  1. Being going to this place. Best burgers in Auckland, cheap, 4 types of salt you can choose for on your $2 portion chips. Parking is no good for car meets. Big J's Takeaway, just off Portman Rd ( opp Turners car auctions), Mt Wellington. Check out their facebook page for new weekly burgers. The guy is a chef and it shows. People travel from the city for lunch here. Closed Mondays.
  2. What happened to the first motor?
  3. As a side note, during the Waihi club season you can hire a Starlet for $25 to race in.Check out their website. Tempting.
  4. Waihi beach dirt track Jan 13 & 14th American cars and hot rods oval racing on dirt. Ive been a few times now and its a great day out. Rockabilly bands, cool cars, woodstock drinkers, a few grown men crying after crashing their cars.
  5. Looks the part! Valve springs make a huge difference according to an article in I was reading on Nascars. You just waiting to paint the head before fitting? Piss up at mine on New Years Eve if you guys around.
  6. /\/\ nice profile photo, yay its summer. Highway Cop base around corner. Bit worried there for a minute.
  7. Dont think that was me tightening that rack. Has the bolt being stripped?
  8. Merry Christmas to me!! Bigger steering wheel means now I can see the dials.
  9. Weber is good. Just needs main gasket about $10 on TM
  10. If you have points you need a different tach. Changed my esky to eletronic dissy and needed the tach with only 4 wires. If you have points it needs 7 wires
  11. $80 for a 32/36 off a 2 litre sierra.
  12. Got a 32/36 for 2 litre sierra that would work. You will need manifold adapter . $80
  13. would stiffer front springs keep the rear inside on the deck? Cheaper
  14. Track day at Hamptons Downs! The Escort made it to the track, first hurdle overcome! Took the rear seat out and pumped the tyres up to 42psi, bit of octane booster in the tank, new engine oil and filter, gearbox and diff oil topped up. Being 20 years since I've being on a racetrack. Car ran like clockwork, no engine or tune problems. Revs straight up to 6000rpm 1st,2nd,3rd, hitting 85mph before braking at turn1 with only about 5300rpm. Handling wasnt too bad, tyres were melted at end of day. Developed a loud rattle coming off the motorway close to home. Checked this morning, two extractor bolts were loose plus one that fell out yesterday sorted that:)
  15. Gives a surging idle as fuel builds up on butterfly
  16. Also have spare Berry and Chung manifold $40. Old carbs sell for $50 on tm
  17. 32 DGV is the correct 1300GT carb. Weberspecs charged $390+gst to recond. You can buy my one or buy old one an do your self. Make sure it has all linkages. Gasket sets are cheap. I found by buying a few carbs you get lots of different jets. It's real easy to set up,. I can rebuild it for you for a beer. Double accelerate pumps squirt both barrels all the time, single do one barrel to mid revs then both when flat out.
  18. Had a 1300 Gt weber fully rebuilt by Weberspec's . Doesnt work well on my 1600 so surplus if keen. Check out my build thread for photos. Be carefull of 32/36s, many for sale are double pumps, you need just a single pump.
  19. Yeah, $900 for seats. On wish list. It has trim along the wheel arches and sill of car. Haven't seen any like that. Thinking black bonnet and tops of front guards to look like early works car.
  20. Car is pretty much sorted other than body work Jobs done: New electronic dizzy fitted New sports coil fitted Weber carb issues sorted New lower and stiffer front springs fitted New electronic rev counter fitted New genuine RS Escort three spoke on its way from UK Dizzy and coil have made a huge difference. Runs smooth, starts easy. The 4 carbs I was playing with, the correct one was the dirty worn looking one I didn't try. I was trying to get the carbs with two acclerator pumps so both barrels were getting fuel, but only one was open until second butterfly opened. Now idles smoothly and great mid range power. Thanks to Billy for spotting carb issue and helping fit the springs. Am starting to build a centre console for some gauges, fuses, and radio. Looking forward to track day at Hampton Downs.
