  1. Absolutely love the look it! Thought I recognised it when ^ came up in my FB newsfeed!
  2. Looks good! Can't wait to see where this ends up!
  3. First things first, Arrived after being with the courier company for.. 14 hours! Turned what was 2-3 snug fingers under the guard.. To tucking quite nicely, Just the day before we drove down to Lower Hutt to pick up a box of fun! (Will edit photos when the light is better!) Just going to sit on all of this stuff until I can source a 5 speed, the driveshaft to suit and mounts etc! Tried emailing Palmside about a conversion kit, but they could only suggest which parts to use! Any tips/hints/suggestions on what to do next! Short term to do: - Lowering springs for the front - Interior either restitched or reupholstered Also may need some new shocks, but I'm not too sure where to go with them, can anyone offer any advice!? One last thing for the update, 37 years of having the driver, petrol tank, pretty much everything being on the right side, it seems to have acquired a slight pimp limp. Is this to do with the shocks in the rear? If so, is there anything better to replace them with, anything "better", or are the original as good as it gets?
  4. Looks like its gonna be a while before I can sort everything for the conversion with going to do it once, do it right and all that. UNLESS I can find a kit for the gearbox side
  5. Considering all options aye, if I could find a sierra 5 speed conversion kit with driveshaft to suit would be going with that!
  6. Was thinking, what kind of work is needed to fit the Kent gearbox to the pinto? I have a complete 1300 Kent + gearbox etc sitting around along with the complete 1600/box in it at the moment. And if I was to do the above, would anything need to be shifted? / same driveshaft? I'm not so into dumping the clutch, so the gearbox should hold up sweet
  7. Yeah mate, a bit of fun for summer, will handle the open road better than the Kent revving its nuts off! Eventually gonna go all out and go new brakes, adjusties in the front, bigger rear brakes, but a 5 speed.
  8. ESKIN8R: Cheers for the information, I knew about the exhaust and the fuel lines, But were unsure about the difference with the 4/5 speed. Dad is a 35th year engineer, should have no problem fabricating a new alternator mount, and he reckons he can chop up a new driveshaft from a spare one out of a previous donor car that has now met it's end. k-trips: Thanks! Will pass that link over to the old man, he loves a good read, I much prefer to talk and learn through conversation! These forums are a wealth of knowledge and I can't thank you guise enough for the speedy responses with all of my questions!
  9. Oh hey there, long time no see! A few purchases have been made! First, Happened so we filled it up while we sourced a new one. A crack in the dashboard has made itself more out there, so a new dash top would be nice eventually. An RS2000 dash would be nice, but finding one will be a mish in itself! Found some recently reset leaves for a reasonable price from trademe, Hulse12 funnily enough! So once they are purchased/get here, she'll be sitting nice and snug! Also got an iPhone5 after working my ass off, so photos will come more often and of reasonable quality! Unfortunately lost one of my "chevoit" caps, so on the prowl for one of those! Bought myself a 4Speed cortina box (I'm sure) along with a new radiator! The gearbox appears to have the serial "17540 - 1" -7.7 on it, and "7BB 7505 AC" on the housing, 4speed cortina box? Also bought myself a little somethin' somethin' for working my ass off over Christmas when everyone was away on holiday http://www.trademe.c...px?id=546385142 With the sump being modified to suit the escort crossmember, will there be anything else to modify? Other than carburettor lines, exhaust and shifting of the radiator? Also, fitting Pinto with the above gearbox, what kind of modification will need to be done to the driveshaft/tunnel? (if any) and also, will that gearbox fit the current mounts, cables etc? Can find plenty on the 5speed, but not so much on the 4! Suggestions, comments, advice, abuse?
  10. Hey mate, I see you put your amp under the rear seats. Do your passengers complain/even notice anything under there? Thinking about using the idea for my escort!
  11. Took it in for a wheel alignment and balance, as they've been needing to be done for a while. The car had been shaking once it hit ~55km/h Turns out the wheel bearing and ball joint are "completely poked" the guy sounded rather vague over the phone but was gonna do a write up for me. Thankfully, from what I could relay to dad, it sounded like it was easily within his expertise.
  12. IMO, hotwires belong on something more EU / US based. Modgies are unfortunately overdone by starlets. I'd definitely go with something like A guy who works over the road from where I park my car for work has a set similar to these on his ke30, looks wicked!
  13. Only one of us need to have class for this gang to be successful!
  14. Cheers mate, will give it thought while I'm away
  15. two_days_late: I live just down the road in Palmy, what sort of prices were you looking for the struts and coby? Josh: Should hopefully getting some progress done after Aussie and during the summer!
  16. Jesse: Bore only adds how loud it is? Friends are already telling me they can hear me coming for ages! Can you explain the differences with Type E and T9? What else do you need to make it fit for conversion? what's it worth? I'm off to Aus on friday so not spending until after that! Josh: Looks mint! People are always curious with the square headlights, once had a guy tell me that mine DEFINITELY wasn't a '76 as they apparently didn't come out with squares! Appears to once have been the same blue aswell
  17. So it's been approximately 5 months since I last updated this, thought it was about time! Currently: The 1600cc is securely in and passed a wof, they were none the wiser (read: engines are identical) Currently running a 32/36 weber carburettor which is pretty standard for the 1600 The engine has lumpy cams in it so it idles rather nicely! The radiator has some leaky parts, nothing "Stop Leak" can't fix for the moment. Still rocking the hotwires, considering swapping back to the steelies for shits and gigs. (thoughts?) Exhaust has been done, now is 4-1 extractors through a 2" pipe with a 2" muffler Which can be seen.. kFwubhvVszk Thinking about welding/paying someone to get a coby AND/OR big bore? May need some opinions here as exhaust is not quite my strong point! Looking for a nice grunty OS sound. Front shocks + springs have been put on as the previous shocks were leaky and not so good. question: Do I assume my saggy ~40 year old springs are 0 height for if I decide to buy shorter ones? Got some nice (tiny) 4" speakers in the standard speaker cases sitting up the back. Just have some sneaky 6x9's to connect hiding away in the corner of the boot. Future plans: New probably Japanese radiator A guy from Dad's workshop said he has a 2L Pinto I can have which has new pistons and rings which could eventually be a goer Shorter but stiffer springs, so it's just as low but not as bouncey? Exhaust is fairly complete as far as performance, next grunty sound is the ideal. Either a Type E or a Sierra 5 speed GBox Still deciding on rear axle setup - rear brakes/diff &c. Wouldn't mind rocking a set of standard steelies, potentially widened. Interior either restitched or re-covered again in a nooiice white like it is at the mo. A respray is long in the future, quite like the vintage / sun damaged / not costing a shit ton of money look
  18. I'm off to Aus this friday for a week, so maybe sometime in the holidays could be good
  19. Jesse, please explain the adjustables! Can't find any on the tard for under ~$750 :L Do they need a cert if they bolt on?
  20. Looks awesome! Can't wait to see the progress. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the respray cost?
  21. Update due AGES ago: Weber carburettor's jets had been drilled by the faggy boy-racers I bought the engine from. The points were done. Timing was out. We couldn't work out the problems so we asked the old guy next door who is a Ford god. Asked one of his mates if they could and they diagnosed everything! Got the jets re-jetted replaced the points did the timing He also dyno tuned it all for me! Such a nice guy!!! Next steps for the Escort: 2" exhaust (Told it would increase the power by 1/3!) Paint job - A friend from school told me he could get it painted professionally for $700! Not too sure on what else I can do to it, anyone got any suggestions!?
  22. We need to get all the local young guys like us to have an impromptu meet up somewhere sometime. Would be great to know a few more people on here!
  23. Escorts running sweetly as of last week, will be looking for some local events to attend so I can meet some of the other guys on here and get some sweet OS stickers to slap on the windows
