  1. Sweet build mate! Love where this is going. Where did you get the wing from ? Have been trying to hunt one down for ages. JDMwheels.com.au do repros but they've let me down. Cheers Tai
  2. Cheers Karl. Not sure exactly what model 1200 it's off, might be some ADM variant but there's a similar one on the r100 that is the same design but pointy in the middle with the pointy bonnet. I don't think the ducts would work because even then there is no space behind the lip, slanting under the bumper could work though! would make it look less flat peak, especially if we get it painted black. Will be painting the lip black as well. Cheers, Tai.
  3. A lot has been happening. Was over in NZ for a month during Xmas/NYE but now back in the land of Perthstralia and stoked to see plenty of progress on the little Mazda. First thing you guys will notice is the staunchness with the Madhouse front lip which has been cut down and mounted up, also have the 1200 grille mocked in place. The radiator is now mounted up properly but we're having issues with fitment for the oil cooler. We were going to put it behind the grille/in front of radiator but as you can see there is now room to mount the rad fan behind as there will only be a few mm clearance so have to mount it on the front. The plan is to notch a section out of the bottom half of bumper and have it hanging out a little, not really what I want but it's the only place suitable with lip fitted up but will try and tuck it in as much as possible. The engine bay scuttle panel (I think that's what it's called) has had a new plate welded up and gussets at the bottom of the firewall are welded up for a little reinforcement. I've also been hooked up with OG Mazdaspeed engine mounts woooooo. more ancillaries have been fitted up aswell and some bosch coils have been sourced. ECU Semi wired and mounted up in the passenger footwell by the firewall. Lastly the front coilovers are now mounted up but awaiting the strengthening plate at the top of the mount to be welded up. Rear springs fitted and diff mocked in place. The diff gussets have been removed due to clearance issues but we're going to work around it and sort a better fitment for them. Once the engine is sorted, next is fuel system then should be ready to fire up!!! That's all for now. Please criticism/abuse/praise here http://oldschool.co....mps-mazda-1300/. Stoked to hear what you think. Cheers, Tai
  4. Cheers bro. Looks awesome by the way.
  5. Which outfit did you order them through? Could be keen to sort some, sometime soon. Cheers
  6. So the rx4 crossmember is now sorted but waiting on mounts from the crossmember to engine to be organised and fitted. We're also running the factory crossmember for further strength. SOme of the front end suspension bits have been fitted but are yet to be reconditioned or replaced (still checking clearances and what not). The rear wheels have been test fitted on another Mazda 1200 w/the same rear end setup (however mine will be 30mm lower). Wheels sit pretty flush with the guard however guard lips will need to be rolled. Looking at running some 165/60/r14 Toyo Proxes r888 to make sure it wont be spinning all over the show. Have also ordered replacement steel front guards due to rust (cheaper to replace than repair which is a bonus), also the left side floor pan and a Madhouse e70 corolla front lip which will probably need hacking up to fit. Rather than tidying up the standard grille, I've opted to swap it over for the 'sunken' r100/1200 so have one on order as well. Unfortunately no pics until I get back from my xmas trip however but hopefully it will almost be on the road when I get back. Cheers, Tai
  7. More pics of the wheels Wasn't able to polish up the Jilbas too well close to the bolts but i'm very stoked with how it's all turned out anyway. Gave them another once over polish before I dropped them off. Now time to work out tires and sizing, any suggestions on what to go for, i'm pretty clueless when it comes to tires but have heard Bridgestone Potenzas are the tits for street. And a bit of progress on the engine.. Intake setup mounted up, will check clearances with bonnet to see if we can get any taller trumpets for extra dort then I can sus out the airfilter (probably going ITG or Pipercross). Also the oil cooler mocked up... Will be hiding it behind the bumper but may run lines out the front and curl back in for mild boso. Today the oil cooler and radiator should be mounted also the rx4 crossmember shortened and redrilled. The engine will probably come forward a little, clearance will be tight between the e-shaft pulley and radiator (maybe about 20mm) so will be putting a electric radiator fan on the front. Chur
  8. Wing mirrors are now 'Savannah GT' spec, but really just plasti-dipped them. Plasti dip is pretty awesome to work with I must say! Also had a go at polishing the SSR's.. Before After I don't have the patience to get out all the pitting and I'm no Simon when it comes to polishing/mirror steeze but I'm happy with the outcome. That is all for now. Chur
  9. i'll just leave this here... Close. This makes me excite. Tai.
  10. More wheels arrived!! Hayashi TRV's 14x6.5 +9 Also got the right ECU this time around. So turns out there's a lot more rust than I was hoping for but ah well. I have ordered a replacement front floor pan as it's cheap enough and easier than patching up, coming from Phil's Rotaries which I have heard pretty mixed feedback about so fingers crossed. There's also rust in the boot/around the spare wheel well that requires attention so will need to get that sorted. Ahhh more money I don't have to spend >.<. Cheers, Tai.
  11. Yea they're alot better than I thought they would be, being repros so pretty stoked. Pretty similar to the Savanna ones but stalk's a bit chunkier and mirror thingy is a bit sharper. This is the ebay seller http://www.ebay.com/sch/partshop2you/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Tai
  12. Cusco AE86 struts, shortened axles and diff center. Ended up going Hilux 4 pinion open center rather than LSD, was talked out of using a Hilux LSD due to strength so going to save up and upgrade to an after market LSD at some point. Other bits and pieces including Willwood Dynalites and the Alloy rad in the box. Will be dummyfitting the engine again this weekend and be working on the suspension setup next week. Will hopefully have it on all 4s for the first time in 5 months Opinions and shit talk always appreciated //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/44085-tai-scamps-mazda-1300/?hl=%2Bmazda+%2B1300 Cheers for looking, Tai
  13. Intake setup thus far. Will be getting longer trumpets, paint up the manifold black and anodise the fuel rail and Gilmers black.
  14. Ba-donk-a-donk. Plates will be coated in black wrinkle paint and the dizzy is going to be blanked off with a pickup for the ignition, probably going to go ls1 coild now.
  15. How the engine bay currently sits, removed the battery tray and smoothed off a bit.
  16. Ok so more progress on the mighty Mazda. Progress has been slow over the last few weeks, still no pictures of the engine setup but you can be patient. Anyway a few purchases have arrive at my door which include the following... And You may be thinking.. "Oooosh! They don't look like XR4 Longchamps??". Apparently the Longchamps were already sold before I purchased them so that fell through. Managed to score these from the homeland through the legends of Pine Engineering in ChCh, specs are 14x7 -2. Not as aggressive as I was hoping for but may look at widening in the future. For the meantime will polish them up and paint the centers (thinking red or gold with the raised spokes polished or maybe even copper coat). The mirrors are repro 70's ra/ta Celica mirrors. Paid far more than I should have but I was sick of trawling yahoo japan and ebay. Also received an ECU but the order was mucked so getting the right one tomorrow. Will be running a Haltech Sprint RE, not sure on the ignition setup yet but will get to that when we need to. Another pair of wheels should be here next week as well so stay tuned. Chur, Tai
  17. Was hoping more would be done by now haha but its all good! Will hopefully be on the road mid december before I come back to NZ for xmas and new years. To be honest it seems very similar to NZ however many minor mods still need to be either permitted or engineered which is pretty much certification. They have some silly laws like no bovs unless plumback due to engine fumes being released into the atmosphere lul and chassis mods like cnotching for minitrucks and airbag setups are extremely hard to get legal.it does vary state by state and I've just dabble with the tip of the iceberg so will see how it goes. One thing that is shocking is cops can sticker your car under suspicion of illegal mods and they arent really trained in regards so what I hear it can be a nightmare.
  18. Probably about time for an update... Haven't been able to get any proper pics but things have been happening. The engine bay has been sand blasted back and some gussets have been welded in. We have removed the factory heater unit and will be welding it up and replacing with an aftermarket demister unit. The engine has been built !!! Have no pictures yet but i'm over the moon. Have gone for an IP bridgeport, so pretty much just under a J-port. Have had the rotors lightened, engine balanced, chamfered E-Shaft, 3mm ceramic 1pc Apex seals which has been dummy fitted. Also have a 20b cushioned button clutch with a lightened chromoly flywheel, 50mm Injection Perfection twin ITB setup and all the other engine ancillaries. Have also got a Gilmer pulley kit for wank factor (don't judge) which will be anodised black. Other bits to be fitted.. Cusco AE86 front coilovers, new leaves to drop it about 50mm in the rear (may also run blocks if not slammed enough but needs to be able to get up my killer driveway), torsion rod, willwood dynalite front brakes, fd rear calipers. I think that's the gist of it so far, spent the last hour or so polishing up the front bumper, not as straight as I thought it was but will do for now. Have also ordered some wheels . 14x7-1 and 14x7.5-6 weeeeooow. That is all for now. Chur, Tai.
  19. Good to see you made it onto Oldschool Carl! Pretty sweet seeing progress on the Lancia. Should try and talk Mark and Craig into signing up as well. Hope all has been good and if you see Tony any time soon let him know I say hi, and let him know everything's been good across the ditch. Will keep an eye on this one definitely for updates. Tai.
  20. Had to be done.. First choice was SEPPUKU but they didnt let me
