  6. So bout a month ago she started using water, motor had only done 28000kms since a rebuild so wasnt sure what to expect when I ripped the head off. Turns out the head had electrolysis and the water jackets had turned to swisscheese round #1 and #2, got the head welded and all back together and some drumstick decided to do this. 4wd on the inside lane of a roundabout drifted into my lane and gave the van a kiss, the dropkick took off before I could get his numberplate so got a lovely insurance excess to pay now. Has now developed a slight miss, plugs lead dizzy and rotor are all new. The heads been skimmed twice now im guessing so the compression ratio is bumped a bit, the plugs are BKR6ES-11 do I need hotter plugs or retard the timing a bit?
  7. unsure on kms was rebuilt 28000km ago and everything looks mint except the head
  8. Whipped the head off today and it turns out the heads corroded to shit around 1 and 2 cylinder water galleries. Time for a new head
  9. The van has started using water Oil doesnt seem milky under the cap or on the dipstick and theres no vapour or moisture coming from the exhaust even when its cold so I wonderinging where its going, the only fishy thing is a bit of milky vapour coming from the breather on the catch can. Engine is a Gen2 3sge
  10. You can find them in estima vans and 4x4 townaces, some estima vans come disk braked too Factory lsd options are easy like with hilux diffs and altezza torsen diff centers can be swapped into them
  11. Thought about using a F series diff instead of a hilux diff?
  12. These are the shizz!
  13. Diff is a diskbraked F series from an estima, just need a altezza torsen center now. Got the hiace for the 5 stud front hubs and brakes, plan is to fit them with supercustom disks as they are bigger than std hiace ones (300mm) and the nissan 4pots. Stripping the rest of the van to finance the diff conversion Will be 5 stud all round after the brake and diff swap so will roll on these till I find suitable rims, any suggestions on rim choice? Should stop plenty good with new brakes and go sideways with new diff Will I need to upgrade the brake master cylinder with the new brakes since there bigger?
  14. Interesting idea will look into doing this
  15. townace van
  16. Anybody done this before? Toying with the idea of doing it to the townace since the rear already has adjustables
  17. From my experiences with matamata, if you enjoy drinking waikato, burnouts and dairy farmers daughters then matamata is for you
  18. Exactly what I needed to hear thanks
  19. Have been playing round with fitting hiace brakes and hubs to the townace, only problem is the inner bearing on the hiace hub is larger than the townace bearing, can the seal and bearing be pressed out and a new bearing of suitable size be pressed in with no problem so the hubs will fit on the townace spindle?
  20. Green brothers in tauranga if you have no luck in hamilton, they do alot of hilux diff conversions
  21. yea mounting all the gen2 stuff and wiring are my main concerns, hoping flanges on intake and exhaust could just be changed and port matched.
  22. Whats the differences on gen3 engines vs gen2? I know theres some improvements in the gen3 engine over the gen2 (better oil pick up setup better head more hp etc) Was thinking of getting a gen3 3sge since there cheap and giving it a freshen up to eventually replace the gen2 engine in the van. Will the gen2 mounts powersteering alternator waterlines etc bolt up to a gen3 engine? Are the looms different? Cheers
  23. Hmmm E series diffs aint to happy with receiving clutch kicks Yum yum! spider gear soup anyone? Will get the f series in as soon as funds permit Chucked some new shocks in the front aswell Whats the deal with double swaybar setups?
