  1. Fair enough that you smoothed the cowl vent since it's not needed. I just thought if you were running a heater, you may have plumbed it to collect air from somewhere else. I won't be using the original heater, because a) it's far too big, ugly, and shit, and there's not enough room under the dash anymore because of the firewall recess. So I thought I might smooth the cowl too and plumb the heater somewhere else hidden, maybe a vent in the inner guard. Or I could still utilise it and fit a smaller heater. I intend to do lots of driving with the car, so if I happen to be out in the cold and rain, I'll want a heater so I can see where I'm going! C notches tend to be very basic, that's the beauty of them, but I'm still interested to see some pics. Do you have some photos of the work you did making the new inner guards etc. It's not really an easy feat to build a chassis for a unibodied car, nor is it cheap, which is why I'm not going down that road. I don't think it's really necessary either. I will incorporate some strengthening in the car, but ultimately the only major changes underneath will be the front and rear suspension, which are being entirely reworked with 4 link in the back and tubular wishbones and a custom made crossmember up front. There's the firewall recess and tunnel mods too of course. I'm undecided whether I want to fit a cage anymore either. If I could, mine would be C notched, mini tubbed, fitted with an entirely new floor with greater space in the rear for 4 link, full length bead rolled tunnel and smoothed engine bay with rolled inner guards, but none of that is a practical car building necessity. The car itself is in such good nick that there's no sense in hacking it all up really, but modifying it to suit.
  2. Rotina, In regards to the red Cortina, just wondering if you're running a heater, because I noticed that it no longer has a heater bubble, nor the cowl vent to allow air into the heater? Also I noticed that it no longer has the vents in the C pillar either. Did you relocate them or just remove them altogether? I was considering removing them from mine, but thought otherwise, as they are to relieve cabin pressure. I've decided I like them anyway. Also, with the engine bay smoothing, did you cut out all the little recesses in the inner guards and weld new plates in? I'd like to see some pics of the C-notches too.
  3. I took over 200 photos, click here
  4. I went along on the Saturday, bloody awesome as usual. I took over 200 pictures, check them out here
  5. Looks good. Definitely not painting going to paint mine green now though. To be honest, green doesn't work for me the way I imagined, and now that it's been done I want something unique, the shade of green on your car is pretty much the exact shade I had in mind for mine, and we can't have two looking the same now can we? Nonetheless, she's looking well.
  6. Yeah, I guess I'll find out if they've done it when I get the next lot of papers.
  7. The numbers on the tag in the engine bay didn't match the numbers on the rego paper, but I got them to change that so they are the same to avoid any dillemas.
  8. That's what they all say isn't it, Lower Hutt? At least all the NZ, non imported ones anyway. They were just assembled there in LH. I had to get them to change the vin on the papers to the one that is on the car, otehrwise there would be all kinds of shit stirred when I get it certified and warranted and stuff. It's great having the reg on hold, because once it's finished and certified, I can simply get a warrant, register it, whack my plates on and drive!
  9. Oh ok. I'm pretty certain they're not actual Mk2 Cortina seats, which probably explains them not fitting straight in. It's hard to say with such an old car, nearly 40 years is a long time for a whole of stuff to have been changed and messed with. I know that the tags on mine have been changed, the ones on the car don't match the rego papers (the reg is on hold). Not that it really matters because it's all being changed anyway, but it's still itneresting to look at the history of the car. Apparently mine was originally a 1300.
  10. Yeah, I remember they were comfy. Did you mount them on the big arse pieces of box section that were with them? Did I even give you those? I think I did because they're not laying around here. There's a little locating hole in the floor isn't there? And there's a lug somewhere on the rear of the base that slips is place? At least that's how they were mounted (as well as bolting through the floor) when I took them out.
  11. I see you have my old seats in there, they look pretty good.
