  1. This is true and there is an event on the day before the Kevin Mac in a couple of weeks. Here is the manifold which has the injection mounts which I will need to drill and then I will be making my own design plenum which will run into either an a 70mm TB which is on it currently or when I increase compression from the current 9.3:1 go to an 80mm TB which should give me a huge boost in torque and top end power as it will make the cam work better. The last planned upgrade will then be either a 3.9 ratio diff or a 4.1 which I have both ratios in the shed to choose from. This ratio change I reckon will take around a second off what ever else I have done. so I am aiming at a mid 13 with 3.08 diff but I am loosing so much launch speed I reckon I should pickup around 4/10's on the launch alone and the rest from the actual run. Rev limit will rise to around 6500rpm which will drop the gear changes down into rev range after peak torque is reached. It's all theory at the moment but I used this similar principle to get my Torana 202 to run a 12.9and 107mph on 10:1 compression
  2. Fark yea... it was an interesting day, the usually straight as an arrow binnema almost took out the 60ft timing gear, rails were getting that much grip the wheels were lifting on even them. The drag slicks were getting one hell of a workout. No doubt about it, running an event the night before helps to make a perfect track surface for the next day, Trev Tolhurst is a champion track prepper. On another note, I have now ordered a new manifold and it should arrive in a week or so. then I will plan the next modification to run that with my own twist
  3. Well after the test n tune I decided to alter a few things as a bit of a stab in the dark and have raised the rev limit and added a bit more fuel and timing. I ran a best 14.55@96mph on the day using nothing special street tires which gripped and smoked up very nicely. I was holding 2nd until about 5400rpm and shifting it into 3rd which would then change at 6000rpm instead of the normal 5500rpm when it's in drive, the extra 500rpm helped I think. Great day had apart from the crash which I included below as well.
  4. I have posted some pics from the Drag Racing https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.734645793228267.1073741855.612338512125663&type=1
  5. well i add the mufflers but still need to make another mod at some stage to allow a slight more clearance but it sounds pretty good. Now to tidy up the body a bit and get another check on the tune.
  6. Trying to get the right sound, I am after a soft loud and haven't done the balance pipe yet which should take a bit of harsh noise out as well. Test with the bullets stuck on the rear and then I removed them.
  7. Blossom Festival Alexandra 29th September 2013 Entry and Scrutineering 8-10 am sharp Racing from 11am Entry will be $20 if done prior to one week before event or $30 on the day plus day licence of $30 will also be required if a NZDRA licence is not held and pre entry is highly recomended as the field is limited to 120 entries Fill out entry form and post to PO Box 1633 Invercargill Entry Form
  8. Website Bring your street car and race and watch!!
  9. There is no gain in going bigger unless I invest in another part as the collector is only 2.25" so that will be my bottleneck, I am future proofing it for when I get larger extractors. Twin 2.5" should be good for over 400hp and I aint going for that much on the standard Bananas however I also plan to overcome them eventually as well. When all this is done and the compression raised to around 10:1 it will be an interesting road car as even with this I am only running 9.3:1
  10. Getting ready for the new exhaust system build this weekend. No doubt I will need some additional silencing but I have a bit of a plan there too, I may do a bolt on/off 2"-2.25" dual rear muffler for around town and then bolt on straight pipes 2.5" for racing. Priced $1100 - cost for material <$500 + Welding/power/bourbon. There is a mathematical equation to work out HP before an exhaust becomes restrictive and I could have gotten away with 2x2.25" but have future proofed and will give a little torque away for HP.
  11. My project got stalled but I was talking about it again last night and will be on the track this summer I hope, I am just finishing the things I needed for my commodore. It won't be much unless I get some outside help with a turbo setup as I know shit all about them but it will be different for anyone who hasn't seen it, I will also eventually run a Commy computer to control the injection, spark etc I hope s I have some experience with them now. I still don't plan on making it super powerful for the beginning, as I need to make sure it tracks ok and works ok and sort out handling.
  12. Bought it sight unseen with a seized motor. It had the usual problems of mashed piston and rings and it had been sitting that long it had a seized crank bearing but I have that under control and hopefully I will get time to fire it up sometime soon than I will be looking at a tidy up here and there. This is a Rotary Valve 2 stroke 100cc and were a reasonably perky engine and I reckon it had one the best looks of all little 2-strokes of the day with it's stinger exhaust.
  13. Well an interesting day, The dyno has shown something that I will have to take care of. I run HSV Headers into a single 2 1/2" exhaust and the power runs pretty flat in top revs after showing some promise, The injectors were at maximum 84% duty cycle last time and its running leaner than before yet the power flattens for about 900rpm in the higher revs as you will see. I am planning on a larger exhaust to see how much it can improve it It did however produce 10hp at the wheels virtually the entire rev range compared to the first run. Also this was on Z 95, the other day was on BP 98 I watched another Youtube vid of a GroupA which made 203RWHP and it also ran flat in the higher revs. I reckon this isn't too bad but I would like quite a bit more However saying that and that I have a 5600rpm redline I have a power band from 300lb/ft Torque at the wheels to 210hp rear wheels which is 3500rpm to 5300rpm which is half my useable rev range which should make for some interesting driving and drag strip for the old clunker.
  14. I found one finally. Picked up a 3.89:1 Borg Warner 28 spline and only paid $100 + shipping $70 for a disc to disc diff now for one more part
  15. Awesome work so far mate, like the idea of a hot 6 too
  16. You need a small board that has nvram to write to and a cable to connect to the ecu, depends on which model all the details are here. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=655 and the software is free You can turn off the anti-theft security so you can run these engines in any other vehicles as well. Heaps of detail on setup and help available - total cost around $250
  17. Yep anything with an AC Delco and you can record a drive then check what it's doing then make changes by writing direct to it. In actual fact the these ECU's are better than many after market ones
  18. Looking good mate, I need to kick my project back in the guts again.
  19. So I have a had a few problems and things definitely turned slower than planned but it has now started to take shape. I have had some issues with tune and trying to get the Real Time tune working but finally this has been overcome. A small mod can turn the Factory Holden ECU into a fully tunable ECU in any cylinder combo, n/a, turbo, supercharger configuration. It also allows the electronic 4-speed auto to be tuned as well. First attempt on the dyno I couldn't get it to work but when i got home I sat down and tried and finally got it all working so I am now waiting for another attempt. Untuned and running very flat in the mid-range it made 157kW / 211hp at the wheels. By that night when I finally got to change the tune it feels like i just gave it another 20kW. Can't wait to get it sorted now and see what this 165kw at the flywheel motor can make now.
  20. They may have cancelled them but at least we had a good turnout and great mixture of cars, I will post a heap of pics and do a video but I thought you might be interested in this.
  21. This is what I have got for my 304 and I have someone keen to put it on his Dyno to give it a go. It may take some time but I am confident he will sort something out for me.
  22. So I have been missing in action for a while but Things have been progressing slowly and I have done a major remake on my house which has taken some time away from this, just as well I never sold my NZ new 535i as been a great everyday driver while this has been getting dealt to. The heads have been cleaned up, ported and very oversize valves inserted to get them breathing even better than ever. The cam is a billet H70 with nothing too massive in lift but with good torque/power gains. I hope to get it all together within the month and then start the process of tuning it.
  23. What sort of ball joints are these... Can you not find something else and make fit? If your stuck then I can "call-a-friend" who has a good collection of spares for these.
