, and surges and hunts at anything below 1500rpm. I picked up a new dizzy cap, condenser, coil etc as they were probably due based on the state of them and the points, so did those. Still no luck. So not too sure where to go from here, the issue it currently has, seems like it would be carb related to me? But it seems a bit odd that the carb would just happen to play up at the same time as it was off the road for the points issue. The carb has always had an issue where the float wasn't adjusted right, so the fuel level in the bowl was below the mark it was meant to be at. But it seems a bit odd that it would play up now, at the same time as the points? I adjusted the float in the carb and now it sits at the right level, but still having the issues at low rpm. It is a Nissan Navara 1986 with the Z18S carbie engine. If anyone has any suggestions as to what to try from here then that would be great. The carb has always been a bit suspect, as above with the float issue, and the previous owner disabled the choke and seems to have done some dodgy shit to it. Cheers
  8. Holy shit that is possibly the sickest car ever, props to you sir. Any chance you have a bigger version of that latest picture of it in front of the garage? Keen to set it as my wallpaper haha
  9. Any more details on this? What size glow plugs are you using? The tiny as little ones in the little 1/10th nitro buggers? Or bigger ones? Running straight nitro mix(like the hobby stuff straight from the bottle, no mixed in petrol?) Sounds like I may have a use for my $20 weedeater engine
