  3. haha surviving!!! my missus is from there so we went to visit her olds and i wanted to see where she came from, its different as over there, like another planet. Im a 6 ft 3 tall skinny ginga so i was walking around in my shorts n tshirt towering over the masses. But really cheap shit over there, 100 china dollars is 20 bucks here and it works out real cheap. But all the while i left my car in the neighbours garage and they were moving out 5 days before i was due back... when i left so i was wondering what would happen to "my" garage and the car. It worked out fine, the new people moving in were chinese so i tried out my new lingo of 10 words on them and they were sweet. i managed to keep my car in "their" garage and the guy kept bringing me out whiskey in cups all afternoon, i got pissed quick, but i was happy cos he didnt understand a word of my english but he kinda knew what the score was haha. The situation was a bit strange but it worked out fine. Yeah so i can carry on.... WIN
  4. OK so went to China for 3 weeks, havent even looked at the beast lately... But i have done the.. Brake lines, re-done, bloody brake flaring tool was poos and wasnt working well with the steel, l learnt...get the pros to do it. Clutch pedal installed, connected, bled it. Works. Amazing. Driveshaft loop fitted. Undersealed all of the car underneath. Shit job, do before you lower it in future. Fuel lines ran to the front, clamped, plumbed into the fuel pump and return to the surge. Things on the most recent to do list... manifold finish, main part done... wastegate outlet to be plumbed into new dump pipe. Fit line to fuel rail and the filter... piping to finish the fuel line completely. Bleed brakes, then brakes done. Oil feed and return to-from the turbo. Work out what needs to be done to allow boost on the inlet side... Have some ideas but limits are about 5psi. enuff for me. Rest of the exhaust...
  5. I have a k50 with shifter gbox xmember willin to part with it for 100 bux for the cause, west auck pickup pm if interested
  6. hey alex about those crush tubes on the chassis where the x member bolts up.... The existing setup didnt have those did they, and the 4inch rail has a vertical bolts to the top with a nut bolt to it and the bottom end being part of a rubber mount configuration. Did you actually need to do all that or do they have a crush tube in there already? Who decides if its needed?, Its holding the front end of the car to the front x member and stuff? Me thinks i'l need to do that maybe... Easy job tho innit
  7. what were you quoted for the trailing arm bushes? the superpro ones? they should be only 160 bucks for the 4 (both sides)
  8. prob what id do to save the fab work on the sump would be to reverse it and extend the pickup pipe, if the steering rack is at the front of the xmember, my initial thoughts were mount engine to xmemeber then when i tried to put the rack backin it would nt fit, even after some bashing. but yeh dunno what a 20v sump looks like, so yeh, reversal should be first priority id say then plan b cut the sump. beenfits of sump at back is wont get smashed if your droppin the bitch down.
  9. the extent of the surge tank... cert man reckons grommets thru the body are ok... the lift pump... and the main pump of an integra...
  10. found this on my travels on the net... the q of how to run the water pipes is now solved.... and also need some of these for my fukn expensive gbox bellhousing... il be making these...
  11. Ok update time: Got the spigot bearing in.... managed to chip a small amount off the clutch but not enuff to worry about fark!, lined it up guessing where the centre should be.... and then for the turbo return tacked on a power steering feed pipe onto the sump pan, so hopefully i can run a cooler and the turbo return, maybe even catch can all back into the one line. Progress continued as a bolted the sump back on and married the gbox and engine back together, thinking it was gun be a 45 min hassle the bloody thing dropped in i wiggled it for 20 secs released it and it slid together, what a fukn dream!!! Will put the engine mounts back on today and sit it properly in but for now the hard part is over!!! ... Problem with my inlet manifold, the part i had excluded from the inlet the tvis part was vital to matching the ports i found out that when i bolted it on the top part doesnt marry up to the head at all so air leaks would be happening) took it back down to the bro to tig on some alloy for that portion and ask when the exhaust manifold would be done (tacked but needs filling up the gaps)... Bought some p clips for the steel bundy fuel lines and nylon holders for the brake lines so will be installing that this weekend.
  12. so the weekend was looking good so i dragged her out to get some rays and sweep the floor of the garage before taking engine out for installing the spigot bearing and the oil turbo return. got most of the stuff needed for this engine, considering i bought it as a long block. heres the new place i put in for the surge tank... the extent of the rear arch i put in, alot better than waiting for the rust to set in and have to do it over again... i love the stance of this thing... must make a goal to have it runnin for the summer time... thats all for now
  13. Running the fuel lines from the boot out under the chassis.... eh anyone no what the legal requirements are for this? Ive got some line rated at 100psi going from pump to steel bundy, and one for the return line to the surge tank.... some flash people have put a unit in where the lines connect on each side but if i put a hole thru and run straight pipe out with gromment surrounding would that be enuff? Cheers
  14. yeh like candle wax... but the bushes i got ended up cheaper, 160 for the 4 bushes, found the following, part number spf0070K trailing arm lower spf0070-2k upper arm chassis end spf1663k - steel cased axle end top arm bushes quote them this stuff and theyl get them in. or just got to http://www.superpro.com.au/find-superpr ... Search+Now supercheap are the stockists, its good to do this cos i aint got no pan arm rod or whatever it is and they look like they will swing out when i go to snot it mid corner...
  15. Just finished the brakes side of things and running the lines for the fuel have opted to use 8mm bundy which bends releativly easy, just need to suss out a weakish pump to fill the surge. Next is the bolt the lines up to the chassis and finish the underseal. Welding the last of the ends of the sills in too. Gasless mig was splattery but got the job done. The other part that wasnt looked at was the trailing arm bushes, i got these rubber ones out and put some nice superpro's back in coutesy of supercheap, went on the hunt and found that autolign had none, but the would pour into existing ones with nolathane for 75 each plus gst. Teh kit to do 4 was 169. The upper arm bushes are on the way too, then its the axle end looking like steel cased ones are avail but go for 210 for 2... maybe wait on that one. The handbrake got sorted and now the front brakes and rear brakes are done. I will have to pull gbox out and cos i left out the spigot bearing, fark, and also weld in a turbo return line for the tdo4 and the catch can. Next will be the water system and i managed to find out how to plumb the 4age thermo stat in properly. Things are looking up for the old beast. Maybe ready for the paint again soon if and when this weather decides to sort its sht out.
  16. OK guys time to rack some brains I got a bosch 3 bar external pump and another pump off an 87 ish efi'd integra which is external too unsure of its pressure capability. I wanted to get a weaker pump to fill the surge tank, but is it dumb of me to run one as the lift and the other to the fuel rail, one surely will be over doing it. And then another q. what should i use as an alternate? Also running fuel line under chassis, 8mm ish steel bundy tube ok?, will it bend ok or collapse? Someone has done this before, its only for my 4age so no more than 50 psi will be needed Cheers
  17. And also for the TD04 i got some steam bends and im planning to do this.... sort of,
  18. Well apart form it being dark and cold ive done fark all to the beast in the past month, I did however find some vital parts to ensure the stopping thing works when i tell it to. I originally had a 13hundy axel which had cable config handbrake, the 18hundy one used a steel rod mechanism and was totally over the top. I ended up chopping the y splitter thing (i call it) off another 13hundy axle and welding it onto the 18 hundy axle, now its sweet. The brakes are in but the park brake strength aint all that good, must need to bed them in for a few k's. Here is the last portion of the rust work using a gasless mig, thank god i can grind the splattery shit away...
  19. This thread is interesting, but it goes from 2 seperate things and kinda makes it confusing. From my understanding and study so far... Dizzy coil ignitor - timing stuff <<< main area to focus - but once its left the dizzy cap its of to the leads and plugs so it cant be that stuff past that point. TPS, MAP sensor, Manifold temp, - regulates fuel by adjusting the injector pulse width. If not enuff gas will cause surges. Always the simple things are overlooked. Earths are the major. Check all the brown wires, to be sure run earth from engine (this means block and also inlet manifold so 2) to chassis, battery to chassis, ecu to engine. ecu to chassis. No change. earths eleminated. no harm in running earths. But reading it sounds like its retardin when it should be advancing... DIZZY will be the first port of call. If youve rewired the thing the wire widths or amount of current flowing will matter greatly (fat wires less resistance). I havent yet started to wire my 4age so im expecting to find that it wont go that easy. So one also told me about JDM stuff and other stuff being mis matched, all stuff should be standy bluetop... There was a tech article somewhere about redoing the dizzy bearing and it explains the wires inside as well... And plenty of bench going 4AGES feature on billy sherwoods page! another good place to look too. Swap ECU over? Swap Ignitor? Dont go to carbs... see it through... you will scream joy when it works and dry hump anything in site.
  20. cheers bro... i will have to have a look for that sh*t i think its still here somewhere... shot. also deciding to redo all the brake lines cos i went and got a flare kit fom supercrap auto and after a few goes got it sussed. Had to change the booster from the OG one.... no room for my long intake manifold as is how the 4age goes.. 1.5 laser brake booster and a 1.6 telstar master cylinder (the ends (tits) come out the other side ....so had to change the ends over... i think its better to start again and then it'l be clean and new looking. Its bolted in and works a treat so now just a mattter of plumbing the lines again. One of my wheels i got banded has a slow leak so il strip it and send it back to the guy... takes 40psi to get to 15 approx 2 weeks.... fark ....beads were ok got a tdo4 too... still contemplating to put it on cos i would love a little bitty boost cant imagine gettin more than 7 outta it? Any 1 know hw much the ol 4AGE can handle (3 rib) i do no that its fuck all but just thinkin if i get it certd for a turbd 4age then next one goin in 20v etc will be good ....(spent heaps on the rebuild engine already) I confess ive done fark all lately... the weathr i shthouse and i have been gettin home when its dark so its nto a reel motivator...weekends are still good but the missus is always giving me that guilt trip....sad.
  21. Hey this is an interestin thread... I was in the same boat.... well i removed my tags off my beast and painted it/tidied up rusty parts. tags put in safe place.... GONE! someone tidied up... Went to local vtnz rosebank rd akl... found the oldest looking dude and told him all what happened. I tried to ask about "If my VIN tag was damaged beyond recognition would i be able to get another one made up, and whats the process. $83 dollars they need to sight old vin tag and then they'd change it... So then i says na ... What about if i lost it? He says write a letter to the VTNZ , all and any supporting documents. I photocopied everything i had including the ownership papers and old paper stuff dating back to 1977 all of it was copied and then went to the JP and got them to sign off on sightin the originals... Wrote a letter... About how i got my tags lost/misplaced.... Added it all into a envelope sent to NZTA wellington and then waited.... and waited .... and waited.... 6 weeks later Letter arrives. Alot of Gobbily goo stuff big words but in a nutshell .... Take this letter for the next warrant and its all good. No VIN tags etc. Things that were not in my favour... selling engine and gbox with original engine ID .... Things in my favour... told them i had 2 cars stolen already (no bshit) and i was in no way trying to re-identify the vehicle. Reg was on hold in my name. Good luck with your efforts....
  22. chur off to horopito aye? fucken choice ones... Im originally from kune (Ohakune) bout 5 mins away and have been out to the wreckers heaps since i was like young .... Tall guy colin runs the joint, he's always fucken busy, his wife barbs is ok tho if you need to talk about parts etc... But they do like to charge heaps - so yeh try your luck i spose... The week later is a fest on down there for the opening of the snow season... heaps of peoples will be around stink that il be up in aks tho... HAVE FUN BOES!
  23. I like it alex, its the shizzie! I have a plan dream to convert one of the ol yellow bus co' buses to a living mobile unit camper.
