  1. Had a bad day today. Then I came home and found this. Opened it up gave it a clean. It's an ls6 intake from a later model holden ls1. The only real visual difference between this and the older ls1 intakes is the plenum floor which is flat- increasing plenum volume and, somehow, port flow rates. This has arrived too- it's the PCM I'll try make use of. I have been constantly undecided which way to go- aftermarket or stock Delphi- but this unit came up for an unusually good price so had to grab it. Earlier in the week I made some brackets for my heater, and next update will show where it is to be mounted and plumbing.
  2. Thanks man, good explanation
  3. Right so how do they deliver currents? Do they turn charge on or off depending on battery voltage or do they supply a variable current depending on needs
  4. Lets say your car is running and you have all your accessories on and your alt can't keep up- would voltage on gauge just drop below 12v the very instant things go bad?
  5. Hey man. Space- but also because I have a 60a item and no idea if that is suitable. Is there a max or minimum rpm they should spin at? I'm guessing I can just suck it and see- If under charging I can move to smaller alternator pulley to increase rpms. I have gone to small 60a alt because that's what I have, have to relocate it anyway, my motor didn't come with one etc. Do cars ever have charge issues changing to under drive pulleys?
  6. Can ya tell us who sells them?
  7. Same brand or??!
  8. Great- mines 60a. Wasn't sure If that would be enough. Also not sure on pulley sizes- I don't know if its going to end up under or over driven as using a factory ls1 crank pulley,an alternator pulley off some Nissan and an alternator off..... Can't remember http://shoraipower.com/lfx36l3-bs12-p130 Anyone see any problems with this in a sometimes street driven car? What a great product!!
  9. So are the optima red and yellow top batteries still the best for a street driven car or is there a cheaper option? In hindsight there will be some significant current draw in the gem with fuel pumps, electric fans, lights and PCM potentially on at once.
  10. Thanks man. Looks easiest to go there.
  11. Enjoyed the battery discussion in other thread- could we move that chat here? I'm keen to know what lowest amp alternator people would use on efi car road car that has lights but not much else. Also what kinda CCA would a big modern v8 need? Love the idea of these sealed gel batteries as I have enough room to mount one on my firewall in cabin behind dash- it keeps the power wires short and frees up space in the engine bay.
  12. Do it! I want to know how the car charges them as at least with rc car ones you need a special charger????
  13. This was my last project.. dunno if i put it in here already. it was a Nissan safari, then 37" tires, then hilux cab with tray, then vh45 v8 with fiberglass jeep cj3b tub then sold to help fund our home WISH I'd started that project two years later when I had more $$
  14. That is verrrrry nice Blake!
  15. I know someone who has four ( i think) 044's in the boot... Won't be able to hold a conversation around it
  16. Because I'm cheap. But yes they are cheaper new than I thought. Can get ls9 injectors taken to 1000cc for 200usd. http://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-injection/1401753-fuel-injector-resizing.html What are injector dynamics injectors like? They are pretty
  17. I honestly don't know how the cat even got up there.. I just turned around and she was putting on a tightrope act. There isn't much to stand on up there!!
  18. Hey I was just about to put white steels on it! ( lol serious)
  19. This thread is why I thought threads about ordinary dailys was OK
  20. Man you guys are the coolest couple. So cool how she always seems genuinely interested and keen to help out. My wife has no idea what goes on in the shed ( probably a good thing actually) That plenum lid looks great, you have done real well!
  21. Bulk lot of zip ties? I saw it somewhere here
  22. Hey man. This thing is so beautiful. Such a nice shape. Why does the front of the bonnet on these always look high?
  23. Yeah problem with that is the cost of custom studs- may as well get the billet hubs ( approx 500$)
  24. I didn't think they would exist, great idea. Or, drill in correct position large enough to clean off old hole, machine tophat bushes to suit holes and studs
  25. Kneedit then drill? Nah not using spacers.
