  1. yea stay put on this one.... (Heh I only a couple of k away) I aint comin to drink as I prefer to look at the cars not the booze
  2. I was gonna pull the head off my old budget banger to change a crook spring but might come along and meet ya's and pull her to bits on Saturday instead
  3. Well it will be good to see you back out there mate
  4. I was knocked out in the 3rd round by 0.018 I managed a not so impressive 13.8 with full exhaust but I was impressed with my $50 each tires which dropped my 60ft times with a best of 1.90, once I learn to get off the mark with them I reckon I should be consistantly 1.8-1.9. the Kumho V700A circuit tires are pretty good for me A $1 pin fell out of the external reverse rod so I parked it after that. The n/a 202 XU-1 ran 113mph but suffered off the line and couldn't get it launched with the tall first gear so finished with only a best of 12.9. Thanks 427carguy I will get hold of Nick about them, he actually commented to me that I don't usually do burnouts, fact is that will be the last time using that diff so I gave it to it
  5. Well I very nearly never made it as I broke my clutch cable on thursday so made a completely new one from a spare I had. then today I was doing the final tune and check and found yet another valve spring broken. I wasn't able to replace it with the correct one so I am using a very secondhand stock one so will need to watch my revs at it will probably valve bounce over 6k. If you do venture to the track you will see the fastest n/a 202 powered XU-1 in New Zealand and most likely Australasia.
  6. Some fun in the sun, weather should be good and some nice n noisy cars coming. I will be there in my OS Torana 6 trying to do my best time but after some major changes may not be able to repeat

    Supra LSD

Yea its actually a reasonable LSD for a 2nd hand non adjusted. It will do as a back up as 4.3 and was pulling strong in top with the shitty woosung 15"

    Supra LSD

Yea I dunno what the heck was going on with that but If I was running slicks I would backed up to throw more heat in them.... I have written a couple hints for next time with the fixes.

    Supra LSD

You better not go on Sunday or you will be a day late The 3 winter meets are all on a Saturday mate. I doubt I will run to much tomorrow as I will struggle for traction with the shitty 15" tires and the 4.3 I think will be too low for the 14" I have on the other rims.

    Supra LSD

I have finally got my Hilux diff in and at present have a stock LSD. I have a Supra clutch type to go into it and wanted to know any hints and tips regarding this. I have someone who is brilliant with stuff like this so I will pass the info on to him. Thanks Graham
  13. Ok so this thread hasn't seen an update in a while so thought I better add a bit more. I have been running the old 202 pretty hard and finally managed 13.5 which I was over the moon with then the next meeting I went out and tried some more tricks which blew me away and now I am about to add the biggest mod to my car since I started this project. To Date I have run a 13.194@103.21mph The trouble I have now is total unreliable traction as I have been using a spooled stock open Holden diff. I have now got a fully modded HiLux Diff with Commodore stud pattern to bolt in. I now just need to do the driveshaft and a few more minor mods then I will have to learn how to drive it again. Other problems I may encounter will be the gearbox and clutch as the extra traction may put paid to the stock Holden units.
  14. I'll be there trying to go faster
  15. Thanks for the info.... I will do it with the Hi-lix upgrade soon I dont have a cert but then I don't need one as my engine was updated from a 2250cc to 3300cc back in the old days of garage declerations Basically I can run anything that come out standard or optional on the 3300 which happens to include the triple webers and the previous injection I had as it was not specific so I checked it out with both a cert guy and rang up Wellington
  16. I have a question as well Should it go at the back in case the uni's break but what happenes when it slips out the box? Should it go in the front to stop the front digging in ? Should you have 2?
  17. Thanks for the advice on the diffs, sounds like the 3.9 std Hiace/Hilux might be the ticket for me and thats probably a good mix of street n strip ratio. 900 passes... Yea we have a meet almost every month and I have been draging it for over 6 years with some meetings running upto 20 passes and most over 10 passes so probably average around 170 passes a year. I am pretty good at getting this old girl off the line with the huge 205 tires At the end of the day it comes down to cost otherwise I would already be well in the 12's with the j.zed head available for these.
  18. Thanks ke36, it has actually caused quite a few people to raise the eyebrows and to think its all stock running gear thats been slightly modified. A real backyard banger. I hear ya on the weight reductions but to me it wouldn't be a street car without seats and I empty the boot, I may actually try some extra weight in the boot yet like a bag of sand to get traction. Ill try one more time until I get my diff The fan its been with me since my old commy about 15 years ago and its a metal flexi-fan, to be honest I could run without a fan completely as this is the coldest running 202 I have ever had and yes the guage is correct. I could run down the quarter 3 times in a row on a 30 degree day and still hold my hand on the bottom hose. 70 degrees is normal on a 82 degree thermostat. I aimed for 200+ rearwhp minimum when I built this engine and I reckon its about spot on. Weight with me in it is 2500lbs or 1135kg (I am 95kg) This is one reason why these were a fantastic rally and circuit cars in the day. The commentator called it the older version of the Nissan Skyline, "6 cylinders and goes like stink"
  19. Here is what it reckons although I have used other sims and it says almost identicle but reckons it puts this to the wheels, i think the other one said I had 214.97 at the wheels Horsepower @ flywheel = 214.83 HP
  20. I am uplaoding the vids at present.... also I will upload the new pics, pardon me if i show some that have already been shown. Ok Bart can I help? can we get your Valiant up and running? Shit man lets throw a bitchin motor together for ya!
  21. I was waiting to see you hook it up to a dead guy called Frank and bring him back... Dam I want one of them timing lights..... my car only has 12 max so I dunno wat its doing at 3k
  22. Testament you are on to it... I bought some stock springs a couple of months back to soften the rear and spoke to my mate out at the track about doing this exact same thing on the weekend. Cold air box is probably a sound investment as well as a heat shield or wrap as these motors are non cross-flow and the exhaust sits under the carbs which warms them up. At every stop I raised the bonnet to let hot air out. Once again been talked about but never felt serious enough to do it until now. Thanks for reminding me. Slicks are beyond budget until I find some second hand ones but 14" are the go as 15" would struggle as this car originally was on 13's and 13's would make her scream plus I have no rims. I agree slicks should get me there on there own but I will go for the diff first.
  23. I will add some more tonight as I resized the rest of them last night as well I have a heap of drag vids as well
