Long time no post. So I figure I better get back into it. Discussion thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48465-sams-lada-2104-wagon/ About a week ago I heard a rumor of a 2104 Wagon that may be for sale up Pigeon Valley, Wakefield. I've feinded after one of these for a long time so after a bit of research I tracked down the owners and secured the car. Here it is the night I picked it up Absolutely filthy dirty. I dont think it had ever been washed. However its got some big pluses. It has only done a genuine 62,000ks, it has never been around the clock. They only used it to go from the valley to Richmond and back weekly. Rarely would it go anywhere else. Although its dirty it is in very good condition inside and out. All the original Manuals are present as well as the original tool kit. So today I gave it a wash with CT18 and started to crack into cleaning the interior.....I hate cleaning dog hair off seats!!!! So this pic shows the only two dents on the car. One by the tail light. the other on the Right rear door. Not bad. Such a sweet interior. I love how the gearstick points away from you as they are designed to be LHD Still has the original tyres on the back. And Russian everywhere! So thats all for now. More to come soon

A German once told me a joke "Why do the English like warm beer? Because they all have lucas Fridges." But anyway I pulled all the bulbs out cleaned the sockets, swore at it a few times, put some electrical grease on the bulbs, poked around in the boot, cleaned up the earths, checked the connector behind the grille, tested it and it was still on the piss. Then I slammed the boot shut in disgust with the lights going and they all started working properly.....I don't even know. No doubt they will be on the piss again tomorrow.

I'm trying to fix up the lights on this mini, at the moment they are well on the piss. The issue is as follows: With the headlights on the LH rear indicator is also on all the time. With the lights off and the left indicator on it makes the park lights/tail lights go on both sides. Front and rear and the dash lights to the flashing motion of the indicator. There is no issue with the right indicator, the headlights still operate fine on high and low beam. I'm thinking earthing problems but im not sure where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chur

Diezel D-Window steels Not flat mounting face?
Slacker_Sam. replied to Slacker_Sam.'s topic in Tech Talk
I'll take them back to the tyre shop tomorrow. I took them to work and showed them to the local certification guy, he didn't like them at all. Way too much stress on the studs. As the nuts are tightened the wheels are flexing and pulling the wheel studs inwards. I had a look at some ROH's on my workmates hilux. Meet up with the hubs nicely. No gap at all. The centre hole tapers back in to meet up with the hub whilst as my D-windows are dead flat where they bolt up. -
Diezel D-Window steels Not flat mounting face?
Slacker_Sam. replied to Slacker_Sam.'s topic in Tech Talk
It doesn't sit nicely at all. There is only a tiny outer area in contact with the hub with a gap of about 3-4mm behind the mounting face. Even old modgies have a reasonably flat mounting surface. It almost looks like the D windows have been pressed wrong. -
So I got a set 15x8 Diezel D windows for the Mrs' Toyota bB, I fitted them up yesterday but they just dont seem to be right. Where they bolt up to the hubs isnt flat. See here: You can see where the hub is touching on the outside. So naturally I thought that maybe the bB's hubs are odd ball. So i tried them on a friends Civic and it has the same problem. Basically they dont mount up flat on the hub, leaving a gap behind the mounting surface. Like this: see the gap? there is nothing supporting the wheel other than the studs themselves. Needles to say I've taken them off the car. My question is, do the wheels look like they have been incorrectly manufactured? Surely the mounting surface should be flat? Cheers

Pic-less update. Summer is coming so I'll be getting the old girl out of the shed for a wof. But first the front suspension is well and truly rogered. The front struts are very clunky. The rear isn't much better. So I'll be pulling it all out & installing new shocks, spring pads & bushes. I also need some new Eagers as my sidewall are cracked to shit. -
Just some random pics: and a couple from the drive home:
