  1. Yeah we discussed gusseting it. Would be a super simple job and the base is steel rather than alloy which is nice. Alternatively, it's actually longer than the factory shock, so the factory shock would fit in there (not valved for the springs, but our certifier up here is a pillock and wouldn't know shock valving and spring rates if they took a steaming giant shit on his chest). My cousin (vans owner) is an engineer and the suspension company has asked for feedback and installed pics so can probably go back and say "this is shit, send us a shorter shock insert and a base with an eye on the bottom rather than the side".
  2. Notice how the price of gas is increasing at the same rate that your economy is improving? Illuminati confirmed
  3. Yeah I kinda figured as such. Might be worth going to a traditional shock of the right length or moving the eye. We'll get them in and see what we're looking at
  4. @cletus how likely are these to fail cert on a scale of “this will show up in the fabrication foibles” thread? I'm picking they won't be looked upon favourably. (Rear shock in a Hyundai H1/Imax with separate coil.)
  5. Please keep the header colour scheme
  6. In my opinion... If you're running fused relays and the wire from your positive feed is capable of handling the current and any over current conditions and isn't at risk of rubbing through the insulation to the conductors, then go for it. It it's a nice short run from power source to relay you should be fine. I like to fuse as close to the battery as possible though.
  7. I've never thought of using my spare old computers for axle stands
  8. Julian Edgar is either a pseudonym that Dave uses or Dave’s Dad
  9. I've got an F-series diff in my corolla, and I was able to swap the pinion flange from the factory S-series onto the F-series pinion, so didn't need to adapt the flange. I wonder if you could do the same with a hilux flange on the 86 diff?
  10. Did your UCF20 not have a hydraulic fan? Also do you have some sort of insulation on that allthread? Surely it’s not going to be nice to that radiator core? Having had an LS430 loom sitting in the driveway this last week I don’t envy you having to pick parts of the loom out.
  11. So rev first to 10k and the rest to 9k then? I reckon getting the exhaust done so that all that combustion can actually get out of there is going to make revving to 9k more worthwhile. You need to set up 1nzGarage and get some sponsors on board
  12. We've got one of these sitting in our driveway at the moment, storing it for a friend who is an arborist https://southerntrailers.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/TIPPER-BROCHURE-0117-np.pdf They are insane, so modular, gave me some great ideas for a trailer. It's got a deep cycle battery on it for the tipper which I'm being tasked with charging off the alternator, so I'm gonna set it up like a house battery in a camper with an anderson plug on the drawbar and an isolator in the engine bay of his ute.
  13. Regarding the wiring, recently I've noticed on a couple of cars that I've done that they have the thermo switch and then an override for when the A/C is on, so if the thermo is 89 degrees, it will come on at 89 degrees, or anytime the A/C is on. This Skid Factory video is good too
  14. @Raizer why is there a welder on your cat stand?
  15. Have you sorted your radiator filler yet? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32853053737.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.3cd95632UCYCL6&algo_pvid=19c20a98-9f25-4799-a51d-726758680599&algo_exp_id=19c20a98-9f25-4799-a51d-726758680599-6&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"65349876555"}&pdp_pi=-1%3B22.18%3B-1%3B-1%40salePrice%3BNZD%3Bsearch-mainSearch
  16. Just found this while looking to see if anyone is sailing on here. We just watched Hold Fast coz of the recommendation. That dude Moxie Marlinspike is a pretty big deal in computer security. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moxie_Marlinspike
  17. Could you test different intake setups with some sort of smoke machine without detriment to combustion? Put a smoke machine by the drivers side guard and see how the air flows into the different trumpets? Also, @kpr do you want an old 32" TV for the dyno? I've got one in Kamo and could give it to David T to bring out to your place sometime.
