    because i dont think the head will have anything wrong with it, but if hes keen to sell, im keen to buy i think its just been ported, not planned or anything, so would suit turb or n/a if you wanted it to.

  3. anyone know what sized crank pulley a car with an sc14 has factory and how many psi it runs?
  4. yeh, ive read his thread and seen nismo capri on rts site etc. im gonna go with a setup like the capri on rts site, looks pretty simple etc, hardest thing would be customising the crank pully, and i have someone in mind to do that for me.
  5. yeh, im gonna have a shot at it, then if it doesnt work out go to a turbo. the cars powerful enuf as it is (for me) does everything i want it to, can pull nice skids etc. id rather a more linear boost curve to one that kicks in suddenly aswell. also in my mind i see supercharging more economical on fuel and becuase of a more linear boost curve, ill have less fueling problems cause im running a carb with an electric fuel pump and rising rate regulator.
  6. im just experimenting atm aye, turbo was the plan at the start and im not fully writing it off, just like the idea of supercharging for some reason. im not after the most hp i can get, if i was, id go buy something newer with the power from standard, as il get the most bang for buck that way. im just taking the advice of RT as he has said is the past that it is the most cost effective power mod, with effectively half the work of a turbo setup. also wont be hard to sell the sc if it turns out shit and i decide to turbo so no loss there.
  7. its hardly a mega cooler its medium to small, it just what fitted in the space nicely behind the grill without butchering up any metal. im also future proofing, might change my mind about the sc, and go turb instead in the future etc. lag? thought superchargers didnt lag like turbos? so wouldnt i get more lag if it was turbo'd? explain
  8. id just get any extractors you see, the all the same, ive heard that 4-2-1 are better than 4-1 and preferably tuned length ones, but i dont think you get much gains unless the engines worked heaps, custom would be the best though
  9. kinda went off the idea of a turbo, and now im supercharging, but thanks for the input. just got a sc14, and vr4 intercooler for the setup, now i need the make up a bracket, and crank pully
  10. the plan is to setup a blow thru setup on the engine, see what its like, see if i can get it running ok or what not, and eventially inject when i get the money, still a little school kid here. i heard that suckthru setups are shit, and blow thru is the way to go, so i decided to just go blow thru so itll all be setup for when i get round to injecting it now, turbos what is my best bet out of the vf subaru range on trademe? i dont want to go screw the internals in my engine so looking at something that wont boost too high, i know you say get garrett etc, but im poor, and just experimenting at this stage.
  11. whats the go with seals? im gonna be running a blow thru setup, so what kind of seals do i need? are rubber ones ok? i only want to run low boost like 5-6 at this stage as the engine has standard internals. so far ive thought of vf10 or vf14 but i have no clue as ive never dealt with turbos before.

  14. yeh the mounting holes at the ends are in the same places/distances apart etc, just seems as though it has the wrong bends, althought the dude i got it off on tm said he had it on his mk5 the brand is kmac, was only $50.
  15. i have a 25mm front one but cant figure the fuck out how it fits in, had the engine out n all yo, still couldnt get it in, must be for a different car i concluded to and the dicks on tm lied
  16. id say no, but in saying that it probably has king lows in it, which arent worth the money if you want to get a good drop. dont bother with kings superlows either. go custom, or some other brand.
  17. yeh do it ay, cheap as and saves you getting a tow home on the back of a truck if the teeth get stripped off it like what happend on mine. only took me the best part of an hour to replace it and have it running again. id tend to not do the tensioner unless you really had to or could get one off another engine, i went to a few shops to get quotes for one, couple of hundy at places like bnt appco etc for some odd reason repco gave me a quote for 80, when it came up on their computers as 350 or some bs amount.

  19. ill give you a grand for the pinto nah im thinking about forced induction on my tina atm aswell, seems like the far better option over na powerwise, but i dont really want to carb turbo, and having trouble trying to find one of them damn injection manifolds.

  21. haha not everyone has a turbs pinto like you .its nothing like port polishing which takes man hours = money. its chuck on a machine and leave the machine to do it = not much vary in price id think and no good or bad job .
  22. wheres a good cheap place to get a head shaven in west auckland area? how much does it cost for 1mm to be taken off?

    i already have a good compressor, so i might buy a little grinder thing as you guys say and have a crack at it myself, i just never thought of that as someone once said to me that they had to be "cc'd" or something and only the pros can do that. but come to think about it, thats only probably for the hardcore race engines like balancing n shit.

    when i was getting a quote today,bumped into a mk5 with a frontmount etc. the dudes running 15psi on stock internals/head, and usually runs 18psi. im almost on the verge of being sucked into forced induction. supercharge seems the easier option over turbocharge, or am i missing something?

    how far would $200 get? i dont want anything grinded out harcore, just like smoothed/polished out cuz its all rough.
