  1. had a guy with a 120y try on a set of hotwires i had that were 4x108 and slotted to 4x110, and they fit . whats up with that?
  2. oh ok. how much does this cost if, say, you are getting someone to do it for you (i.e. not a mate)? i presume it needs a cert?
  3. i see... do they do anything to strengthen the chassis then? make up for lost rigidity?
  4. Easy as, just cut up a 44 gallon drum. Haha true Kiwi ingenuity haha. but serious question guys. dont know much about tubs etc
  5. ^^ damn! how hard is it to make mini tubs? im guessing quite a lot of work.
  6. blocks are useless tho. i only had 1.5" blocks and with 4 guys in the car it would still rub on bumps and on corners if i went fast. thats y im taking them out and reseting them and adding a leaf so it should be much stiffer
  7. would look sick 3" lower. are the 205's on front or back or both?
  8. oh yea, i was talking about the autocross on this weekend. im confused lol. but yea im not sure why they postponed it for. but my ex girlfriends dad is one of the organisers and keeps me updated. he drives a mean dx corolla with a 16v 4age in it running twin 40's. 150hp at the wheels . its fast, i know.
  9. no its not at manfeild. it is at the hawkes bay car club. they posponed it the other weekend and is on the 16th at the hawkes bay car club. cheers
  10. get a steel one made dont even bother lightening the original 1. we've all seen many rotaries shattering their flywheels because of high rpm.
  11. lol it always sounds like a great idea but allways ends up being twice as much work and effort as first expected. haha
  12. yea that too. but id take it to a allignment place for that very reason. in my opinion the allignment of your wheels etc is nothing to be overlooked.
  13. only thing i can think of is that the axel isnt in properly. it should all line up sweet if youve checked all the stuff as above. if its still not right, i wouldnt waist any time and id take it around to a GOOD wheel allignment place. they should be able to get it set up right and its worth it.
  14. yea theres masses of room under the front guards- they were easy to pump and theres still possibly room for more aswell from what i can see. as for the back tho, they were wide enough to clear my 13x7 hotties with 205/60s when it was absolutely sacked to the ground. BUT its the inner guard thats the killer. i dont know whether its possible to modify the inner guard in any way except for tubs. but i think flaring wont give me any benefits as they are at least 1.5 inches wider then they were, if not 2". but as it has been mentioned, when it does rub at the back, its rubbing on smooth metal so its not going to cut up the tyre. im thinking that to go much lower is impossible without major work to the inner guards ie. tubs. i cant see the front being to much of a problem except the inside of the tyre rubbing on the inside of the guard near the strut. hmmmm
  15. how much do you guys lower your escorts by and do u have pics? pm me if anyone has any info and recommendations on this. im putting 17's on with pumped guards and want it as low as i can... but dont want it rubbing with 5 people in it etc. does adding a leaf actually stiffen it any more then normal or does it just make up for the lost tention by the leaves when they get reset? chur
  16. i asked a guy at a engineers place here on costs of resetting leaves. hes said about $150 to reset them however much you want and about $100 to add a leaf... this sound about right?
  17. theres autocross on at the car club on the 16th (next sunday). if you havent been to one before, its like time trials with rally cars around a 30sec track. all good fun and if you're nice or know people you might be lucky enough to get a ride. might see some of you there if you're keen.
  18. i used standard eski rails and took them apart and re drilled holes 2 match the distance on the seats from the front and the back holes on the seats (if that makes any sense, hard to explain), and made up 2 plates for each seat that bolted to the rail and extended further wider and bolted to the seat. easy as and no modifying to the rails (that they can see) so would've passed a WOF as i asked the cert guy first. i used 5mm plate that was about 50mm wide. a bit overkill i know but wanted to keep the WOF guys happy.

  21. yea apparently they are lighter then most 4cylinder cast iron engines. good luck to ya.
  22. my mate just got a full 10 point wrc spec homologated cage in his skyline drift car and cost him about 2g i think. thats top of the line shit tho, done by guys who do that everyday. thats also certified etc i think was part of the deal
