  1. With the nats looming I've started getting this log ready. First on the agenda was give the cooling system a good clean out. I already fitted a new radiator but It still wasnt Ideal. It seeped water from the water pump gaskets & thermostat housing gaskets & It still got hot randomly. I stripped the front of the motor to find this: Major Alloy corrosion. It had almost eaten right through. Water was leeching through the alloy. So that called for New stuff..... And by the magic of internet....... BOOM! New water pump, new gaskets, 2nd hand thermostat housing, new cooler 77 degree thermostat & some paint to tidy that shit up. Next up chin spoiler. I got a boot spoiler for free from the local wreckers. I'll try make it fit: I also got this sun visor: Boot is loaded up with triumph parts at the moment resulting in this: & its still not on the bump stops. I'm not a fan of the low rear High front look. So I'll have to try get the front down another inch or so. Project Discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34606
  2. I had lots of time on my hands today leading to this:
  3. Made some effort over the past week. Boom! And a brand new radiator.
  4. I made this chin spoiler at a cost of $5. I like the ones on trademe but couldn't justify spending $200. Yellow headlight tint should be showing up in a few days.
  5. I saw that. Same as my one. I think its dereg mind.
  6. Right this thing is more or less ready for its wof, Rust fixed, exhaust fixed, everything works. She looks pretty rough at the moment. I started giving it a polish but 4 years of oxidization takes a lot of elbow grease to remove. Back up vehicle for the Nationals maybe?? Half polished. Wheels still need painting & polishing, under seal the guards, stick the door trim back on & other cosmetic stuff. Took it for a dodgy drive around the block today. I remember why I love these things so much now. Manual overdrive, power steering and straight 6 donk. Fucking awesome. 7. Ok so after some stuffing around I've found some smaller-ish tyres. 185-55s for the front & 195-55s for the rear. I wanted 195-50's but couldn't find any for a reasonable price. needed a bit of rolling. Now wondering if I should bother lowering it.
  8. If you can get the original PI injection running right its fantastic....Sound wise. Fuel economy sucks balls though.
  9. Glad to see it back on here. If you need any help with the PI / Electronic Injection conversion Hit me up. I helped a mate of mine custom make a Injection kit using nissan RB30 injectors & a link ecu.....and lots of other parts see here:
  10. As above really ^^ If you cant bolt a starter onto it you can always turn it over by hand on a bar. You should be able to feel if its got decent compression. Still a bit of a guessing game.
  11. Shit! The tyres are too wide & rub on everything. So im in need of some 195-50s so clear all the stuff. pics
  12. Just bought these 15x8s, 0pt offset, with tyres. Got them cheap as. I have no idea if they are going to fit but thats all part of the fun. If they do fit I'll be getting some springs made up from cobra & some blocks in the back.
  13. Wof time. Last time around I knew the rear spring bushes were fucked. Loads of side play in the slogged out rubber causing the axle to move and do all sorts of queer stuff. So got these from work Greased them up with the "eze grease." and smashed them in....Flash! I've ordered some superpro front eye bushes because for some stupid reason Nolathane don't do them! Then I'll chuck it through for a wof this week coming. Now to deal with all these other heaps of shit
  14. Sadly they're not. I could do with a headlight as one of mines a bit shit but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Id like 2x 360s though
  15. Just sell it to me so I can butcher it for parts
  16. And if you get a Dayco stat chuck it in the jug to make sure it works. I've had a few dud ones come back for warranties lately.....
  17. I could possibly put the Hunter wagon in.... or if I make some form of effort I could put a wof on the celica.
  18. Bearings will be rooted. Bearing kits for those are quite pricey, 2nd hand boxes are also quite pricey..... Stuck between a rock and a hard place eh? EDIT: Damn... Beaten
  19. No some twats kept outbidding me. I was not impressed.
  20. Now now, there is plenty of Sam to go around. I would like to see both please.
  21. Just some pics I took before I took it off the road. I've sort of had a change of heart with this thing. I don't like the rising sun much anymore, and the hang ring has to go. Also might get rid of the steels & run the Sharak X-1's with smaller tyres & some spacers.
  22. I would love to take it to wag nats. However life as a solo parent limits were I can go & how often (Takes some convincing to get my old folks to watch the sprog for more than 1 day haha) Life story over. I'm fairly confident I'll be taking the wag to the 2013 OS Nationals though!
  23. I decided to do some work on this log. Firstly remove the rooted master cyl. I've done this so many times now, I have it down to a fine art. I also love the way that all the little parcel tray nuts and bolts under the dash are finger tight on all Triumphs from factory. Grabbed one of my hoarded master cyl kits and re-kitted that bitch + cleaned it up... gorgeous Chucked it back in along with new slave cyl & new clutch hose... couldn't get it to bleed up for the life of me. Then I realized that I'd stupidly put the slave cyl upside down. Next up i noticed some cracks in the paint down by the R/H rear wheel, so I started picking at it, as you do. Ended up like this. Shit.
  24. In true British style It broke down again the other day. Felt like it was running out of petrol cruising along at 80kph, then it died. So I pulled over, and it started right back up again. It would drive OK at 50kph then anything over that would just cough & splutter. Knackered fuel pump came to mind.... So limped home & pulled it off. Pulled the top off the pump & found this: Packed with muck! Cleaned that shit out, blew out the fuel lines, Problem solved.
  25. Cheers mate. Its getting there slowly haha.
