  1. Today: This silly bitch lovely lady decided to move out of her stationary lane into my moving one and poked her wheel into my door and all the way down the side. Then she got out out and asked if she took her car to the panelbeater today when I'd be able to pay her back. Turns out she has no insurance, luckily this is the first car I've ever had full insurance on. Most of the damage is in the shaded part of the picture, but it has gouged every panel behind the guard.
  2. So yeah, I still haven't done the cooling system. Friday was the last day of classes at uni for the year, and still have exams coming up, but hoping to find some time for it soon. I did track down an annoying rattle to a loose exhaust mount (steel to steel hard mount). Rejetted a weber 32/36 I got off a forum member quite a while ago, the first carb I've jetted, so that was fun. It was all going well until I noticed that someone had disabled the accelerator pump. Bought a new one from Ebay, and it's now probably totally lost in the Italian postal system. cocknballs.jpg I've also found a guy who has Z20e efi gear and a Z22 head to suit the inlet ports, so hopefully at some point the carb will become redundant. Z24ET ahoy.
  3. A mate whacked the turbo gear off a 2L-T 4Runner/Surf on his NA engine. Went 1.5x better. The engine had 400 000kms and took freeboosting like a champ until the turbo shat itself.
  4. I suppose that's an easy place to start! It didn't do this when it was in the other car though, the only changes to the cooling system are the thermostat and a possible bad job bleeding the system. I even took the radiator etc from the other one. Kingcab is the best, just sucks that they weren't available with anything other than the 2wd Z24. Maybe I should keep the flatdeck one and swap it onto a TD27 4wd chassis /dreams
  5. So I bought another one which was meant to be good and tidy, then I was just going to swap the trays over. Unfortunately it's got rot all along the top of the screen, and in the places I've already fixed it in the other ute, so I'm swapping the drivelines instead. Spent a couple of days last week swapping them over, now the good motor out of the new ute is in the old ute, and is running weird. It goes great with the electronic dissy, but ran really hot yesterday, then really cold today. I put a new thermostat in, so may that's a bit suss?
  6. Are there now any legal, off the shelf adjustable suspension packages available for AE86s? I bought BC's for mine just before the rules changed a few years back and they aren't certed.
  7. I'm pretty attached to this thing, but I'm fucking sick of having to continually fix things that were fucked up by the previous owner. So I'm getting another one.
  8. The guy is in Stoke, free every day after 4.30.
  9. Hey Nelson guys, I'm pretty interested in a D21 Navara that's listed on trademe. Looking at it as a replacement for my current one. If things pan out, is there anyone who'd be able to go and check it out for me? Happy to compensate for your trouble. Sam
  10. Spent some time maneuvering for the shot?

  12. Wish the garage had been this clean when I was working on the car here
  13. How do you choose a base jet size to start from? Just picked up a 32/36 from a kindly chap on here, which was on an A12 or A14 or something. I'm guessing that it'll need bigger jets to suit my Z24. Would 135/140 be a good starting point for a 2.4L, low compression, low rpm engine?
  14. Thanks Chris, will do! I've also decided to go all in and replace the fuel lines (10mm feed and 8mm return) and fpr. Will this mean that i also have to drop the tank and replace the pickup etc?
  15. I need to buy a deeeep 21mm socket...
  16. Would a reasonable test for the temp sensors be to pull the plug off and see if the running condition changes? I've just done that, nothing seemed to change. They're in a pretty shitty place to actually remove.. I also unplugged the cold start injector, that made no difference either, idling or driving.
  17. To be honest, I'm not too sure about the O2 sensor, I had kind of assumed that the ECU wouldn't have enough adjustment to flood the engine. The fuel pressure was around 55psi iirc, I'll have it written down somewhere. The engine flooded this afternoon, then I flattened the battery trying to clear it, so no running video today.
  18. That's an interesting one. I can't actually remember which walbro pump it is, but it was definitely one of the smallest ones. That is a good point though, I'll have to investigate it further.
  19. Thanks for the reply man, that's a good point. I'll shoot over to the car this arvo and reacquaint myself with the facts. The smoke definitely smells like fuel, rather than oil, but I'll take a video for your perusal and judgement.
  20. Basically, my 4age is running really, really rich. I paid a bloke to throw a pressure gauge on the fuel rail, which read really high. It's got a smallish external pump running up mostly standard lines to the fuel rail, standard FPR dumping to the standard return. Also has a standard ecu. When driving it has a bit of hesitation (from memory), and the throttle is quite binary, making it hard to keep a constant speed. It usually idles high (1000+), when it does idle close to where it should (~500) it's lumpy/rough sounding. Additional info: the car will run stationary all day with no problem (bar the clouds of grey smoke and afor mentioned idle issues). However, once it's being driven the fuel pump starts getting really noisy, the grey cloud gets worse and I think it gets so rich that it starts semi flooding/cutting out under throttle. - Does this sound like a potential symptom of too much pressure? In my mind, it should be worse at idle as it's using less fuel. Lastly, I've tried two second hand FPRs, run a temporary fuel return line (check for blockage etc) and spent hours and hours fucking around with it, any other suggestions? For all I know, I've solved the high fuel pressure, but the richness remains. The petrol in the tank is a bit discoloured and old, but smells ok, and the car starts really easy, even from cold.
  21. Na man, if you find a source for center caps, definitely let me know!
  22. Nice! You've got Riverges! What size? I've got a set of 6.5s, never seen any wider than that for sale.
  23. Bit of a dredge.. Fuck photobucket too, gonna have to rehost all of these pics soon. Been doing stuff that wasn't really worth taking pictures of, like swapping the LSD back in after having it rebuilt with a solid pinion spacer at Steelie Gears. Bloke reckoned it was the best 86 lsd and diff he'd seen in years, so that was nice. I've also been working to clear out the garage it's in, and my shitty car port at home in preparation of moving it.
  24. Made a massive difference! Old one with a hole. Also this: Starting swapping to a terrano front. Painted the slam panel black, then realised that the Navara corner lights don't fit over the Terrano grille, so I've got some proper ones on the way. Still rolling the terrano front with the corner lights looking wack as fuck.
  25. This turned up yesterday, looking forward to jamming it in and seeing how much difference it makes.
