Today I did a bit of reshaping on the front spoiler. It looks much better now. Just not sure im sold on how it looks on the car. And its a bit dodgy exiting the driveway. discussion; //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/31343-brennans-ke70-corolla-3sge-beams-powered/page-16 -

loooong time no update. Went back to the above location with the dslr. Got the following result Not much else has changed, wheels are 14x7j +12 Front & 0p Rear Had to "daily" this for a couple of weeks, is a bit noisy. Still just the TS-X8 in the back for music, and seem to be going pretty good. not sure if i should hunt out some 6" vintage pioneer for the front doors, or go new school. Oh and made a whooping 110kw on the last dyno run, bit better than previous 95kw at the wheels. Definitely quick enough & a handful when i want it to be. -
i have a 1991 1uzfe soarer that is doing some strange sh*t, just wondering if somebody on here can offer something we haven't thought of/looked at. when i got it, the Idle control valve was stuck open. so the fresh air line to it, was blocked off. This meant it was dificuilt to start/drive when cold, as it wouldnt hold any revs. I brought some bearings and rebuilt it. it took a while to set it back up again after rebuilding it (not to open, not to closed) but i was pretty sure i had it sorted last night, idling around 600 while warm. Started this morning first go, idling around 600, so was happy with that as it was a rather chilly morning. At 12 i drove to get some lunch on the other side of town. still going sweet. Started at 3.30 to go home (it was bloody hot outside now.) and it was up around 1500RPM by time i had got a few blocks it hadn't changed. and if it was put into park or neutral would bounce between 1500 & 2000RPM ( i read that this is because it cuts the fuel at 2000). Got to my parents place out of town, and pulled the IACV off, and it was WAY open. More open than it should ever have to move. cant see how it could have opened so much between parking it after lunch and as i started it at 3.30pm. so if you could be bothered reading all that, and have some insight or ideas. im happy to hear them. Im thinking maybe the temp sensor is bung. or its something in the ecu. but hope it isnt. Cheers

No way she's making it to nats. Got the 300th attempt at a dyno tune this after noon. -

No promises. But is looking promising that I will be there in the corolla. -
Dumb question, should the wider tyres not be on the front? also love what you are doing with this. Almost makes me want to go out and buy one.

Mate. So glad my cert man also gave me a wof. All my wheel nuts are mismatched and I'm well under 100mm too. Haha For the exhaust. The dynomax super turbo muffler I am using makes it so super quiet. May be worth looking at if you don't like it noisy?

Can't afford to make it to Nats this year. Mortgage and need a new daily. -

So it turns out there was a split in the hose, off the pump, inside the fuel tank. Cant believe it took so long to find it. Need to put the tank back in then go back to Keith's to finish the tune. In other news, im very thankful for making the sump guard for it... May need patches soon. -

Will try make it. Corolla will not be present though. Has no petrol tank at present. In other news, it may have new wheels for the March meeting. -

The cams where doing some funny things on the first dyno too. but that may have been related to one of the many other problems. Guy on altezza forum had a similar cam rattle and eventually found that it was because of low oil pressure, caused by the sump being bashed into the pickup point. Mine is a little dented next to the drain bung. Im also using 5w40 penrite oil, so will go to a 5w30 castrol synthetic and see it that helps. Not really so keen on pulling the cambelt off with what ever else needs to be removed to access the filter. -

It has a rattle in the vvti. Hopefully it is that gauze filter causing it from lack of oil pressure. Turns out it was a split in the hose inside the tank. Just above the pump. So couldn't build up pressure. Can't believe it took so long to spot it. And yes has a return line. -

Oh dam, that doesn't make it easy. Strange as all the other engines have them in a easy to access spot, on the side of the head. -

Yes. New pump is not to bad. Keith found a few forum posts about cleaning the valve/solenoid on the vvti on 2zz and 1jz engines. So hopefully it may be that. Causes an inconsistent oil flow to the cams. -

We did test it off the car. Still only got 20psi. Going back to him to chuck it at him and say its a piece of shit and hopefully get a replacement. As he supplied it originally. -

We got the pump out. It's a Walbro 5ca400. 12v and 50psi (just found out factory altezza needs 62psi, so thats a pretty shit start.) It is receiving 12v and 3.8Amps from the car. And got to 20psi on a gauge when we tested it in car. So we hooked a car battery straight onto the pump and it still only went to 20psi. So my old man is going to see the electrician with the pump tomorrow. does this sound accurate?? from http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/77433-3sge-beams-altezza-fuel-pressure
