  1. I haven't personally replaced a genuine Toyota boot but I've heard good things, the Toyota technicians reckon they are just as good as a solid boot...
  2. Nah it's not, if you spun the engine around and ran direct drive the wheel will spin backwards, so he's running a jack shaft...
  3. Are you buying a replacement?? What's the website for all the Honda copy performance parts?
  4. I use these boots everyday almost, they work brilliantly, they tear if your a rough cunt and I use them on my own vehicles and they have last just as long as any others that I've used... I haven't had one tear on me in 2 years probably, we buy them in a big pack from BNT and use an air tool to stretch them. I'm sure they're only like 100 Bucks for a big bag of them... Don't quote me on that though...
  5. But if you have one, it should be working? As above odometer is not a legal requirement for WOF and is not a legal requirement in a petrol vehicle period...
  6. Six Month Oil Changes If you have no ODO... And for a WOF requirement diesel and petrol vehicles don't need an Odometer... For RUC's a diesel vehicle obviously needs a working and accurate odometer but that's not covered by the VIRM. GPS odometer's were specifically made illegal by the last WOF VIRM update in April this year... A speedo just needs to appear accurate by a reasonable WOF road test or VTNZ rolling road...
  7. Hey, We had a Camry of about the same vintage at work a couple of months back, had almost exactly the same fault that you're describing, was logging a fault code refering to the MAP Sensor, turned out to be the map sensor circuit in the ECU. We replaced the sensor to eliminate it even though it tested sweet and yeah had the same result. 2nd Hand ECU fixed it. Don't take my example as gospel however, do your own testing but yeah that was my experience... 99 Percent sure it was a 5SFE, definitely a four cylinder one.
  8. Wow your getting in deep now, the perfectionist in you just has to keep digging doesn't it? Are you planning on bringing this with you to NZ at all? Or is it just your OZ project? You seem to be able to find massive support and sources etc from the US, are they easy to find or do you just spend a shit load of time digging around on the internet?
  9. Seems like the way to be doing it, comes out with some sweet style at the end. But that's probably more your own personal touch anyway. Very impressive.
  10. My mistake. But to be honest I think everyone who reads this thread realises how fucking sweet that gearbox is... Any chance you feel like taking on an apprentice?
  11. So how much are those off the shelf??? Steelies Engineering NZ Ltd. (Edit)
  12. I bet you will find the toe angle is really high if it's spinning the steering wheel round on you. Toe out in my experience. Toe In would make it twitchy as. This could very much be caused by a tie rod end issue if there's something up in that department. But changing offset wheels fucks with all that anyway, changing the leverage angles etc... But be glad your tyres don't look cheap...
  13. Social Events so my cars not going is a bullshit excuse... Anyone in the Waikato and Auckland Region is highly encouraged to show up...
  14. Made it to Taupo and Rotorua for Nats, only major hick up was having to overhaul the left hand rear calliper in the Taupo Motorsport Track Carpark, as it seized on driving from Hamilton. Spent the morning finding parts etc in Taupo but managed to get it all sorted and continue on with everyone to Rotorua. Thanks to Heaps to Jase for your patience and help finding parts. Have been checking out Yahoo Auctions and totally found a pic of the relay I am missing. If anyone has one lying around they don't need, I'm happy to take it off there hands.
  15. So we had the bottom spacer blocks for the screen placement etc and had it all correctly aligned that way. But however I believe that we must've some how fucked up the screen height, there is plenty of goo underneath. As the chrome trim is now sitting proud.. Fuck. The guy who advised me of the screen installation only talked of the two blocks at the bottom of the screen and said the were to aligned the screen etc and which of course they were and worked well but I didn't even think about the height that the screen sits off the window frame. Hmmm...
  16. Just about to chuck the windscreen in... Never done one before... Kinda nervous I hope it all goes well... Fucked otherwise... I was meant to be getting a hand from a local guru but that has fallen through and I feel a bit rude now trying to get smith and smith to come glue it it... Plus I have had no good experiences with the local smith and smith agent to date... The car has to be together and finished to head down to Taupo 6am Friday morning, so I can't fuck around any longer. It can only go completely tits up so wish me luck...
  17. So had a productive day today. Sorted out the vacuum advance circuit so now the car no longer has the hesitation caused by the advanced being stupidly advanced. Got a small amount of polishing done. Got to test out the lemon juice and tin foil trick which works sweet. I reckon its at least as good as autosol. I've painted the few primer / rust covered parts where there has been some dings in the past. Nothing flash just wanted to seal them up and make them slightly less obvious. So the been lightly sand blasted, primed and sprayed in the left over black I had for the steel wheels. I ended up having do a pretty serious rust patch in the Left Hand Rear Guard, Whoever has been there in the past better not be working as a professional because it was only one step away from a tin foil and bog job. Fucking terrible. So I have replaced the hole with steel. Not the flashest job ever but I plan on going back there when I have the time to completely replace the bottom of the guard. Its a collection of fucking rough patches atm. But it will hault the cancer for now and make it a little more presentable. Rough night painting pics. Feel kinda shit doing a half ass job due to the time frame but when I have the time I know ill go back and actually properly panel beat the beast so I can kinda let it rest.
  18. Ran it back to the original system. The timing was sitting at 28 Degrees at idle after what we did on Saturday. . The engine was not loving that at all. The secondary diaphragm on the distributor is to retard the ignition timing, I am assuming to aid the EGR system. But this wouldn't have been working correctly due to the bi metal vacuum switches being broken and non existent. So it now has about 13 degrees idling at around 800rpm and then maxs out at about 28 Degrees. Relatively certain the diaphragm that catches the throttle isn't doing anything at all which makes the engine want to die when it's unloaded and you come off the throttle suddenly.
  19. Headlights Now Sorted. Well operational at least, still not quite sure of the purpose of this missing relay. I couldn't help myself and started fucking with the emissions controls after finding the EGR port completely blocked. The Cold Start Idle Bypasss was also not working at all. Have reduced the high idle but now the engine has a hesitation in it. Very likely a product of a possible vacuum leak or me just fucking the vacuum circuit all together but hey at 10pm this shit happens. More research to ensue. Headlights. Thanks to a custom made relay - Yowzer 2012 Copyright (Electrical Magician) The big port here was previously completely blocked with carbon. 2012 Toyota Emissions Control
  20. Haha well that's a nice change from looking like it should be full of bros that own lots of KFC.
  21. Project Discussion: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32844&hilit=ms110 Thoughts, Advice and Opinions Welcome. And any help on headlamp circuit would be greatly appreciated.
  22. So today was an epic failure. Went backwards instead of forwards. Front Windscreen has been declared fucked. Figured it would but was hoping I might get away with it. Shouldn't complain really. Starting to get epically fucked off with trying to find the missing piece of the headlight circuit, Toyotas factory parts diagrams have been no help. Here's some pics of the car with chrome beauty rings but I still can't decide what I think, I kinda agree with KK in saying I prefer just black on black, the rings make the wheels look too small. If anyone with an ms110, 11, 12 on OS could hook me up with a picture of there relay box in the engine bay and some part numbers on associated relays, they would be saving my life and I shall hook them up with never ending cuddles. I believe it to be the Headlight Failure Indicator. But this is an educated guess. One week till Nats track day and I still don't know if this will make it. The six pin space is the culprit I am referring to:
  23. Today, we fitted some spacer rings underneath the front springs, which has managed to lift the front end allowing steering clearance and eliminating the gay rake angle. Car is presently sitting at approximately 105mm ground clearance, which should make in legal. Hopefully the correct dimmer relay shall turn up in the morning. $135 from Toyota. For a relay. Fucking gay. But project Nats must be completed and with what 10 days left, there wasn't much option. The ME-U is currently idling at 1700 Rpm warm so thats next on the list. Update with pics tomorrow, cause noone gives a shit about words. Sitting at work at almost 10.30 updating, time to drive back to Hamilton.
