  1. who kows were i can find some of these in nz? i found some tyres in aus in a 205/50/10 but didnt have any room to bring them back with me. also wouldnt mind a set of these wheels to go with them does any one know if they would be strong enuff for a mini? cheers guys
  2. would be sweet to see a rotary with bike carbs,i like how they used to use the twin idf webbers on them, they looked so much more impresive than a ida. also agree on the "is going to need mo' slam" did you find those wheels here or yahoo?
  3. not much of an up date on this ive been spending most of my spear time on that bloody ute but i took my donk to Waiuku today,it rides prity good with the big wheels on it/its alot more stable but i think the suspension could do with a bit more work some time soon. did have one mishap, hit a good bump in the road and i must not of rolled the guard enough on the left side so the tyre caught and riped a few chunks out of the side wall, the white wall is still good though so im happy, just gave it a qwik tap with a claw hammer i had in the boot on the side of the road also im still after a series 4/5 rx7 drive shaft yoke and an RX oil cooler of some kind if any one knows of any thing but other than that im all set to get stuck into it after all the shows/cruses ect hopefully in late January
  4. so ive got one side striped, well almost any way.the GIBBS mega penetrant stuff i was using to coat the metal wasn't working so good so im spraying the metal with a clear coat as i go every time a look at it i find some thing else i need to do/replace. i pulled the right sill off and have patched up most of the iner sill, last time i was up at minibitz Lee had some van sills there so next time im up that way il grab some new ones also the right end cap of the rear valiance had rusted out so i cut that off as well but ive already got some new ones that came with a panel van i had a few years ago so will weld them on when i get time this week
  5. were did you find those disks? i looked every were for some when i was putting my through compliance but couldnt find any thing. also what are the plans for the bike carbs?
  6. sweet thanks for that bro il give it a go this afternoon
  7. thanks bro, i got the coke cans from an opp shop for $1 there 1960's so may be a bit old for the car but i think they suit it
  8. cheers bro im in Hamilton,i did look into soda blasting but they told me it would be around $1200 and i would have to take it up to Auckland to get it done. the paint striper is leaving a really nice finish its just taking a wile,at least it will give me something to do next week
  9. cheers, its hard to do a mini different since just about everything you can think of has been done to them but when i first got it on the road about five years ago it was the only matt black mini ute with red wheels and white walls i had seen tryed the widened steels on this morning but it dosent look good, will have a look in the shed and see what else i can find
  10. i got the engine out yesterday, then i was thinking what colour i should paint it next and thought maybe i just wont. so bare metal it is,have just sprayed it with GIBBS mega penetrant to keep it from rusting anyone have any good idears for removing paint without damaging the metal? i spent three hours with paint striper and a scraper and all i got done was one door and an A panel. also going to put the wheels i had on one of my old travellers on but may have to wait till after it has a wof as the tyres are kinda small thinking about putting the engine out of one of the old race cars in it for a bit more fun, thats also been sitting for a few years now so will have to look into it a bit more first
  11. So i finally dragged my old girl back home today so i could put it back on the road so i got some thing to get around in wile im doing the engine swap in the Mazda.i first bought it about 6 years ago, fixed/boogied it up and drove it round for about three years in which time i think i painted it at least 5 times. got sick of it about three years ago and sold it to my dad but ive decided to claim it back anyway picks and what i got dun today. looked a bit rusty under the rocker cover so i thought lid whip the head off and have a qwik look as soon as i got the studs loose water started coming out around the bottom of the head, hopefully get the rest of the engine out tomorrow and i think there may be a spear metro engine to go in some were in the shed
  12. i think a few of us will be heading up on the friday night, save getting up so early just have to make sure we keep old tanka on a leash this year
  13. can any one tell me how to work out coil spring weights? my car is about 950kg and i have 200lb springs in the rear but these are way to soft. is there some kind of mathematical equation to figger it out or do i just have to gess and hope its not to hard/soft? any help would be great as i have to get spring custom made so if there rong i carnt realy take them back. what are people running in the rear of similar sized cars? cheers guys

  15. thanks guys it turned out better than i thought it would and for only $80 a set well worth it. p.s i love that rx3 have been wotching videos of it on youtube, that guys a nuta but he sure can drive some more parts arived from the U S of A today, thanks tanka il be at kumeu so could be aranged, you going to have your 808 there?
  16. also man hole covers can some times stick up higher than the road surface, ive still got a peace of one i smashed with the crossmember in my cressida which then riped holes in the floor as it made its way out the back of the car
  17. thanks the gauges are made by Veethree i got them off this dude http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... er=2046498 cheep to they were only like $20-$30 each.i like the om's also but it sits a bit high with the 17's for me,wish i could find some smaller simmons to put on it but with them shutting down earlyer in the year the prises have just gone crazy.i will also be useing brass fitings and copper pipe as much as i can in the engine bay (vacume lines ect) like i did with the surge tank so hopefully it should look very classy
  18. Plus the intake manifold looks awesome. Thats the main advantage. Hardcase to see the surge tank, pump and pwr radiator and the factory motor yea all that stuff make the old 1600 go hard brooo intake manifold and lots of the other bits are all painted now also, looks heeeeeeaps better
  19. thanks i have always been told that the cosmo blocks are better so when this one came up at the right prise with only 40k on it i thought i mite as well go that way. turbo is a masterpower t-64 . .7 front and 1.0 rear. cheers, would probibly look even better without the sun viser and roof racks when the om's are on but i couldnt be bothered taking them all off. i talked to noel at nostalgia motors about the copper lines,he said not to run them under the car but didnt say any thing about running them in the boot,i made up a set of steel ones as well just incase but i have copper lines running inside one of my minis and have never had any trouble with that so fingers crossed it will be sweet
  20. ok so first of all big thanks to tank for putting a hole heap of photos up for me coz i suck. have got heaps done over the last few weeks and am almost ready to do the swap, hopefully putting my old ute back on the road as a daily. this is what it all looked like when the engine first arrived from Christchurch after i gave it a clean up and used a custom D1 spec bungy cord to mount the turbo all manifolds, throttle body, water pump, prity much anything alloy is now high temp semi gloss black folded up some ally to make a bracket to mount gauges what it looks like now with my PWR radiator i got off the specials table at repco Alice Springs dummying up the fuel set up/battery mount made some new rear struts, stuft up some were though as it now sits 10mm higher than it did before with them right down. im going to get some new shorter springs made just have to figer out how heavy and how long to make them some other wheels ive had sitting around for about 4 years now,got bored one day so thought ild see how they would look on the Capella, also got the new fuel line and battery cable run. boot is now finished just need the pump to be wired up so yea shes getting there, mite leave it till after new years/jap meet/nats ect till i do the swap, i have prity much all the parts ready to go but im just having to much fun driving around right now to pull her apart
  21. ask no questions hear no lies hahaha sory bro im not to shore on how legit it is,have never herd of anyone having any problims with this
