  1. Nice car mate I have a real soft spot for these . How did you get on with the heat wrap I got black as well for mine and within 250km it's lost it's colour and started to rip?? Mine was redline brand. Shane
  2. So there has been a few things going on We got her going on Saturday but not with the bike carbs on. Just the webber. But it goes well big cam likes to rev loads of fun. It's gone back to the workshop today to have a wheel alignment and get the carbs put on. Its needs a warrant and there is a vibration in it at 100km plus so need to get that worked out. I think its the drive shaft. Having the dizzy rebuilt as well so I can get the timing better to suit the cam. Heat wrap on the headers has gone white and started to get holes in it which is strange. Only done 250km. Might try and push to get the 3.5 diff head back in it as well. Still a lot of stuff to be put back in and only a couple of weeks to go. Almost a new car now with all the new running gear that has gone into it. So happy with the engine so far now I want to build a bottom end bored out to maximum and few other things. I still have standard values in the head that could do with an upgrade. Was meant to put it back together on Sunday. Couldn't help myself had to drive it around instead
  3. Hey Brendon, Thanks but we will wait and see it needs it first warrant in a couple of weeks so I live in hope all is good. The paint was very hard work I have put in over 60 hours all up on this or more and am still not happy with it. I used a few things Mr buff cutting compound from super cheap but be care full with this you can rub though paint layers and I only used this by hand. Then Meguiars paint cleaner. And a clay bar as well. and then I have Meguiars NXT tech wax 2.0. I only ever worked off small sections at a time and could spend hours getting it to the finish I wanted. You can tell pretty fast if you can get something out of the paint or it's dead. I also got leant a buffer from a paint shop and spent 8 hours on a buffer to help take the worst off. Make sure that you mask off any vents and rubber bits as not to destroy them. Exhaust has had a flange put at the base of the headers and 2 1/4 pipe right though with two mufflers. Muffler part numbers are RD41413 & PS1182 any way all up cost $452 not to bad but I had to shop around the same company different suburb was $200 more made a big difference to how the car went. I wouldnt go any bigger than 2 1/4 inch. Plus you get a 5 year guarantee. Sound proofing is like night and day compared to the old stuff very quite inside the car now it has a few features that the old schools stuff doesn't.It doesn't retain water, and has a sticky back so easy to fit you can also get it in 5mm I got it form Forman building systems. I used 10mm It's called Formshield . $ 34 per meter plus gst. 3 meters will do the whole inside of a coupe. just get 2 meters if you don't want to do the fire wall. Where are you based? Have you started a thread for your car??? Shane
  4. Hey Pete, I'm trying to work in the track day. But its work in progress at this stage. Your car with the bigger bore would more than likely leave me for dead. Thanks for the help offer I have managed to get it to my mates work shop today so it should be running tomorrow I hope. But I'm sure there are still more issues to come. Did you get a side dissy cap for yours? Or how do you keep the leads out of the way? Shane
  5. Look nice power to weight looks like it will be fun. Did you get your mirrors off Ebay?
  6. The car is in the Glen Innes area at the moment thanks
  7. I'm losing power to the solinid just doesnt seem to be getting a signal only 0.3 volts so the starter wont engange. We did hot wire it and got it cracking over but there are still some small problems to get though the fuel doesn't seem to be flowing the way it should for 4 x 40mm carbs I would expect to be able to smell the gas but we couldnt. The fuel pump is working . So I will call my local garage tomorrow and hope I can make some progress. They are very helpfull and have been helping with the project all the way though. I sure its to do with the Alarm.
  8. Help needed cant get it to start need an auto sparkie anyone????
  9. So it's almost there but the alarm is giving us greef. And the fuel pump died before we started so it had to be changed. I wanted it running today but my auto electric skills suck at best. So if anyone that can do that stuff is free tomorrow and wants to see if they can make it run. PM me.
  10. Been hard at it the last couple of nights and have got all the wiring done exhaust all bolted up alternator in clutch hooked up radiator in. Almost all the small jobs are done now gear box took 900ml of oil which is scary seen they only hold that much. Still have to get rocket cover gasket finish the manifold and hook up the new fuel pump and get the fuel pump blocker so in the weekend should be ready to drive also started finishing off the inside to.
  11. The motor is in many thanks to Billy and Bantam for all there help. Still jobs to do but on its way now just all the little things. New clutch and heavy duty pressure plate Still a little bit of tidy up work on the manifold to be done A trail run to see how much clearance there was a little adjustment done after this and there is loads of gap now.
  12. Dont think mine will make the track day at this stage. Loads of help from my mates is getting it closer but less than a month to go and no engine in yet. So today we will see how far we can get.
  13. Got all the front suspension in last night hoping to get the engine in and maybe a start up over the weekend with any luck . Might even make the monthly meet but will be rough if it gets there. Big maybe. With the seam welding and all the new parts its going to have great handling cant wait.
  14. Any stickers yet?? When I get mine running again I would like it to have one
  15. If anyone has a housing for a LSD liying around let me know will save the hassle of getting one from the U.K?> Thanks
  16. Accelerator cable arrived today just clip in and go great. New spigiot bearing and gear box rear oil seal arrived as well. slowly getting there. Wrapped the extrators with 10m of wrap. It was a nasty job dont want to do that one again. looks ok but didnt really have enough. Worried about the time line have to get on with it. LSD not great news broken clutch plate and damaged housing. But not the end of the world. A new housing can be got from the UK and at a good price. So will end up being like new and a lot cheaper. But will have to go on the back burner for now till the magic funds fairy pays a visit. 3.5 diff is in getting brand new bearings in it at current so I might just wait and do it all together
  17. With time not on my side I pushed on a little more today and got all the sound proofing and insulation in. I decided to go with something a little more modern. 10mm thick doesn't hold water sound proofing and has a high heat rating as well. so should make the car nice and quite. inside I hope. Then for the fun stuff a brand new set of carpets and ford mats . I still have to cut them to fit but they looked great just put in place. Hope fully I will get them all finished tomorrow. I just have to work on cleaning up all the interior now fire extinguisher dust goes every where
  18. Do you mean Luke? Thanks but the hours I have put in are very large 12 weeks off work and 2 donor cars helped a lot. Are you going to the Nationals?
  19. Hey did you sell the yellow shell I guy I chat with bought one just like it not long ago? Your getting closer now looking really good I really want to panel and paint mine but It has to wait.
  20. Sunday work aghh but have to keep pushing on to make it in time. Got the steering rack all painted new boots tie rod ends all done I thought why not do a little painting Then I could get on with the fun stuff putting the new parts on Gear box is ready to go back in just a oil change and new tail seal to go got to this stage today but dont think I will get much done durring the week this week Also ordered a accelerator cable from the UK making one up could be tricky and why when I can buy one ready made.
  21. So I got it back yesterday. Was stoked just to be able to drive it again. I got to drive it around 5 km's nothing really. But better was to come. This morning loaded it up with all the parts I had been collecting ready for it's repower. Today we got the following done. The part of the engine that I forgot to paint?? Who know's why masking this part off was a real pain in the ass Still have to replace the front part of the loom and then Billy and I started talking about other jobs that could be done at the same time. De looming the engine bay?? Taking the front struts out and painting them and on we went with job after job. Some times being fussy is a curse. The list is growing very fast the old list was almost finished now I need to write a new list tonight and move the finish line. Now I'm working I dont have as much time. I think Old school nationals is a more realestic date. Trustee old engine still not sure what to do with this as it went so well. I'm just going to hold on to it for a while and might make a super bottom end from it. All the money has been spent on the head cam and carbbies this time round. And I just dont know if the new motor will take it well. Only time will tell. I have new bushes and new A arms and tie rod ends good thing as the slop was quite shocking in the A arms.
  22. Have weighed up the option of the sierra gears boxes. But I dont want to put a cert plate on the car. And with the 3.5 diff its not relly needed.( on the road anyway) And have been asking a few questions about a clutch. And for street use just a heavy duty clutch should be fine. Good news is I get it back tomorrow. Cant wait have heaps to get done. Going to pick up the LSD on saturday I hope it can be repaired.
  23. Thanks starting to think I should get a better than standard clutch have a brand new one waiting for the engine. But have been thinking bigger is better and would be more fun. Just picked up a LSD off trade me needs fixed so I will take a punt. Anyone have any ideas on the clutch?
  24. Looks good mate. how close till you get to drive again??
  25. Yes a long way but have you seen Warrens work? They have moved to beside the overbridge now. And I dont really trust many people with what can make or break a car. Yeah sticking with the green and the gold stripes. Not many around in that colour. It might get a little pearl in it but Warren can do what he wants.
