Hey guys, so as I'm working out seaview way and living in Brooklyn in town, our lease ends at the end of the month and am definitely looking at moving into the lower hutt region. Don't wanna go so far as upper hutt as I'll be moving with the mrs who works in newtown so can't be too far for her to commute. What I wanna know is what are the shit areas to live and what's good? Closer to seaview/petone the better!

So ripped the thermostat out (was extremely stuck in there haha) it opened when I pressed on it but I did the whole boil a pot of water trick, is a 82° thermo, I don't have a thermometer but it doesn't matter cause the water boiled and it still didn't open so I'm taking that its the culprit? Haha

Well luckily having dropped the missus at the airport means I have her car for the week but I had almost a full tank of deez so didnt wanna have to fuel another car haha, sadly I have no service history on it, drove to Tauranga and back last week and it ran sweet apart from getting pretty warm on the kaimais so maybe that's what's led to it doing this. Will start ripping into it after I get up, it does over fuel a fair bit so that could be another part to play :/

So the fucking safari I have, overheated this morning on the way back from dropping the woman off at the airport, has been sweet as and was driving around all day yesterday and everything but then this happens this morning, pulled over and coolant is fucking pissing from the overflow bottle, radiator wasnt leaking though, so let it cool down and filled it up with more coolant. 2 minutes later it does the exact same thing, luckily I managed to get it home! Is there any weak points on these motors cooling wise? I'm hoping its just a stuck thermostat! But there doesn't look to be any water in the oil and all the frost plugs are dry. Water pump maybe? I just need to get it fixed ASAP as I go back to work tomorrow!

Honestly if it came down to rebuilding it I'd bin the auto and buy a manual box, how hard was it to change to a manually shifted trans? If you could link me the page that'd be awesome!

Yeah when I flick overdrive off it just kicks it into that high gear and its definitely slipping as it revs like its in neutral or with a severe slipping clutch in a manual, I'm just going by what I've read on the net, just seems like there's wayyyyy to much ATF even with it not running.

So I know absolute fuck all when it comes to auto trans and my safari is the first auto I've ever owned, anyway, it drives sweet and everything but when I put my foot down to change gear on the motorway either 2 things happen, 1. It does nothing and just slugs along in the lowest gear. 2. It shifts into a really high gear and just slips like crazy. I checked the ATF and its literally 4 times higher than the mark on the dipstick, I'm just guessing that this is the problem and that its terribly overfilled with ATF and its just foaming causing it to be a cunt? Or could there be another problem I'm missing here? I'll drain it out when I'm back home but I'm in Tauranga at the moment with no tools on me. Chur boes.

I got a mirage wagon that I've been using as a daily for the past half a year with no problems, only wanna get rid of it cause I have 3 cars now haha, just done cam belt water pump and tensioner literally a month ago, clutch is pretty rooted but it doesn't slip, just a cunt to get into gear sometimes, WOF and reg only just run out this month, $450 and its yours, I'm in Wellington though but nothing would stop it driving up.

Potentially may even be in kelson on Saturday morning depending how Friday night ends haha so I'm an extra pair of hands if need be!

Only just met this car and owner the other day!! fucking hell was such a lush car!

So i've just bought a wee mk3 mirage wagoooon to run about in while i do a bit of work to the sigma, and was thinking once i've got that back up and legal again it'd be kind of funny/fun to put a different motor in the wagon as i've never actually seen anyone do it before! Was thinking about the 4g61t out of the early cyborgs or even a gsr-x motor out of the FWD sigmas, what i'm more concerned with is what will the standard gearbox handle and what will bolt up to it? I'm not thinking massive power just enough to surprise people haha. It's just an idea at this stage but thought i'd ask too see if anyone knows the information i'm after especially as there is a non-turbo 4g61 on TM for $300 at the mo as well... Chur.

So my mate has a weber 40dfav carb that he's selling, he said he had it rejetted for his cortina which is the 2l pinto and reckons it went a tonne better. Do those adapter kits on trademe work well and will it be a worthwhile upgrade to my shithouse sigma carb? chur.

Also will be in Auckland for a holiday this coming week, may as well make a trip to whangarei and pick them up if you're around maybe Tuesday or Wednesday daytime?
