Next up for Otago is the Wheels at Wanaka thing at Easter.
This show is massive and a huge Barry magnet.
Anyone else going to be there? I'm back into fabricating panels and will have some at one of the stalls.

Saw this on a FB post, and just done it myself.
You can order Starrett chart posters and brochures for (somewhat free) from their website if you start an account. Only works for US/Canada so have used my YouShop shipping address.

Looking good. Pulling those whole panels off is a hard decision to make but the best way to go about it. How 'typical' is that rust for a KE? Never had one apart meself.

Now that I have power in the new shed I'm getting onto setting up the gear I have in storage. 1st/easiest is this Tanner drill press - I pulled off the remains of a small winch to raise the table and moved the head up to a better operating height. Pleasantly it did go when I plugged it it.... bearings in the motor sound a bit dry but the quill is as slick as anything - I dont believe this has had much work. 1thou of runout in the quill and 3thou in the chuck I'm pretty happy with. Need to spray the stand to go from yellow -> grey.
Still have a saw bench, bandsaw and english wheel which all need going through, and they're going to require alot more work...

From my own 3.9 Disco era...
16L / 100km was about average 'around town'
13L / 100km best on a longer trip
They love to drink it

I reckon I would, as be as camping at Glendhu bay that week.

Does anyone have any resources on Tanner Engineering? Pretty much squat all online. Don't need it but would be cool to have original catalogues, service manuals etc?

My old boss has a couple of those gmc's including a 6x6. Also has a few of the CMP's? He called them puddle jumpers.
Not a place mid way between Mosgiel and Outram by chance?
Yep CMP = puddle jumpers. There used to be a few parked on the main st in Kurow nxt to the 2nd hand store.
nope, right under my nose at Factory road. Must have driven past the place a few hundred times…

That desert livery cmp would be lush....good mate is a restorer, thought this might be in the Catlins?
It is a pretty cool truck, even I’m partly interested. It’s in Mosgiel, the old boy wants the lot to go to an enthusiast. Reach out if interested

Next up will be NZStato's
Thanks for the business name, looks like it's not the only one they haveNo way...
If I didn't find this one I was going to looking at manufacturing my own. A friend runs a CNC steel cutting shop (where I got the hammer forms made for my LR door skins) and was looking to do a run of frames to offset the cost of the whole affair. Maybe something to do in barry retirement, or I'll get jelly of the pullmax and build one as a project.

Still working on the interior, I have 2x rolls of tar mat into this thing...
To go over it I bought a generic roof lining kit, initially failed by trying to do it all in one go. Was much easier to cut panels in between the roof bracing. Also a cleaner look methings, can run the wiring for the internal light a bit easier too.
I should have just enough material to re-pad this panel which goes above the windscreen. Some auto-archeology in pulling it apart, its just sheet steel in behind the dried up foam.

Someone was keen. Quite a bit for a fabricated one. And also with such a rusty platten wheel and missing anvils, but I guess decent solid ones don't come up for sale every day.
That’s way more than I was expecting…. Have just used it to justify prior purchase as an appreciating investment….

I guess they are big and heavy so freight costs for each movement is going to be extreme. Also, aside from that, damn the one in that auction is a sturdy piece of kit. I'd love a weekend with one just to get frustrated enough that I don't want one any longer
I shipped one from Palmerston North to Dunedin, think it worked out to be ~$300. Less than I was thinking....

No 3.9 or 4.6 has magically come up for sale locally, which sucks and all the good engines are either crazy money or miles away (like the one above). On the plus side, the previous owner is apparently shipping down a crate with the original engine in it, or something that might resemble parts of the original engine. Not sure what I will end up with yet, we will see. If there is enough to rebuild, and its not completely ruined, that might become the plan.
If you find something anywhere between Dunedin and WLG, I could probably as my cousin to get it on one of his backhauls.

In the context to restorations you see of 60s-70s coupes, that is project which is worth it for the right $$.

This is making some progress, but with alot of other things going on with life it has been slow. When I shifted it back into my shed I noted one of the wheel cylinders was leaking.
Need to finish up the interior, check some of the wiring then its off for WOF time.
