  1. Got the 521 all driving sweet as and finished over the last week. Gonna take it on some around town missions tomorrow before taking out to to rangiora hot rod show for the weekend Still cant find reverse gear. been fine tuning the column shift rods but still cant get it. Might get a floor shift box
  2. KayKay Slam!! Thats awesome dude!! Well done.!
  3. Took the 521 for its first drive with new chassis under it. Awesome power for a 1600. Still having trouble with column shift. Cant find reverse and the gear shifts are really tight. Hopefully sort it out tomorrow. Just a couple wires to connect for the tail lights and it should be cool Brendan gonna tune it up tomorrow and all going well ill be driving it out to Rangiora for the hotrod show weekend! Here are the pics. Ill sort out some new steels and tires at some point. Gonna paint the new steels army olive drab with a nice sized whitewall.
  4. Righto! Big thanks to John!!! He figured out the column shift. A bit of mucking around and got it all bolted up!! Also over the last few nights with alot of help from Brendan ive got the brakes bleed, all the vacuam lines sorted. Wiring all tidied up, Discovered that my 1200 speedo cable and accelerator cables have connected up the to the Z and 521 componetry. Cut the last of the inner guard out of the way to clear the suspension arms. Havent got much more to sort out really Bleed the clutch. Mount the deck Wire up the rear taillights again and take it for a road test!! Pics after deck is mounted tomorrow!!!!
  5. Ahhh excellent idea Seedy Al. Thats should work a treat. Im part of the chch datsun chapter! I not working 2moro so ill pay the library a visit. In the mean time. Bleed clutch and brakes. Then once column is sorted i can drive round the block for some testin times! or i could just reach into the engine bay and smash a gear linkage rod into 1st and drive up and down the street
  6. Im truly struggling with this. Has anyone got a workshop manual or pics of column shift mechanisms that bolt up to the firewall
  7. Ohhh dude!!! Just so much awesomenesss flows from this trailer! This would be the highlight of wagnats for me if i was going! Well done dude!
  8. Its looking real good dude. You progress is very encouraging to get involved in the garage
  9. Howdy. Im almost finished my 521 to 720 chassis conversion and ive come to my gear lever. Ive got the column all mounted i just cant figure out how the gearbox rods that come up to meet the column change bolt together. Soo if anyone has got pics of a 720 column change or diagrams from a manual it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris
  10. Yeh lock in the above colour. With all this sweet photoshoppn. I might put up some pics of my 521 As ive already been there done that with red steels and whitewalls. feeling a change after seeing this
  11. Im liking the green aye. Esp the later. Sparkle is right tho a bit more olive e
  12. Rad Trailer dude.!! Lovn everything about it
  13. Progress. Got a battery tray made and mounted and also mounted coil. Brendan been playing around with the wiring sortin things out and where they go. Its gettn there! A couple nights this week after work and it should be ready for a fire up
  14. I followed your thread for some time. I fuckn love this 620 dude! Perfect truck Lovn the striping too!! Keep up the hard work!
  15. Righto. Got the front lowered today. Also go the driveshaft back in. Not much to go now Sits a bit to low for my liking. On bump stops. Will most likely raise it a little bit Also not running those wheels/tires on the front
  16. Also had time before darkness to put in two inch blocks and remove a leaf. Nicely slammed in the rear now. Front tomorrow/ Need knowledge with re indexing torsions
  17. Hahahaha!! Yeh still agreeing that Datsuns rule!
  18. Ok . Soo end of year festivites have consumed my evenings and the hangovers have consumed my days. But got into it this arva and got a 620 booster m/c setup bolted in place on the 521 and got the 720 radiator mounted in the 521 and plumbed up. Gotta sort out remainder of column shift rods and brakes lines plumbed up to 620 m/c and my good friend Brendan is sorting out my wiring this week. Maybe a skid for Xmas?
  19. At those plates dude. Look forward to seeing how low it is. This makes me wanna build a trailer. I dont have one and it could come in handy. I reckon one with some sweet 56/7 Fins following up from behind the wheels
  20. Sweet Sweet Find Gotta love these stories of sweet old original cars falling into the right hands. Look forward to summer cruising pics
  21. Sweeet dude. Look forward to seeing the finished slammed product
  22. Go the Clutch cylinder and Steering mounted today. Bit of cut cut here and there and drilled a couple new holes and all good. Tomorrows plan is to mix a 620 booster with a 720 master cylinder then bolt it to the 521 firewall
  23. Hmm thats a good one. My 521 is legal and the 720 wasnt. All the chassis tags are mounted on the body so its easy. However im thinkin of gettn the chasiss tag remade by a guy up north and get the Z engine number on the tag instead of the J13. Im also unsure about cert coz i aint modified the chassis at all . legally tricky but fabrication wise sooo easy. Hasnt been the best weather this week in chch and im havin a Mexican party so sorting things out for that today otherwise id be ready to drive by end of weekend
  24. I aint measured the difference. But the wider tires that were on the 720 chassis fit well into the guards of the 521. So far its been a surprisingly easy conversion. Id reccomend it to anyone with a 620 or 521. So Simple to get better brakes/suspension and engine
