  1. is "old people and classics" on this weekend? i refuse to call it caffeine and classics since there wasnt a coffee cart there last time which was stupid!
  2. im hoping to get classic insurance on this sometime in the next few weeks (i would have it already but my dogs decided she needs x-rays so have no money) but i need to give a value of what its worth. what do you think its worth? discuss here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?showtopic=31873
  3. Th350 transmission squeals in reverse, doesnt do it everytime i put into reverse but quite common. fluid level is correct, dropped the sump recently and changed filters and fluid and still makes the squeal. any suggestions?
  4. My vega is Nz new so has black plates, but the front black plate came pretty ruined it looks like someone lost the original one and has found another plate and riveted on a letter but then I'm not sure why it doesn't have the top and bottom? That's a mistery. Anywho what I've done is traced around another black plate I had and cut out the centre to math my fucked plates and silicone the middle part in. And mount into a stainless backing plate I'll fill gaps when dry and paint it I sapose And I also cleaned my new door cards I scored from The wreckers with firstly the hose then with a vinyl polish shot came up minted!
  5. this is becoming more apparent the longer i own this vega that it actually isnt that uncommon to find them!! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/chevrolet/auction-738502095.htm
  6. Been driving the tits off this thing for the past few weeks so much fun to drive! In today's news I woke to a txt from Sheepers "Nick (the guy who was at my house yesterday) tells me that pick a part Hamilton lists a 74 vega S/W In stock. You should totally check it out. " So within ten minutes I was in my car picking up retep130 and sentra and on our way to buttfuckin Hamilton to check it out! She pretty fucking rusty! But was a treasure trove for small pieces that I may need in future like tail lights n shit. Also was a 'GT' so has nicer door cards and a manual gear box, unfortunately box was gone already but I did take the manual pedals incase I want to manualise it at a later date! Fuck yeh! Oh and it had the front valance I was missing it was in bad shape but 100% restorable! If I had lots of money I would have taken all the windows but oh well still a mint hoard
  7. oh wow not to be rude but man thats some yuck welding haha. to me seems like you flailing your mig torch around and not going in a straight line. need to perch your left hand still against the sheet metal to get a clean even stephen weld. and do as kyteler said and do hot spot welds across the metal make it look like a row of quarters stopping occationally to let cool even put a wet rag on it if you like. be all like bbbbbaaazzzz.........bbbbaaazzzzz........bbbbbbaaaazzzz stitch it up so the steel doesnt over heat and distort
  8. Scored a sweet better condition drivers seat off trademe for $35
  9. Sorry bronze the old fuel pump is rot808s spare one so I'll give it back to him since it's so crappy haha. Nah I haven't done a skid yet kid thought I'd wait for Auckland meet to get Maximum Tara Chris concerned face!
  10. In my warrent sheet me wof man wrote I needed to look at my brake pads and front wheel bearings so true to my word I looked into them. Surprisingly went to segedins and one of there stockists had brake pads for vega/monza in stock so 24 hours later they were installed. And wheel bearing packet with new grease and tighten up.
  11. Yeh sorry, which ever way round it goes. I think 202 is coolest motor for Bedfords. Putting something more powerful in them is just silly because it's a big ass van but it's not heavy like and American van also it has terrible handling it's super tall off the ground it's never going to be a race car. 202 hauls ass up hills it's all you need My opinion of course
  12. get a rebuilt 202 then? go for a blue 202 3.3 litre injected rather then a red or black 3 litre carby 202
  13. So had a ball ache with the car using a shit ton of fuel. with the help of reteps fuel pressure gauge we determined the fuel pump was garbage and maxing out the 9 psi gauge when the carbs only made for maximum of 6.5 wen with the reg tightened right in still way to high! So that shit got tossed in the bin and new pump installed Oh and then this happened!
  14. if everything goes to plan ill hopefully bring my chevy along this time
  15. Also does anyone have any Chevrolet badges that may look the part on this? Vega never had any apart from vega on the front which I don't have and will track one down. But wouldn't mind having maybe a chev bow tie on the front and a Chevrolet on the back
  16. Ok so shit be getting done! Motors in, pipes on. Took for first drive. Which threw the gillie belt clean off because had them to pinging with the alternator not very lined up with the other belt drives. It seems to be using far to much gas at the moment so thinking I might have to re jet for the v6 which I'll look into this week. Also want to bleed brakes before warrent. Also sunk 2" temp gauge and oil pressure gauge into original dash to try keep it clean inside and the temp guage was in stupid American degrees. Was on the beach yesterday and found some knuckle dusters in the mud flats lol thinking about making a shifter out of them since mine doesn't need a button on top.
  17. andrew who owns them is a wrecker so just just call him! monster metals on trademe
  18. I did consider going 308 but the overall cost of the conversion sky rockets compared to the 202. Also talked to old boys who use to do the 308 conversions on them back in the day and said the v8s are a lot heavier and have to put power steering in to work well. Also if I went 308 I'd want to put a better diff in aswell so 202 was perfect for me. It goes hard especially with the 5 speed!
  19. If u fuck the Phillips bit but get it off you can just buy some more they come up for sale all the time on trademe. Let me know if u want any info about motor conversion as I've been through it all and found 202 to be value //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/39698-1979-cf-bedford-bey-thats-mean-as-van/?hl=%2Bcf+%2Bbedford
  20. issue was segedins isnt open on sunday and repco wanted a billion dollers for hosing so i made up some copper hosing that was too small in diameter for the volume of liquid so it was pissing out the hose clamps, but i went to segedins today and sorted some hosing which is now installed. in other news was playing around with some wiring and turned on ignition and could hear some what of a mosquito noise coming from rear of vehicle, pulled the hose off the external fuel pump i installed into the engine bay and turned key again and fuel was hosing out. so yes it has a fuel pump in the tank. sweet! went and bought lots of shit from woolf mufflers today to weld up exhaust next few days
