  1. I worked the coffee van at this event last year. Lots of parts, wheels, books, magazines etc. Lots of Ford bits. A&P showgrounds, Station Rd,Pukehoke. Under cover. 8.30am this Sunday 7th September Then to fathers Day drags afterwards????
  2. Escort off to the panelbeater/ painters for a birthday. Will be there in a modern
  3. Think it will last long after being repaired? Those cracks look terminal to me
  4. I see it at Woodheads Electricial today. He is getting the magic box replaced. It just shuts downs when cold, warm or hot, then starts 30 minutes latter. Think some workers from Lucas went to work for Lumination in the 80's.
  5. Thought no one had seen this auction, damn it.
  6. Shit good tread. I remember looking at these models in the early 80s at Eastern HiFi and Paul Moneys, then getting my cousin to bring them in duty free from Oz. Then recording the record player or radio for mix tapes them were the days
  7. Buy this one for home. i have one the same, never a problem. Have used it for 200 coffees one day. http://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/retail-hospitality/kitchen-equipment-supplies/coffee-beverage/auction-830463226.htm
  8. Just change the water level probe length, they all seem similar. In saying that, if you are only making a few coffees, there will be more than enough steam for milk. The water for the shot will come through a HX (heat exchanger) and isnt really adjustable
  9. Yeah. Forgot all about this post. Got it all back together and working. Sold it to a coffee roaster in the Coromandal Currently descaling a single group Unic. Have seen these Unic's around but never in the stripped state. Not bad for a Frenchy. You find most machines have all the same pumps and solonids, just the boilers and piping are different.
  10. Now that we all had a taste of drag racing in October, time to watch the big boys play http://www.framautolitedragway.co.nz/index.html
  11. I have being the last few years. Awesum weekend. Buy ya tickets online Get there early, racing starts about 9.30. Anyone keen on meeting at the BP southern motorway??? Also about 7 F1 cars. Probably your only chance to see them ever in NZ
  12. Changed the diff to a 4:1 on Thursday night. Scored it for $100 from wrecker. Worked a treat at the drags, knocking nearly a second off my time from last year. Maybe a new set of tyres for next drag meet.
  13. Yeah, mechanic had it and wouldn't shut down for him. He came back from Rotorua yesterday and it shut down. I will swap coils and see what happens.
  14. Not mine but a friends MK2 Ford Escort 1600cc running an Lumenition ignition, turns off sometimes when driving. lights, horn etc still work Engine stops and won't start for a while. Lets it rest and pokes a few wires then it comes right. Think the magic box might be stuffed. he's coming over tonight for me to have a look Any ideas????
  15. Alas the gearbox did not last. Think my reassembly was a but out. Just made it home from whangamata and 3rd gear was screaming. Power was out in East Auckland so had a free afternoon. Ripped it out and fitted a new one. Much better. But after doing the Gumboot rally this weekend, I need a sierra 5 speed. Too hard on the old girl, 100km at 4100rpm. Means tunnel needs work... more $$$$
  16. Well made it to Whangamata and back for Brits at the Beach. Towed well behind the Escort, sat well and flew up most hills, though I did loss traction in 2nd up the first Whitford hill from Howick. New tyres needed. Camped with Jackson in his Transit and another Teardrop of Franks who tows it behind his Ford Consul Capri ( 7 speed custom made overdrive gearbox) No leaks and was warm , rained all weekend.
  17. If I had a bigger tow vehicle I would go 8x4 trailer. That would give an extra 300mm of space in the galley where you need it. Would like a MK5 Cortina station wagon with hot pinto and large Teardrop, ultimate combo! My main items when I built it were 1) light enough to tow behind a 1600cc 2) Must be teardrop shaped 3) cheap to build Most teardrops when camping seem to have popup tents to provide living room and shade. Some 8x5s have bunks for kids inside. I like that plastic core aliminium sheet (alibond?) product for roof lining Maybe 16mm ply sides then cover with that alibond. Double cladding the sides would be quicker and easy to finish. Bloody marine varnish was expensive to buy. I find that a lot of the American teardrops are heavy with fancy cupboards, air cond units, fridges etc. Would rather have NZ made 1970s caravan. To me a teardrop is a better way to camp than tenting, not having the sun wake you up thru thin nylon fabric.
  18. Yeah come on over. My trailer was only 7x4. 8x4 would be great, extra galley room. Because I curved the front of the teardrop, I used the full 8x4 sheet of ply. I would have to join the plywood to do a 8x4. Galley can be quite deep and low, as its above yer feet.
  19. Yeah, next stage. Thought about forming some plywood flowing ones. Have being looking on TM for some vintage ones. Yes for the wheels.
  20. Fits a double 1350mm wide. Will use a 150mm foam el cheapo. Got a single in it now. They just fold in through the door way.
  21. Go for it. Imagine a fleet of these behind every old school car going to NAts
  22. Thanks. the tare weight was 220kg, removed the sides and ends which weight about 50kg plus the plywood= I guess around 220 250kg?
  23. Pretty much done! Ready for Brits at the beach this weekend in Whangamata. Will sort the storage of kitchen things like plates and food out as I go. Keep missing out on double beds on TM so might be on a single. Found the Escorts towbar under the house, sanded, painted and fitted this week. Wired the car for a trailer, worked first time. Now fingers crossed the Escort will tow it there and back, the camper doesnt fall to bits, and the line of surf chicks waiting to get in cause problems in the motorcamp:)
  24. Being varnishing, starting to put back together now ready for Brits At The Beach. A few small jobs left to do, towbar and wiring, catches etc.
